Re: [slim] Repair broken ethernet?
Yeah, I was afraid such damage from an outside source would not be covered. Can't blame them. I'd still try the credit card extended warranty route (if that is available to you). If yes, get a written repair estimate even if it says we do not repair such ethernet hardware problems, we only offer a full unit replacement under warranty or something similar. Obviously it cannot say this type of failure is not covered under warranty. :) Might be worth a shot. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67087 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Repair broken ethernet?
Called the support here in Sweden. They will not repair any units, but will replace them if there is still a guarantee. The guarantee does not cover the case when a unit is struck by lightning and my unit does not have any guarantee any longer. So, I guess that I am stuck here. -- m_gustafsson m_gustafsson's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20104 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67087 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Repair broken ethernet?
Hi, I have a Squeezebox classic which recently got its ethernet HW hit by the lightning during a thunder storm. Is there anyone who has experience of repairing the ethernet HW who can give me a hint on how to do it? Many thanks. /Mats -- m_gustafsson m_gustafsson's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20104 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67087 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Repair broken ethernet?
Logitech support doesn't stand in for lightning damage and the ethernet isn't replaced/repaired that easily probably. Don't you have some insurance for your house? In my case refund for lightning damage was included in the fire insurance for the house and I got some money for the damaged SB3 and I could even keep it. signorRossi. -- signor_rossi signor_rossi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11941 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67087 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Repair broken ethernet?
If covered by insurance at all, I'd suspect the deductable far exceeds the value of a an SB3. Years ago I had an electrician put in an 8 foot ground spike connected to my main panel and also spike/surge protection right in the panel. Was under $200 installed. For the OP: - SD has a very reasonable flat $90 repair charge for SB3's regardless of what is wrong. I presume that does not cover shipping though. - Check your credit card terms for automatic buyer protection where the cc will extend the mfr warranty up to 1 year (giving you 3 years of coverage). *some restrictions apply.:) -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67087 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
