    Appareciate the responses.  I found out where I goofed up, I had 
played with DX4WIN V8 in the past & unzipped the license into V8 in 
stead of V9.  All is good now.  Getting old.

Doyle - File ends in ".dx4w9", correct?  Make sure it is in your DX4W90x folder 
(x being another number, probably DX4W901 but maybe the later updates 
originally installed create another name matching the version) and not being 
saved in an older version folder by mistake.

All - Speaking of that, makes me wonder, would there be much of a problem 
renaming the folder to end in the 9 (i.e., DX4W9).  Would that affect more than 
just the log not being found the first time (which might still be found since 
launching out of that folder).  Thinking out loud before trying...

[Dx4win] Grid square tracking

I was thinking It would be nice if there was grid square tracking. For the 2018 
ARRL grid square chase coming up. I see the VUCC GRID.  Could we please add 
this one or a way to total and list grid squares. I didn't see it in there.

Paul has to re-run the installation script each time I update a file.
He apparently has not done that yet.  As I wrote in my release
announcement:

"DX4WIN 9 users should use Help | Check for Updates from the main menu.
Note that there may be a delay between this announcement and when the
updated country file is actually available."

Hi Jim,

I have both version 8.05 and 9.03 on my computer.  I used the updater to
install the new country list IN 8.05, all went well.

I opened 9.03 and clicked on help/check for updates.  The window opened up
but nothing showed up on the list.  Any suggestions.  I tried this feature a
few days ago and it updated two files.  My country list in 9.03 still says
Oct. 30, 2017.

Yes.  The only way to update DX4WIN 9 files is using Help | Check for
Updates.  The DX4WIN Data Updater does not support DX4WIN 9.  The data
file names are all different.
 
I will continue to update data files for users on DX4WIN 8.05 and
earlier.  Any data file updates announced on the DX4WIN reflector will
be for both DX4WIN 9 as well as earlier versions.

Do you have a radio connected for frequency control?  Is that radio

You can't just import the INI file.  The troublesome setting will
probably still be left behind in the .CFG file.  The only way to do it
is to delete DX4WIN.CFG first, start DX4WIN, then import the INI file
into your preferfences.

Yes, that is the correct way to do it when upgrading.  If you export
then import, you will lose all your group names and filter selections.

I can't duplicate this so called bug.

Just did update on 3 different computers with all a different OS
All went true the normal process and restarted with the previous log
Auto connected to cluster also

I recently went through this same exercise.  Received help directly from Paul.  
In the end, after several tries, he suggested I note all settings, then delete 
the .cfg file.

After doing so I logged back into DX4WIN then clicked on FILE/PREFERENCES and 
re-entered all the data applicable to my station.  Luckily I had written down 
the info needed to allow DX4WIN and my radios to communicate (IN "RADIO" tab).

I then exited the program being sure to SAVE when asked.  The problem was 
corrected.

I close DX4win and start again - DX4WIN use now the right log and 
cluster starts now automatically.


So it's a small bug in in restart routine of DX4WIN - not a big one but 
a bug

Fixed column count must be less than Collin count
I brought it up this morning windows 10 version 805 this is what I got all the 
windows are corrupted
I tried copying her old INI file but that didn’t work either
Any suggestions greatly appreciated

For DX4WIN9 users, this release starts to add callsign => IOTA
mappings.  For example, when logging HQ9X during CQWW CW this weekend,
the IOTA should automatically be filled with NA057 for QSOs made on
25-26 November 2017 only.  For the most part, I have done this for
Canada, Russia, Australia and Argentina, as well as some permanent
residents like 5R8UI.  Many more are coming!

If you are an IOTA chaser, please run QSO | Multiple QSO Operations |
Check IOTAs, then search the "Notes for this QSO" field in your log
for IOTAMSG. If there are messages any you do not understand or appear
to be incorrect, please let me know and I will look into them.
