[slim] time out

2005-04-05 Thread kdf
I'm tired of the same old disputes and mudslinging; everyone is an expert and
knows better than everyone else how to run a business that isn't their own. I
have less and less free time, and less motivation to spend that time wading
through the same old arguments. The latest rehash of forum wars is just too
much for my patience. So, for now, I'm taking the only rational option,
walking away. There are probably plenty of people far more capable to answer
questions than I, who may even have the time and desire to tough it out. Its
just too much for me right now.

Look Kevin, everyone values your input here, but if you are going to get
stressed everytime something gets posted that is OT then I think you're
going to get stressed out more often than not.

And, no, I'm not telling SD how to run their business, but this constant
forums suck comments from the already entrenched minority of users who
populate this list is almost too much to bear. Obviously SD can do whatever
they want, but if they (or you) are not up for a little constructive
criticism then how will they cope with the real issues?

As they work on the _real_ issues, there's little time to improve the
already existing forum.

I agree - your contribution to Slim Devices product development,
and the support on this forum has been fantastic. It's way
beyond what anyone has a right to ask of you, and you will be
missed.

I also hope that with a break for a while you'll feel like
getting involved again - you'll be greeted heartily by the
many users you've helped in the past.

But it should not be a big deal.
As far as I can see a lot of customers are asking for a very basic
facility that all of Slims competitors already offer. Why is this such
an issue?

this constant
forums suck comments from the already entrenched minority of users who
populate this list is almost too much to bear
Seems to me it's more a email lists suck complaints from users who
are too lazy to search the data already in the forums on those very
topics.

Sean has spoken and said a forum will soon be available, so looks like we'll
all be happy (to some extent).
