Hi Stefanie,

have you tried clicking on the litle lock image first?
After that it should be possible to start the lookup.

Author lookup in the submission form does work, but when I want to
edit an item I am missing the "Lookup Button".

I can only see what is shown in the attached image. What I am doing wrong?

Any help is appreciated.

Re: [dspace-tech] SQL to get all authors in a community?

2016-09-29 Thread Terry Brady
Fyi, DSpace 6 will have a mechanism to send this type of query in through
the REST api.

https://demo.dspace.org/rest/static/reports/query.html?query_field[]=dc.contributor.author_op[]=exists_val[]=[]=7740c113-f0c1-4b76-bdec-32fcc9e23f01=100=0=parentCollection%2Cmetadata=none_fields[]=dc.contributor.author

(You will need to accept the security warning at demo.dspace.org in order
to view the query form and results).

You need to copy
[dspace-src]/dspace-xmlui/src/main/webapp/i18n/messages.xml to
[dspace-source]/dspace/modules/xmlui/src/main/webapp/i18n, then edit
the copy (alternatively, edit the first file in place). See
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/Localization+L10n#LocalizationL10n-Wheretofindthemessagecatalog
but I agree it isn't super clear there that you should copy that
file to the modules directory. See also
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/Advanced+Customisation
for general information on customising DSpace and note the
explanation of the "quick build" vs "full build" there --
essentially if you edit the file in [dspace-src]/dspace-xmlui
directly you will need to use the full build option from then on.

Never edit anything in "target" directories, those are generated /
overwritten when you run mvn.

[dspace-tech] 20 million item repository with dspace

2016-09-29 Thread DSquare Technologies
Hi Thomas,

Since you are talking about newspapers, do you pages in terms of millions or
number of newspapers, Also what kind of concurrent user load is expected?

We did couple of implementations and DSpace optimization In past where we need
to manage similar kind of data load I.e. 10 - 25 million and some may scale up
further in future and this consisting of newspapers, scanned documents audio
version etc.

In our case concurrent users are expected to go in multiple of 100s.
Unfortunately these implementation s belong to courts and defense sectors hence
can not produce internet link. But we will be happy to see how we can exchange
inputs on this with each other.

jump in to say this page by Helix84 is fantastically useful for answering

Even if you don't define the functions, the SQL contained on this page is
useful.

Author lookup in the submission form does work, but when I want to edit an

Yes, very nice. And also much more elegant in the use of subqueries rather
than joins.

Thanks for the quick replies! Tom's solution is nice because you can
specify the handles instead of the internal IDs. I thought I was going to
have to figure out which collections each the community had, but it's
simpler to just list them since there are only ten or so.

Thanks again,

2016-09-29 Thread Tom Desair
If you do not want to relay on the owning collection and use the collection
handle, you can do this:

select distinct text_value
from metadatavalue
where metadata_field_id = (select metadata_field_id from
metadatafieldregistry where element = 'contributor' and qualifier =
'author')
AND resource_type_id = 2 AND
  resource_id IN (select item_id from collection2item where collection_id IN

(select resource_id from handle where handle in ('123456789/3',
'123456789/4')));

Hi Alan

How about something like this:

SELECT i.item_id AS item_id, i.owning_collection AS collection,
d.text_value AS date, a.text_value AS author
FROM metadatavalue d, metadatavalue a, item i
WHERE d.resource_id = a.resource_id AND d.resource_id = i.item_id
AND i.discoverable = 't' AND i.in_archive = 't' AND i.withdrawn = 'f'
AND d.metadata_field_id = 11
AND a.metadata_field_id = 3
AND d.text_value >= '2016-01' AND d.text_value < '2016-10'
AND i.owning_collection = 11;

[dspace-tech] SQL to get all authors in a community?

2016-09-29 Thread Alan Orth
Hi,

I want to generate a list of authors in a certain community and its
collections. My goal is to do some batch cleanups of the names.
Normally I just select all the distinct text_value fields for the
metadata field I'm interested in, like here for 3
(dc.contributor.author):

dspace=# select distinct text_value from metadatavalue where
resource_type_id=2 and metadata_field_id=3;

But I don't understand DSpace's database schema well enough to limit
that to a certain community and its collections.

Can anyone help? This is DSpace 5 + PostgreSQL.

Re: [dspace-tech] 20 million item repository with dspace

2016-09-29 Thread Alan Orth
"Normal" infrastructure issues aside—disk, RAM, CPU, etc—I'd say that
the handle server would be the "Y2K" type issue to be concerned about.
I don't think anyone definitively knows the limit of the handle
server. In May last year I asked about this:
