[Dx4win] Printing Label Directly on QSL Card

2008-12-27 Thread Larry Burke

I am in the process of ordering new QSL cards and I would like to be able to
print the DX4WIN label directly on the card. I found a few references to
this in the archives, but I am having a couple of problems. One is getting
the label to print in the correct spot (which, in my case, is the center
of the card). I suspect it's just a matter of me playing around with things
before I find the right location. The more serious issue is that the ink
from my laser printer (HP P2015d) doesn't seem to want to stick to the QSL
card. I'm using an inexpensive W4MPY stock card for the trials, but have
also used a sample from the QSL Shop. I am wondering if there is a coating
on these cards prohibiting the ink from adhering. The card also creates a
paper jam if it is placed in the printer in an orientation perpendicular to
the envelope feed direction.

I'm interesting in hearing from anyone who has made this work.

[Dx4win] Failure of # increment in contest mode (CW)

2008-12-27 Thread Howard K2HK

I'm sure I am missing some important point but I can not get my QSO number to
increment in contest mode. I have contest ON in QSO window. I have set date and
starting number. In the macro box in the CW Keyboard window I have used the
symbols %#. The number remains at 001. What am I missing?

[Dx4win] Window sizes

2008-12-27 Thread John Scott

FWIW I have had some success making windows stay
where I want them by making sure that I do a save of the file every
time I make such a change. Do this even if you don't add any QSOs.

[Dx4win] Log File Not Being Updated

2008-12-27 Thread Bud Governale, W3LL
Whenever upgrading, I merge the .ini file from the previous version to the new
version.

However I found new log entries were going to the .dxl file located in the
previous version folder and not to the
upgraded version.

As a work around, I uninstall and then reinstall the new version and not use
the ini file from the previous version.
This places new entries into the log dxl file in the upgraded version folder.
Not being able to use the ini file from the previous version adds a lot of work
to the upgrade process.

I noticed this happening for at least the last four upgrades in the 7 series.

What am I doing wrong?

Re: [Dx4win] Log File Not Being Updated

2008-12-27 Thread Alan Sewell N5NA
I've had that happen in the past too. Whenever I upgrade I always go to
FileInfo. From there you can see which log file is being used. If
it's the one in the old directory, just close that log file by going to
FileClose, then open the one in the new directory, FileOpen...

RE: [Dx4win] Printing Label Directly on QSL Card

2008-12-27 Thread AC0W
Depends on the finish of the card stock. Those with the glossy or
semi-glossy finish the ink will have a tough time sticking to the finish.
The cards with a flat finish or I think they call it a matte finish I've had
pretty good luck with the ink sticking.
