Re: [libreoffice-documentation] Can I help?

2019-05-13 Thread Olivier Hallot
Hi Steve

In the folder /LibreOffice Documentation/English/Calc Guide/6.2/
you 'll find a spreadsheet with the current status of the
update/revision of the Calc Guide.

Please pick chapter 19 (expected to be a easy start, very few changes,
if any) and update it. You may want to check this page

https://help.libreoffice.org/6.3/en-US/text/scalc/05/0214.html?DbPAR=CALC#bm_id3146797

As I think it has been updated since then:
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/history/help/source/text/scalc/05/0214.xhp

Please put your initials in the spreadsheet.

NOte: you can update the speradsheet directly in the cloud because we
have LibreOffice Online installed in the cloud. Double click the
spreadsheet to open it online.

Note:2. Do not hesitate to ask for assistance in this list.

regards
Olivier

Re[3]: [libreoffice-documentation] Can I help?

2019-05-13 Thread Steve Fanning

I notice from other threads that the team is currently focused on
updating the Calc v6.0 user guide.

I now have a User ID for Nextcloud and would like to know if there any
aspects of writing or reviewing this document that I could usefully get
involved with?

Regards,

Steve Fanning

Hello Olivier,

Thank you for getting back to me and providing the link.

In the first instance I would be interested in helping to produce and
maintain your technical books. Is that an area in which you need
assistance currently?

Regards,

Steve

I second Lera, welcome to our community and thanks a lot for your
willing to help.
To contribute to the help, it's not so technical as it seems and you can
just propose the amended text, others will help to have it integrated.
A first documentation to work on the help files is here
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/HelpContent
Let us know if you have any question.

Cheers
Sophie

[libreoffice-documentation] Can I help?

2015-11-13 Thread ptoye
Can I join the help file development team please? I've submitted a bug
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95542 and can prepare
some replacement text.

I've also noticed some grammatical problems, some of which are widespread
(translation issues?).

CV: I was involved in IT (systems software development, network design and
consultancy) for about 35 years before giving it up professionally about 10
years ago. I use LO and on occasion have to use the help files - some of
which I find need some improvement. My native language is UK English, and I
sometimes get into pedant mode about grammar (warning). Now I'm a pianist,
which is much less wearing on the soul.

Do I understand correctly, you want to contribute to the help in the US
English (en_US)? Or will it be an adaptation of the text in the British
English (en_GB)? In the bug report, you give a link to the page of American
English.
Your first steps in our community depends on your choice.

In any case, it is great that there is a person with a native English in the
community. Thank you.

Best regards,
Lera
