rulof72 wrote: Well, I guess it was bound to happen. The last of my SB Classics from 2005 just died. It was losing connectivity for the last few days and today it just stopped completely. It won't even power up. I tried a couple of power adapters but to no avail. There's been many reports of failing WiFi-boards causing similar problems. If you can live with wired connection it could be worth a try to open the SB3 and remove that board, or alternatively trying to find a replacement. alfista's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32396 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104164 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] My last SB Classic just died...What to replace it with?
Not being a techie, I was a bit apprehensive putting together my first Pi. It really did turn out to be about as easy to set up as folks here said. It didn't work right out of the box, but it didn't take too much work to figure things out and get it running. I ordered parts for my second. I'd like to eventually add a screen to this one and mothball my fading SB3. 2-SB3s, 1-Touch, and a Raspberry Pi B+ with TekDevice dacBerry 3+ running piCorePlayer. Mac Mini as a server (OS X Yosemite). Direct Ethernet connection (1-SB3 and the Raspberry Pi) and power-line (1-SB3 and Touch). iPeng is my controller of choice. Re: [slim] My last SB Classic just died...What to replace it with?
A raspberry Pi with digital output and picoreplayer. You can buy a fully built one from a source on eBay. Although they are overpriced from there. Depending on where you are in the world I am sure you will find someone on here who will build and ship you one for less. Alternatively an AMazon Fire TV with SB Player app. It has an optical out but unfortunately you do have to have it connected via HDMI. *Vortexbox LMS 7.8 music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* - iThingys/iPeng/Tablets *Living Room* - SB3 - Onkyo TS606 connected Digitally - Celestion Ditton F20s - and connected Analogue for Zone 2 - Sony TA FE 320 - Sennheiser RS 130 *Office* - SB3 - Sony TA FE320 - Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* - SB Boom *Kitchen* - UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - SB Touch - Topping TP21 - AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV)* - Amazon Fire TV (SB Player) - Topping TP20 - Wharfedale Modus Cubes d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104164 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
