 Shame really.

E-mail sent to our sales address shouldn't take two weeks to get a

Re: [slim] Delays from Amazon UK

2007-06-04 Thread Skittler

I cancelled my Amazon order at the weekend and re-ordered from
Ripcaster. I've just phoned Ripcaster to confirm they really do have
stock and I've arranged to collect my all-black SB3 from them after
work today (I work a couple of miles away from them in Reading). This
is better than Royal Mail leaving a card on my doormat and me not being
able to collect from a Post Office until Saturday. Very helpful - they
even offered to bring it round to my work address instead but I can't
get deliveries here as it's a secure site.

They say that they had a delivery of the new Logitech-branded SB3s on
Thursday so they suspect that the two month shortage is now likely to
be over. It's therefore possible that the Amazon orders will start
flowing now too, although they will presumably have to settle their
earliest orders first.

This is what I'm struggling with - on the one hand UK distributors have
experienced a two month shortage, and on the other, the Logitech SD
people are saying that There's really no reason for there being a
delay.

Something just doesn't add up ...

BTW Jim, my email was to Brian and was around March/April time.

Whilst I'm not going in to specific details of why the UK hasn't had any
stock for the last 2 months I have happy to say that we received 800x
units on Friday from Logitech and we fulfilled all of our back orders
the same day. This means that all of our current re-sellers now have
the stock they have had on back order with us and can fulfill your
orders.

Moving forward we have placed rolling purchase orders with Logitech so
now that the new Logitech branded product is available we should
continually be in stock, especially on the run up to Christmas.

We should have another shipment leaving Logitech at the end of this
week.

from Ripcaster on the way home from work and it's up and running

BTW, it has a Logitech logo :)

I think the power supply is different too. At least it's not the same
as I remember when I borrowed an older SB3 from a friend. His had the
old-style remote though, so maybe things have moved on in the power
supply area too. This one comes with UK and European 'prongs'.

I notice Amazon UK have now changed the availability of the SB3 to just
say available from these sellers - i.e., not from Amazon itself.
Clicking on the link tells you that someone called ripcaster has 1
new SB3 - that's it.

dabs.com says due in 1-2 weeks, but this is the first time I looked
at it, so it might have said that for months.

Is it the case that someone in the US can order one of these and get it
within a day or two, whereas it's taking months to get to the UK?

This is bizarre. Is there anyone connected with SD/Logitech reading
this who can say exactly what's happening? My patience is running
out...

[slim] Delays from Amazon UK

2007-05-17 Thread robt

I ordered a black wireless squeezebox from amazon.co.uk on 31 March.
It's been delayed twice and still hasn't arrived. The latest estimate
is 16-25 May, though I have lost confidence that it will arrive in that
time.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? It's hardly possible to
believe it takes 7 weeks to get one of these boxes from the US to the
UK.

My plan is to wait until 25 May (when I'll no doubt get another
'delayed' email notice), then ask amazon what is happening. And
presumably then cancel my order and get it from somewhere else.

Cheers,

Rob

My, wholly uninformed, view is that it wouldn't be cost-effective to
begin replacing the internals of the SB3 right now; the RD costs would
outweigh the returns considering that (and here's another rumour) the
next generation is just round the corner. Then would be the time to
begin using Logitech's buying power to source new components.
