Library (both old and new buildings) between 10a-5p on 3/29/2014 and will

Come celebrate making with SYN/HAK at the 2014 Cleveland Mini-Maker Faire!

Find us in the lower level (outside the auditorium) of Louis Stokes Wing
 aka the new building

At this year's event, we plan to:
 - Provide an area for people of all ages to build simple circuits on the
fly using a SnapCircuits kit (first come first served)
 - Showcase Arduino Mega controlled relays to synchronize your 110V devices
 - Showcase how to easily use painters tape and a battery to illuminate
LEDs that remain lit for months
 - Showcase simple off the shelf solar panels to illuminate more LEDs and
 power Arduinos
 - Showcase RaspberryPi
 - Showcase TinyLily and Tinyduino by TinyCircuits in Akron
 - Showcase an illuminated lab-coat (worn by G)
 - Showcase how to solder circuits (time and materials permitting)
 - Share information about Syn/Hak so that attendees can learn about our
 recent relocation in Akron downtown.

I guess you could say we're excited to be illuminating LEDs all day at the
Cleveland Mini-Maker Faire 2014, so come on out and have fun illuminating
 LEDs with us!

Torrie, I got a response from CMMF that yes, soldering is indeed allowed
at the library. They are encouraging lots of it this year.

I think I have a good spread of things to display on an 8foot table. I
might even go vertical with some of the permanent interactive displays.
Also, I plan to stand in front of the table this year, rather than behind.

I left out underscores as I was planning to use the page off my cellphone
if on the day of the event.

I think there is a mobile app for the event as well here:

Its seems like a copy paste though. I was going more for documenting the

Would someone have a long distance laser measuring device?

I'd like to start playing around with CAD and build a more accurate version of
our floorplan, with a third dimension included so we can get an accurate

Craig,

If you need/want/can use some assistance, I'd like to help you when you do
the floor measurements with the fancy new gizmos/instruments.

Fully qualified to be a worker drone on your team - I can count to 100 and
I have memorized the whole alphabet.

Plus, I only ask for a hot cup of coffee once per hour and need to pee
every two hours.

No doubt, I will learn something new and interesting in the process.

Re: [SH-Discuss] Laser Measuring Tape

2014-03-27 Thread Craig Bergdorf
I can be found any(!) Sunday from Noon to 3 (i missed a family members bday
party the week before last to be there, alone). For the rest of my life,
Sundays are indelibly linked to being at SynHak, Alone until 2:59pm.

Although I am often late, if I won't arrive by the end of cartalk (1pm)
i've always sent an email to the discuss list in shame (since the
Bethany-callout)

I'm away from the space at the moment, but will be back in time to sit
alone Sunday noon to 3.
How is Sunday?, I can bring in a laser that does nothing, and a tape
measure to continue gathering data to make a real 3d model of the space.

Torrie: can you be here Sunday as well?

roll around tarps to square off welding areas?
fire-resistant drywall to meet code
will walls be built all the way to the ceiling?
steel studs
definition of a wall? wall vs dividers, w/purpose of enclosing dust, etc.
does it make sense to have it closed off? yes, electronics and dust don't

mix, concern about breathing, hearing, etc.
Andy should come up with a quick price list and bring it up to membership
Build a room w/2 doors, enclosed room for the shop, consider building a

10 foot room, use loft area as storage
concern about loft storage: this significantly increases the cost and

work, must do load analysis, figure out how many lbs/sq ft you want to

have, very expensive
how fast would walls get put up? 2

How is Sunday?, I can bring in a laser that does nothing, and a tape
measure to continue gathering data to make a real 3d model of the space.

Torrie: can you be here Sunday as well?

Yup, sure! I'll be there at noon.

No doubt, I will learn something new and interesting in the

Neat.

Lets get together on Sunday and make an accurate floor plan!

I'd like to start playing around with CAD and build a more

  accurate

  version of
our floorplan, with a third dimension included so we can get an

accurate

estimation of the resources needed to build a wall.
