Re: [slim] Squeezecenter Remote vs ITouch
I have the Controller and iPeng on my iPod Touch. 99.9% of the time I use iPeng rather than the Controller. The only thing the Controller has is that it can be used as a portable Squeezebox player (through the headphone jack), but the next version of iPeng should add that functionality. However, I find that the Controller has problems with wireless streaming and I have to limit all streams to it at 320kbps (meaning the server has to transcode FLAC files down to that level). At the moment my Controller is sat in it's cradle in the living room acting as a nice, albeit expensive, clock. Given that an iPod+iPeng is cheaper and the iPod so much more flexible as a device, it really is an easy choice. -- DoomWolf DoomWolf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76622 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Well You can also mute using the button on the front of the reciever if You're in a hurry and Your controller is in sleep. Using the sleep and suspend controls of the controller you can prevent it from going into to deep sleep and avoid 10-15 sec wake-up. -- Letten Duet -> Audioengine A5 Classic -> Sony surround reciever -> Jamo 5.1 Speakers / JBL 120Ti 2 Boom's SC 7.4.2 on Laptop running Windows XP Linksys WRT54G wireless router Letten's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16718 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76622 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Squeezecenter Remote vs ITouch
I have the ipeng icon in the bottom bar so it is always on screen no matter how many apps you have. It then takes about 2 seconds before you can control your device. Really cool thing is that setting up ipeng the first time takes about 10 seconds. It automatically discovers your squeezeboxserver. I have got the sb controller as well, but now with my iPhone I rarely use it anymore. Screen size and screen quality and general usability are miles ahead. I'm really sorry for the controller in a way because I've had my fun with it but it is just no comparison with ipeng. -- ghan http://last.fm/user/ghan64 ghan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19733 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76622 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I think you need iTunes to activate the iPod Touch initially but after that you won't need it unless you also plan to use the iPod Touch as a portable music player. In that case, you will also need to use iTunes to copy music files to the iPod Touch. The iPeng App doesn't require anything to be installed on your Squeezebox Server and it will also work towards MySB.com if you use that. Re: [slim] Squeezecenter Remote vs ITouch
Agree! Itouch is my pick. Have the duet and itouch. The itouch with the larger screen makes it so much easier to read. I use album review and biography a lot and reading on the duet is just to small and the scroll with the wheel is a bit awkward compared to just running your finger down the screen. Itouch seems to have all the functionality of the duet + can check email, search the web, and have your favorite music with you at all times.
