Re: [slim] Re: Album Art 6.5b1

2006-01-18 Thread Paul Minott
OK, just did a quick test and did the 'cover.jpeg' and it worked
right off the bat. Is there any other way or better yet if I have to
go that route is there a way to change all the 'cover.jpg' to
'cover.jpeg'. I'm sure there is but unfortuneately I am a little
challenged when it comes to those things.

Thanks for the quick response - PS while I'm at it sometimes I get a
multiple song listing on the browser - when I check the folder it's a
single song any ideas?

Just got my Nokia 770 and immediately upgraded to test out the Nokia
skin. Mac OS X.4, itunes, 6.5b1 - prior to this I was using 6.2.1. I
have my album art under Artist,Album, cover.jpg. The only Album
Art I

can see now is the ones I have in iTunes. I did a rescan on a 6000+
song count and it seemed to take way longer than before. Any Help - I
didn't put this in the Nokia post because it's universal with all
skins.

Thanks

Yeah rescans seem FAST on reinstall... and NEVERENDING from the server
CP.

I gave up and named my cover art, 'cover.jpeg', but I have all songs
from one album in one directory.

Did you try '%ARTIST, ALBUM, cover' in the server CP?
A more conventional scheme I think is '%ARTIST - ALBUM'

This is clearly a bug in the Nokia 770 skin since the others seem to
accept both JPG and JPEG extensions. Before renaming all your files, I
would wait for what should be a simple bug fix...

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?AlbumArtwork

note the list of files that slimserver checks with, or without, a
filename specified in the server settings-interface. The Nokia skin
is using the same url to get artwork as any of the others. viewing the
source for the artwork page is not a valid way to track the artwork
filename, since the thumb.jpg in the url is simply an alias to the real
artwork, either on the drive or in the track metadata.

debugging via d_artwork while running a wipe library and rescan will
show you what the server is lookign for and finding for artwork.

Let me back track - changing to 'cover.jpeg' may have been a one off
situation because it didn't work on any others that I did. I did as kdf
suggested (debug and wipe) and I got some artwork but not all. Worked
prior to 6.5 but only picks up some 'cover.jpg'. Not exactly sure how
to do an attachment for the log.txt that I got for the debug, but any
help would be much appreciated.

start by finding a section of the log that covers one of the albums
that you are not seeing artwork for, but are certain that you should
have something.

check for the looking for artwork and any found... messages. paste
that section to a post if you like. The log will show the album title
that it is using, which could be wrong somewhow, and where it is
lookign for files/tags. The answer might be obvious, or it might not.

Also, click on one of the albums that is missing artwork and see if you
get the art when you list the tracks on that album. If you do, then
the log will show you the process of finding that artwork whenever you
load the track list. Only the browse by artwork page is done during
scan (since there are so many covers to handled at once).

Make sure, too, that you are setting BOTH artwork prefs correct. There
is an Artwork setting and an Artwork Thumbnail setting. the Thumbnail
is for the browse by artwork, and the other setting covers the album
pages, songinfo and the now playing section of some skins.

not sure why, but this would seem to indicate that the server thinks
that directory is actually a image file. it should really be pointing
to the cover.jpg, or whatever file is found.

Worthy of a bug report or any idea what I need to do?

hard to think of using the word worth with respect to bug reports any more.

However, probably best in this case, since that snip of log really
makes no sense and I cannot reproduce it.

Make sure you report OS, and have tried the latest nightly with teh
Default skin (not that there should be any differences)

Attach your prefs file ( in case the artwork settings need to be replicated)
Attach a larger section of the log (same section, but add a few more
albums and point out if any of them work better than others)

Attach a sample cover.jpg that is not being picked up right

Also note if you are able to see artwork for that album if you go to
the songinfo for any of the tracks on the album

probably good for a start.
