[Dx4win] Ver 8.05 and Green Heron rotor controller
I am, as usual, having just a TAD bit of trouble understanding how the DX4Win rotor control Tab is supposed to work. I can manually get the DX4Win rotor page to turn the Green Heron Controller for my M2 ORION 2800 rotor but shouldnt the ROTOR Parameters be filled in automatically when I click on a spot? I am using Win7/64 and clicking on a spot in DX4Win loads the band parameters, mode etc into the logging screen from the Elecraft K3 connected to DX4Win via LP-Bridge virtual port. However the Band info and beam heading information from the spot I click on is not being transferred to the DX4Win rotor screen? Isnt it supposed to be? The Green Heron rotor controller is connected to the PC via a direct serial port connection (serial port 2) and this is the port I defined in the DX4Win rotor parameters. I tried controlling the rotor from DX4Win via another virtual port in LP-Bridge but this didnt work either. Manually I can enter in beam headings, and the proper Band that is enabled for a rotor, in the DX4Win rotor screen then hit F11 and the rotor turns but I cant get DX4Win to populate the rotor and Band info automatically by clicking on a spot. Is all this clear as mud yet? Re: [Dx4win] Ver 8.05 and Green Heron rotor controller
I can explain how my rotator works. My rotator is a Yaesu g-1000 dxc with ERC control File preferencesrotator control i have chosen Hygain dcu1. you probably should have green heron After that under rotatorparameters in QSO window you should setup every band There are choises as disambled (i have it for 160m-30m), normal (i have it for 20m-10m) or with offset (maybe someone is needed this for a 40m dipole which has installed along the boom). After all these, when i am in qso window (hit f9 to go directly) and my radio is in one band where the parameter is set as normal or with offset, and i put a callsign and i hit f11 the rotator starts moving and goes where it is expected to go. Don't forget that you should have all these: 1. be in qso window and 2. have a callsign and 3. be on a band where rotator is needed (and you have told it to dx4win) and 4.press f11 73 Kostas sv1dpi - Original Message - From: Larry Emery lf...@yahoo.com To: DX4Win DX4Win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Monday, September 26, 2011 10:02 PM Subject: [Dx4win] Ver 8.05 and Green Heron rotor controller I am, as usual, having just a TAD bit of trouble understanding how the DX4Win rotor control Tab is supposed to work. Re: [Dx4win] Ver 8.05 and Green Heron rotor controller
Maybe I can explain this a bit clearer. When I click on a spot in the Packet field of DX4Win Ver 8.05 it populates the logging field with CALL, MODE, BAND and also the Beam Heading of the station automatically. HOWEVER, nothing happens at all in the DX4Win ROTOR TAB section where the Band Info and Beam Headings stay at the defaults of 160 meters DISABLED and 0 degrees. I have enabled the Bands of 40-6 meters to be rotor controlled (set to NORMAL in the Window) in the ROTOR Tab section of DX4Win. I have set the port to the directly connected port of Com2 and I set the port speed to 4800 8-N-1 per suggestion from Green Heron. I can manually plug in beam heading info or change the Band to an enabled rotor band in the ROTOR Tab section and manually cause the rotor to turn ok but shouldnt DX4Win populate the fields from the spot I clicked on? Maybe thats a bit better explanation. Thanks for any help... maybe someone can at least verify that the ROTOR Tab does get populated from the spot window when clicking on a specific station. __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Dx4win] Ver 8.05 and Green Heron rotor controller
Larry the rotor tab is not needed. I have not open this window at all. When the logging field be populated you are ready to press f11 and the interface will do the rest. Forget the rotor tab. Theoritically, you need to use it if you need to go in a specific direction. Usually when i want to rotate the antenna to USA for example i write W1 in the call and press f11. I never use it Hope this helps 73 Kostas sv1dpi - Original Message - From: Larry Emery lf...@yahoo.com To: DX4Win DX4Win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Monday, September 26, 2011 10:41 PM Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Ver 8.05 and Green Heron rotor controller Maybe I can explain this a bit clearer.
