2003-06-22 Thread tefan Horeck

Hi OMs,

I inform you, that my son Mike OM2DX will go back to Baghdad on 25.June 2003.
But his activity will be limited in a few weeks because Slovak Ambassy in
Baghdad was total devastate, his power amplifier was lost and antenna systems
(log-periodil yagi on 20-10m, vertical HF6 and wire dipoles on low bands) was
destroyed. He will work as YI1BGD from club station but he believe that he
receive his personal callsign very soon. He will look also for YI1BGD documents
(licence was issue in 1978) and will send his copy to ARRL. For other info look
to www.qsl.net/om2dx

[DX-NEWS] 4U1UN activity

2003-06-22 Thread Axel.Schernikau
Hello DXers,

is there any activity plan available for current (or longer term?) 4U1UN
operation?
Cluster spots show the station is now active on 14010, nothing heard
here so far.

Especially interesting will be plans for 30m CW?
Need also 12/80m CW but think condx are not good enough now for a simple
multiband vertical here.

Thanks in advance,

4U, UNITED NATIONS HQ. Frank/W2IX and Ray/W2RE gave many a real treat
and surprise to work 4U1UN on Sunday morning, June 22nd. They were
operating SSB and CW. Activity was on 20/17/6 meters as this bulletin
was being typed.

7Q7/10JUNE, MALAWI (Good or Not!). It seems this one caused some confusion
over a week ago. First reports indicated that this was a PIRATE station.
However, this is NOT the case. According to Leo, CT1CSN, activity was
by Vasco, 7Q7CT, who has a Malawian official document granting the use
of the callsign, 7Q7/10JUNE, to be used as a special event. June 10th was
Portugal's Day and is commemorated by the various Portuguese communities
around the world. So those who worked Vasco with the callsign 7Q7/10JUNE
made a legitimate contact. QSL Manager is ZS6AMX.

9A, CROATIA. THIS IS JUST A REMINDER! Operators Kresimir/9A7K, Phil/F5OGG
and Branko/9A6BND will activate several islands and lighthouses over the
next week until June 30th. Activity began over the past weekend. Watch
around 14260 kHz. Remember to QSL via operator's home callsign, except
Phil/F5OGG (QSL via LX1NO). LAST MINUTE UPDATE: Look for the 9A0LH team
to be active from Palagruza (EU-090 and WLH-0057) early Monday morning,
June 23rd.

CT3, MADEIRA ISLANDS. Francisco, CT1EAT, informs OPDX that he will be
active as CT3/CT1EAT on a DX holiday, from Porto Santo Island (AF-014)
starting on the July 24th, ending on the 30th. The radio operation will
take place mainly on the AO-40 satellite, but also on HF (from 20-10m),
on SSB and RTTY modes. He will be an entry in the IOTA Contest as CT9T
as a Single Operator/Low Power, SSB only. QSL via CT bureau, or direct
to his home callsign via CBA address: P.O. Box 172, 7801-902 Beja,
Portugal. For more information, please visit his home page at:
  http://www.qsl.net/ct1eat

FH, MAYOTTE. Martial, F5SIE, will be active as FH/F5SIE, from Mayotte
Island (IOTA AF-027 and DIFO FH001) between July 1-15th. This will be
a CW only operation with activity on 40/17/15 meters with a TS-50 and
wire antennas. QSL (PLEASE) via the French REF bureau.

HP, PANAMA (Special Event). Members of the Panama Radio Club invite all
amateur radio stations in the world to make a contact with special event
station HP100RCP to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Republic of
Panama. Activity will take place November 1-3rd on all bands on modes
CW/SSB/RTTY/PSK31. A special commemorate QSL can be obtained by sending
your QSL plus 2 IRC or one USD to: Radio Club de Panama, P.O. Box 10745,
Panama 4, Panama. You can view the special event station at HP100RCP and

let me know if you find out anything . i have sent twice in the last 2 years ( with gs, irc AND SASE) to try to get it confirmed on 10 meters. emailed without response too.

my question is: why bother to operate the station if there is no follow up on qsls? but i guess it's the same as some special events stations (or big-gun contesters) who don't think it is part of the operating (duty?) of a station.

personally, i would find it embarassing if i were involved in an operation from such a high visibility station that can't find it's way to get a card into the US postal system (we're not talking some small, poor, undeveloped nation with starving postal workers stealing envelope contents). or get a REAL qsl manager (i volunteered but like i said no answer to email).

sorry for the soap box, steve. just came in from the (FINALLY DRY!) backyard and i think the heat got to me.

Hi Glen
you need to know who was the operator and go after him/her/it. That was
the
policy at 4U1UN, there is no manager who can go back and do the QSLing.
It was
the responsibility of the operator to log and QSL their own QSOs.

Yuri, think you may be referring to 4U1ITU...i believe that is more typically the case
there, where the operator is the manager. In the case of 4U1UN, there used to be a
few QSL managers, but currently all QSL logs are with the UN HQ, and thus QSLs via
their CBA

Patience and luck seems to be the answer to the QSL woes from this station...some QSLs seem to make it out and others not...some of mine made it to me and ...some not...

I have offered several times to manage them (the QSLs) and also e-mailed to try and find some info on how to go abt operating there but never a reply...If I were to operate there...you all would FOR SURE get a QSL if ya wanted one...(if of course ya worked me ;O).

2003-06-22 Thread Ken Holdom

I have just downloaded Logger 32 and I would like
to alter the colmn heading layout to meet my need. At present it appears
to be alphabetically.

I would ideally like to start with QSO No. Date.
Time, Callsign etc

When I do a display Logbook page, I right click on
this and I get a screen which is "Show Logbook Page Column layout" which is
listed alpabetically.

On reading the instructions for "Logbook Page
window" it refers to Grid layouts and more importatntly to quote " please refer
to the section [ {Link to topic Grid Layout Setup: Grid layout setup}] for
complete details." I am unable to find this. Can someone
help me please.

Please all replies direct and not to the
