Jean,

Must say, that was awesome!
That kind of feedback would take me at least two weeks!! Thank you very
much for that!

As soon as I manage to take a look at the guide and apply your suggestions
I will let everyone know!

Best regards,
Felipe Viggiano

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide 7.0, Covers and master document

2020-11-01 Thread Jean Weber
Errors found in PDF on first pass through:
Figure 27 (page 47) is missing.
Top of page 92: the 3) does not line up with other numbers.
Page 94, under Find toolbar: the kust numbers do not line up.
Page 100: list does not restart at 1).
Page 104, bottom: style of intro sentence ("The data ranges may
include:") should be changed to keep with next paragraph so it goes to
top of next page.
Page 120, top: For consistency in headings, change D and P on "Data
Points" to d and p.
Page 138: Under "Method Two" the 1) does not line up with other list numbers.
Page 142: The 3) does not line up with other list numbers.
Page 190: the bullet symbol for the first "Distributed" item is not
the same as all the other bullet symbols in that list.
Page 208, bottom: 6) is not in line with other numbers in the list.
Page 210, bottom: list numbers do not line up.
Page 213, bottom: list numbers do not line up.
Page 216-217, under Aligning images: list numbers do not line up.
Page 225, top: heading should probably be "More Printing Options dialog".
Page 225: list does not restart at 1.
Page 226, below Note: list item 1) does not line up with others.
Page 232: first list item 3) does not line up with others.
Page 253: Table 6 caption is not in Caption style.
Page 327, Figure 308 and its caption are missing from the PDF.
Page 334: list number 1) does not line up with others.
Page 336: Figure 317 and its caption are missing from the PDF.
Page 368 has a green symbol and a line under the figure. Need to remove.
Page 385: list numbers do not line up.
Page 403: list number 3) does not line up.
Page 421: list does not restart at 1. List numbers do not line up.
Page 427: Figure 432 is missing in PDF
Page 428:: The paragraph at the bottom should probably be in Numbered
List style and have a number.
Page 432-433: list numbers do not line up.
Page 435: list numbers before and after Fig 443 do not line up.
Page 450-451, 458-459, 465, 469: several figures (and captions) are
missing in PDF.
Pages 471-489 are blank in PDF, except for footers.
Page 490-491: Indentation of paragraphs, and space between Definition
term and first paragraph, are inconsistent.
Page 530: list numbers do not line up.

Recommendations (not actually errors):
Page 107: I recommend moving some text from next 2 pages (paragraph at
bottom of p 108 and Tip, paragraph, and Note at top of page 109) to
the bottom of this page, to avoid the big blank space.
Page 150-151: I recommend moving steps 3) and 4) from page 151 to page
150. If you do that, make some of the list items at the top of page
152 "keep with next" .
Page 189, bottom: make first bullet point under Alignment tab "keep
with next" to move to next page.
Page 267, bottom: make paragraph "do no break" so it moves to the next page.
Page 387: move steps 7,8,9 (and Note) to page 386.
Page 424: move steps from bottom of page to page 423, to avoid large
blank space.
Page 520: start macOS keyboard shortcuts on next page, so it's easier
for someone to print out if they want the list. Also, delete the H3
repeat of the heading that's in the H2 just above.

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide 7.0, Covers and master document

2020-11-01 Thread Felipe Viggiano
Hello everyone,

Just uploaded CG7012-Macros in the Published folder.

Kees:
Thanks again for the effort, all of your suggestions were incorporated,
including the new Note paragraph.

Steve:
Regarding Olivier's contribution to the chapter, I was able to understand
everything that was explained, so I did not make any major suggestions. The
only thing I did was adding a link to the Macro help page on the end (the
previous link points straight to VBASupport Statement).

About the Calc Guide:
Just uploaded a first version of the compiled Calc Guide on the feedback
folder based. There are three versions: .odm, .odt, and .pdf.
I'm still working on it, but I put there in case anyone wants to take a
look and give some comments before the final version.

Olivier:
The cover images on the .odm file were very heavy on my computer, so I
exported them to .png and re-inserted them back, but I don if this is the
right way to manage this, is there any suggestion?

Have a great week everyone!

Best regards,
Felipe Viggiano

2020-10-31 Thread Felipe Viggiano
Thanks once again Steve,

So I'm going to proceed in that direction and start to compile the chapters
in one using Olivier's .odm file.
As soon as I manage to get all the chapters together I let you know.

Best regards,
Felipe Viggiano

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide 7.0, Covers and master document

2020-10-30 Thread Steve Fanning

Hi Felipe,

With regards to a possible Toolbars appendix, I'm not sure much has
changed since August 31st, when I wrote: "I have concluded that at this
stage, including such an appendix in the guide might do more harm than
good. Consequently, my current intention is to progress the 7.0 Calc
Guide without a Toolbars appendix.". I would still be in favour of NOT
trying to include it in the CG at this time.

I am in favour of publishing now, with one review as you suggest. My
only slight concern might be Chapter 12 (Macros), only because I believe
that Olivier made some significant changes (including new material) at
first review. If it would help, I would be happy to review the new
material before issue.

