Onderwerp: Bug in dxcc window filters.

Hello;

I found a bug in showing the logbook.

In my log I have 4 different QSO for JT on 20m in RTTY. (no one confirmed)

If I use the filter (dxcc JT, mode RTTY, band 20m) I see them al in the
logbook form.

If I double click in the DXCC-window on the 20m RTTY, when it shows my
standings for JT, it shows only 2 QSO. That is wrong.

When I double click on DIG in the DXCC-window I see them all (include qso's
on outher bands in RTTY for JT) in the logbook form.

2 of the 4 qso's have a QSL-date. Those that are no QSL-date are not listed.
If I change the uploaddate for one of the qso's without qsl-date. I have the
same result.

If I set a QSL-date then the QSO appear in the logbook form.

I like more that all qso's appear regardless a QSL is send or not.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN networking

2012-07-12 Thread Mel (ve2dc)
Think about what you just wrote. OK I agree, it's a great idea if you never
make mistakes. However, most of us do. DX4Win is an old design where networking
was never considered. If networking is required there are plenty of loging
programs that do this properly.

I do occasionally operate from a second location. I just keep separate logs and
merge.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1ON4AOI on4...@skynet.be wrote:Mel,

This is not true it can work perfect if the user doesn´t make mistakes .

But first my answer to Glyn GW0ANA his question,
The way you expect it to work (updating all 3 instandly) is NOT supported
without tricks or workarounds
But it can be done if the user is alert all the time.

I am NOT going to explain in detail how to setup all because there are always
small risks and you need to spent money
but I am running DX4WIN daily on 4 computers with only one log and never had
any problem.
In short how to:

PC1 is the server (with SSD drive)
You need to buy for instance RealVNC or Radmin or you can use Teamviewer(free)
I have bought licenses for all 3 but prefer Radmin (screen delay is nearly 0
when using digital modes)
PC1 is started up with Radmin server (I only reboot this PC once in a month, no
updates allowed)
DX4WIN is started and running 24/24 (with dropbox for backup etc)

PC2
Here I start Radmin viewer and take over the screen from PC1

PC3
Here I also start Radmin viewer and take over the screen from PC1

PC4
PC5
-
-
-

You can type on any computer and all others are updating without delay.
After each qso I log I have the habit to use ALT-S (qso is written to disk and
also dropbox is updated)

Without delay means that you must have reliable network and if you do it from
remote location high speed internet

Re: [Dx4win] BandMap wildly wrong freq?

2009-08-13 Thread Mel, VE2DC
some worked properly with my contest software

Without knowing more about the code it might not be quite that simple.

The problem is CI-V collision detection as implemented assumes no data loss
other than via collision. This assumption can break down in there are
hardware issues... If Paul followed the book on CI-V protocol this it
might explain the problem. I suspect some programs have added some
additional error checking to get around this issue.

When things settle down we might get Paul's thoughts on this... but right
now I suspect he has his hands full.

One thing you might try, Rick, is CI-V commander. You can download it from
http://www.dxlabsuite.com/commander/
It has a very handy trace feature as well as being absolutely solid
communicating with Icom radios. It's a great troubleshooting tool.

Progress so far: Larry's right. DX4WIN doesn't work with my USB CI-V

(1200 baud and 6 ms poll didn't get any better!) If you're going

 Rebooting didn't help, either.

I'm still trying to get a serial port replicator working to work around

Re: [Dx4win] 8.01 REPORT GENERATOR

2009-08-10 Thread Mel, VE2DC
You seem to be missing the point Larry.

In the case of an electronic gamble as you put it... the M conveys nothing
as ALL contacts are uploaded fairly frequently.

If you also frequently QSL 100% that would also be the case for postcard
gambles. But, in fact, even those who do QSL 100% often do it once or twice
a year and most don't QSL 100%. Also, some awards require a card. The M or
lack of it should indicate some action should be taken if you are pusuing
the confirmation. Setting it to M for an uploaded contact obscures that
important information.

No one, so far, has proposed any logical reason why there should be an M
flag for uploaded Qs.

However, sending a batch of paper cards to the Bureau (which results in an

Mailed has a special meaning. We don't send paper QSLs for all our

confirmed, but it's NOT as significant a step as mailing a QSL card and
expecting one in return. I think the version 7 way was more meaningful.

Yes, I am aware of the Preferences time out itembut it would be
extremely handy to have the spot 'time stamped'...as are the Talk and

Take look at the N1MM bandmap...no time stamp is displayed, however
 holding
the cursor over the spot, you can see when the spot came in...and who

Either way, that would eliminate the need to look at the Bandmap and then
