Kevin Luxford [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Hi Terry, There is no place for flaming in these lists. Ham lists are a forum for sharing information and for gently dispelling ignorance. We all came into the world knowing absolutely nothing, and we continue to add to our knowledge bank by many means, hopefully until we leave this world. I graduated (with good grades) in Electrical Engineering in the mid sixties, but am continually amazed at the depth of knowledge and experience so willing shared by people in these lists. I am less ignorant as a result. The motto of my university is Ancora imparo attributed to Leonardo da Vinci. It means, I am still learning. With many thanks to all the guys and gals who have helped me enjoy this great hobby more fully. 73 Kevin VK3DAP / ZL2DAP Terrell E. The paint on my TR-3 is smooth, too. The cabinet definitely does *not* look like it's been repainted. Re: [drakelist] TR-3 Paint
Garey Barrell [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Ken - The Drake gear was all smooth enamel until late in the B series. A good repaint is Rustoleum Satin Black, available at most hardware/home improvement outlets. Some prefer Krylon #1613, but I think the is closer to the original. A good article describing the procedure is at *http://tinyurl.com/2mo82m This results in an excellent paint job. *A good job can be done with careful sanding of the original paint if it isn't too bad, no deep scratches, dents, etc.; cleaning of the surface with denatured alcohol (NO rubbing alcohol!), and a couple of coats of . 73, Garey - K4OAH Atlanta Drake 2-B, 4-B C-Line Service Supplement CDs www.k4oah.com Ken [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Easy question...What is the paint type on the TR-3 case -Is it 'bumpy' like the -4 series, or smooth? Re: [drakelist] TR-3 Paint
Garey Barrell [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Gary - I have a B-Line, fairly late, that had a sorta textured paint. It's not really a wrinkle, but definitely not the smooth finish on the 3/4/A units. I've seen others as well. It is different than the epoxy finish used on the C-Line however. 73, Garey - K4OAH Atlanta Drake 2-B, 4-B C-Line Service Supplement CDs www.k4oah.com Gary Poland wrote: Gary Poland [EMAIL PROTECTED] made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Ken, The TR-3 paint was smooth, I am fairly certain the epoxy bumpy paint didnt show up until the C-Line, TR-4C, etc. 73, Gary W8PU http://home.cinci.rr.com/w8pu -- Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net --
