Re: [slim] If I had bought the SB3 first....
I was pretty nervous about setting up the Duet last week. I had company staying here and didn't want to get drawn in to a big ordeal as these things often tend to go. Anyway, I had to unplug and replug the receiver after resetting it (purchased used) but other than that it all set up without a hitch. I am loving the Controller while cozied up in bed. I use it with the Boom which is across the room and hard to see from in bed. It's nice having a screen, though, even with the Controller. -- MeSue Sue http://www.last.fm/user/MeSue MeSue's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=985 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53312 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I think Sean said that there was no audible difference, that the DAC upgrade was like putting RAM in a computer that was rated for higher speeds than the computer could use anyway. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ free plugins: http://www.tux.org/~peterw/#slim AllQuiet BlankSaver ContextMenu FuzzyTime KitchenTimer PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53312 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

My Duet arrived on a day that I came home a little early from work to cut the grass. After spending an hour and getting sucked into setting the Duet up, my wife starting getting a bit upset telling me that my stuff always comes first. :-). It was after cutting the grass that I finally figured it out. The duet is just by its nature more complicated to set up. A large part of it is the fact that you are actually setting up 2 devices, not just one. And, as you go through the setup for the first time, it isn't really clear to you what you are setting up at any given point in time. Having security on your squeezecenter complicates things further. Having gone through a factory reset as a troubleshooting step on my controller recently, I can say that the setup procedure has improved and worked much better. -- maggior Rich - Setup: 2 SB3s, 1 duet, 1 receiver. Unfortunately that would be impossible without adding a display and an IR remote, which would add significantly to the cost (think SB3 + SBC). I was personally amazed at how easy it was to setup my Duet when it came in. Of course, if you have problems or want non-standard things, things become a lot more difficult.
