Re: [slim] Andriod apps for controlling Logitech devices. (question)
Slight bump...for an update To date, I have yet to get the Logitech app to play music. Can't figure out why. So far, I'm loving the Orange Squeeze app. My first impressions are that it might just be the best GUI for music playback yet. I'm certainly thinking it's the best $4 I've ever spent on an app. With each day that goes by, I have less desire to get the Logitech software operational. Re: [slim] Andriod apps for controlling Logitech devices. (question)
I have both squeeze commander and orange squeeze. Squeezecommander is less intuitive to use, but is very feature rich. OrangeSqueeze is more intuitive to use and has a much more polished look to it. Feature-wise, it is quickly catching up to squeezecommander. The developer is VERY responsive. Recently I had suggested that the ability to manage sleep timer on a squeezebox would be very useful. Within a week, the feature was added in a preview release. There is an issue with Rhapsody and OrangeSqueeze that hasn't been addressed only because I've been remiss in getting logs to him. It puts me in mind of the old days of the squeezebox software team where users would report bugs or problems and developers would supply fixes and suggestions immediately. SqueezePlayer is awesome also. I have it on all of my andriod devices - it works flawlessly! maggior's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9080 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97387 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

With OrangeSqueeze I'm almost sure the author mentioned it only works up to 7.7 You have to see that actually except for Logitech's all the Android Apps are really phone Apps only, I'm not sure how good they are on a 10 tablet. Maybe Logitech haven't released theirs for 10.1, either? pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97387 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Andriod apps for controlling Logitech devices. (question)
You guys are great. That's exactly what I was looking for. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Bob p.s. Side noteI was frustrated with my SB3 and Duet, so I boxed them up and put them in storage. Then I bought a remote PC and JRiver Media center and gave it a go I was thinking the grass looked greener over there. It's not. So...I'm back, and using the remote PC with wired ethernet instead of wireless it looks like I've got the best of both worlds. All I need now, is the Android to work with it. That's the last piece of the puzzle. I have several reports from users that say that flatterman doesn't respond to support requests anymore. That said: SqueezeCommander is a very stable app, so support shouldn't be needed for the majority of users. Re: [slim] Andriod apps for controlling Logitech devices. (question)
I bought both apps (Squeeze Commander and Orange Squeeze) and both of them work great. So you should not be disappointed by the functionality, polish, and aplomb of either app. For me, however, I found that in actual use Squeeze Commander was unintuitive and therefore I use Orange Squeeze exclusively. The Logitech app works well, too, but the real deal breaker for me is that although the user may fix it in either portrait or landscape it does not auto-rotate. That's really annoying. In short, if you intend to use your Android app regularly to control your squeezeboxes, you should consider giving each of these three apps a good workout and then make your decision. Re: [slim] Andriod apps for controlling Logitech devices. (question)
It depends on what you want the app to do, I suspect. All I want from an app is to be able to have minimal control from the sofa (where I cannot see the tiny screen, even if it were angled at the correct position). I have the official one and with that, I can see what's playing, I can skip tracks and change playlists (and it was free). That's it - it does all I want and the only limitation is with the tiny screen on my phone. However, if you want to be able to do everything with an app that you could do with either the touch-screen or the LMS software, then you may need to try all three?
