[DX-CHAT] ] How do you view new DXCC countries?

RE: [DX-CHAT] How do you view new DXCC countries?
If it's an exotic location, I can understand the excitement. However, when new DXCC entities are created out of relatively common, easy to work entities, due to political changes (YU, PJ, etc.) I view it as more of a pain in the a** having to work them and collect QSLs to maintain my position on the Honor Roll. What's your view? -- It is a game ! Nothing more. If you enjoy it, fine. If not, I would just let it go. 73 and Merry Xmas to all on the reflector RAG Ragnar Otterstad LA5HE JW5HE OZ8RO Located in Telemark - Home of skiing. Creating entities for the sake of creating entities is a waste. Unfortunately, however, we must consider that the legal status of some of these islands is changing, and that complicates the matter with the DXCC rules. IMHO, a more reasonable solution would be to change the DXCC rules to allow these entities to remain as they are in their DXCC status. All the DXCC Desk needs is something to further complicate their life. 73, Mike, W5UC, age treachery will overcome youth skill http://www.suddenlink.net/pages/w5uc/ Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX related items only, dx-chat@njdxa.org This is the DX-CHAT reflector sponsored by the NJDXA http://njdxa.org

I view it as more of a pain in the a** having to work them and collect QSLs to maintain my position on the Honor Roll. Shouldn't someone who's working harder than you get to take your spot? The rules are the rules Re: addition of new entities and I would say new political entities are about the cleanest, easiest call there... new country = new country! I think it's good for DXing to add new easy ones. It's good for people with limited setups to have some excitement and it does provide a way for Honor Rollers who aren't doing anything to have their standings decay and make room for new guys. Besides, don't you want to eventually be pushing 390 active+deleted someday? ;-) 73, Dan Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX related items only, dx-chat@njdxa.org This is the DX-CHAT reflector sponsored by the NJDXA http://njdxa.org

What's your view? PITA, yes, but when you're bored silly and 5 or 6 new entities all come on at once (i.e. a year from now in the Caribbean), it will make for some Hot Times on the Old Bands. Personally, I love busting pileups so it'll be fun for me, especially if I can get all of them on 9 bands/3 modes in as short a time as possible. I'm also hoping to travel down for a first-activation of one of these, something that just wouldn't be possible to some far-flung island at the end of nowhere. As older DXers leave us, new DXers won't ever see those truly high numbers until more entities get created over the years. I'm really waiting for the other shoe to drop, however--the first time an entity is removed from the list and all credits just go away instantly. THAT will be an uproar that will reverberate throughout the Hallowed Halls Of Newington. Re: [DX-CHAT] How do you view new DXCC countries?
Imagine how boring this hobby would be if there were no more new entities since 1962 when I got licensed? So it's complicated? What in life is not? I am also into racing cars. New bigger engines come out and we go faster. Should I be happy driving a 357 ci car when there are 630ci engines out there? I say, let's complicate the life of Bill Moore and push our dxcc totals over 400!!! DX-IS Don N1DG Number 1 Honor Roll and ready for more.