Regards,

Steve

Updates on the Calc Guide 7.0:

The chapters CG7010-LinkingData and CG-7011-SharingAndReviewing are now on
the Published folder after 2 reviews.
The chapters CG-7015-KeyboardShortcuts and CG7016-ErrorCodes are now on the
Draft folder ready for a second review.

I would like to raise a few questions about the Calc Guide publishing:

i. How are we on the Toolbar appendix? Are they already mandatory for the
guides in this 7.0?
ii. Considering Steve's fine job in the previous version, and that we are
closer to a LO 7.1 release, I'm thinking in start publishing the chapters
with at least one review. In this case, we can start working on the 7.1
Calc Guide immediately. If anyone could comment on this matter would be
great!

On opening the file, LO will ask to update the links. As master

[libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide 7.0 Coordination

2020-10-04 Thread Felipe Viggiano
Hello everyone,

Sorry but I've been a little busy in the past weeks and I was not able to
contribute more with the team.

About the Calc Guide 7.0, I can see that we do not have a new coordinator
since Steve, in that case, can I volunteer myself for the job at least
until the publication of this version?

As I can see the work to be done is to finish the reviews and change the
template for the reviewed chapters. Am I missing something?

Best regards,
Felipe Viggiano

2020-07-06 Thread Steve (GMail)

Hi Milos,

I have added an extra zip file in the 6.4 Calc Guide's Archive folder.
This file contains spreadsheets that could be used to generate many of
the figures in Chapter 3 that show examples of different chart types.

It is possible that these spreadsheets may be useful to you (or your
colleagues) if you wish to localize any of those figures.

Regards,

Steve

Re[2]: [libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide 7.0

2020-07-02 Thread Steve (GMail)

Hi Milos,

I'm a little worried about updating the published 6.4 Calc Guide files
again, because I've already taken a copy and started making some 7.0
changes to the "cleaned" files that you sent yesterday! (I assumed you
had finished cleaning them)

Would it be possible to leave the published files as they are now? If
you tell me which files contained the wrong quotation marks, I’ll make
sure they are put right in the 7.0 versions of the files. And I'll do
the same for any other translation-related issues that you highlight
later.

Meantime, you can translate whichever versions of the 6.4 files are
appropriate for your purpose.

Steve

2020-07-02 Thread Steve (GMail)

Hi Milos,

I am finding it hard to anticipate exactly which spreadsheet files you
might need but have placed a ZIP file in your SK community folder within
Nextcloud. This archive file contains 27 of the spreadsheets that you
might need. I assume that you will be able to move the spreadsheet files
somewhere suitable and then delete the ZIP. (For the record, I have also
placed it in the relevant Archive folder in the Documentation Team's
part of Nextcloud.)

Please let me know if there are any other significant spreadsheets used
in the Calc Guide that are needed to help with translation activities.

I have also copied the "clean" versions of the files received from Milos

Re[2]: [libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide 7.0

2020-07-01 Thread Steve (GMail)

Hi Milos,
Many thanks for that work.
Unfortunately I have logged into Nextcloud and couldn't find a subfolder
called SK community within the Shared folder. So I can't see the updated
files.
When I can access the updated files, then I intend to use them as the
basis for the 7.0 update. I also don't have a problem using them to
replace the published 6.4 files.
With regards to the screenshots, I assume that you would like the
original ODS files that were used? If so, I'll investigate.

Regards,
Steve

Hi,
the cleaned files are on Nextcloud in Shared/SK community/Cleaned/CG64.tgz
https://nextcloud.documentfoundation.org/apps/files/?dir=/Shared/SK
community/Cleaned

I've changed a few direct formattings to styles and removed all direct
formatting by my script. Then, I've compared the cleaned documents to
the originals for any accidental changes (none found).

It would be good if the published CG files were replaced by the cleaned
ones and also if they were used as a start for CG70.

In the text there are numerous screen shots which show content of
example spreadsheets. It would help the translators if these were
available, too. Would it be possible?

cheers
Milos

 Hi,
now that CG64 is finished, I would like to check style usage and to do
my job with direct formatting cleaning. It is necessary for translation.
It will not introduce any content changes.

So, please, wait for the fixed files a few days before you start with
 the CG 7.0 guide.

Thanks for this tip. Actually if you place the cursor before "to", then
"to" is brought to the index entry dialog, so you must change it
manually to "search" before pressing OK.

Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Calc Guide 7.0

2020-06-26 Thread Milos Sramek
Hi Steve,
an index is not a problem, but the entries should be added in the right
way.

LO "helps" in adding index entries - if the cursor is placed inside a
word or directly next to it, when adding an entry the field Item (the
second one from top) in the dialog is prefilled with that word. After
pressing OK the whole word is highligted (if field highlighting is on).
This is the wrong way, since in the ODF code the higlighted word is both
displayed and used as the index entry. If translated in a language which
uses inflection, this would add the inflected form to the index.

The correct way is to add the index entry one word before or after. In
that case and entry is created which is independent from the displayed
text and can be translated. For example, if I would  like to add the
word "search" in the sentence " enter the text that you want to search
for", I would add it before "to". The entry is then displayed only as a
gray rectangle without any text.

Cheers,
Milos
