Gents,

I reported this "issue" some weeks ago but no one answered my question.
I'm having exactly the same problem. Sometimes when using the F8 search key 
for a given callsign or DXCC entity not all data is shown.

Here is what i posted earlier:

Can someone shed a light on the F8 search function? For example, when 
hitting F8 to search all QSO’s for a given entity it never shows all 
contacts in my logbook? Same happens when searching for a specific callsign 
in my log. Today i entered a callsign in the entry window and it showed 
three previous QSO’s, when i searched for that callsign using the F8 key i 
got a message that no data could be found for this call?? Only after hitting 
ALT+F8 the previous QSO’s for that station became visible. How should i 
interprete this? When do i use the “normal” F8 key and when do i use ALT+F8. 
I do not understand the explanation in the help file, it does’nt make sence 
to me.

[Dx4win] F8 Search

Be aware that there are issues when upgrading to Windows10. Your privacy is 
affected with the upgrade, something they don't tell you of course. Not 
being able to connect to your own node might be one of the issues because 
Windows10 does not permit this, unless you comply with an endless list of 
privacy rules.
Next step is they need to know how many cups of coffee one needs in the 
morning..

Not true! It all depends on how you configure Dropbox on both computers. I have 
Dropbox on my PC and Laptop and only the .DXL file gets updated on my Laptop. 
When i by mistake would make any chances to my SAVE file on my Laptop nothing 
happens on my PC because that is how i want it. Besides that, i always have a 
backup in cyberspace in case both my PC and Laptop should crash.

Hi Alan es all,

The best solution to safeguard your entire DX4Win save directory is by 
installing Dropbox on your computer.
Here is the url = http://www.dropbox.com/. It is FREE and it works great. 
After you installed dropbox on your computer you do the same thing on your 
laptop (if you have one) and share the DX4Win save file. It is not 
neccesary to have dropbox on a second computer but i do this because i want 
to have all my data syncronised on both my PC and laptop. In DX4Win 
preferences at the QSO tab you need to define the secundary backup 
directory. The path is use looks like this: C:\Users\Vanderydt 
Theo\Dropbox\DX4Win Save.
Now the good thing about Dropbox is that both your computer can crash and 
your save directory will still be available in dropbox because your file 
is somewere in cyberspace on a remote site. No one, except you, has access 
to this file so no need to worry that some one else can play around with 
your valuable data.
This is hopefully what you have been looking for.

I currently backup my DXL file to an external hard drive. But I would like
to start doing backups to an offsite online site. I currently back up my
Quicken files to the Quicken online backup site but it only holds 1 GB and
costs $49.95 a year to use. I would like to find another online backup site
that will allow me more storage for my DX4WIN DXL file backup, Quicken B/U,
some of my word docs and photos. I have looked into Windows Cloud and
SyncToy but can't determine the size or cost. Best Buy sells 30 GB storage
for $49.99 a year on their SugarSync site.



I am curious to what online backup sites others may be using and can
recommend.

I too am puzzled with the looks and logic of the calender.
Why is the date not showing in front of each event for example? What is the 
purpose of listing events one year from today?
I only want to see events that are actually running during the timeframe 
they are on air.
If i hit the cleanup key nothing happens, all the past events are still 
showing in the calender.
What am i missing?

It's downloaded to the UPDATE directory but NOT imported.  The program
reminds you about this.

[Dx4win] INSERT HOLDING ?

Can some one please explain to me what the INSERT key should do when hit in one 
of the packet screens ?
No matter how many times i hit this key (i know once is enough) the spots in 
the packet screen keep on scrolling up.
Am i mis interpreting this funtction or what?

I want to remove some information in the Notes for this QSL field:
eg: Freq=14.0 MHz|CQ WW DX Contest - Phone. I want to remove the first part
of this line iow Freq=14.0 MHz. Is there a way to do this for multiple 
logbook entries ?

I have about 4 entries who need to be edited this way.
Any suggestions ?

the IOTA database did'nt show
AS199/p Andrah Pradesh State South Group. I have updated the database using 
a text editor and added

this (provisional) number. I QSO'd AT2RS from this group.

[Dx4win] RE: Program Lock ups

To All;

I recently started to have a problem with my DX4WIN. I am using version
7.03.16. In the last couple of days I have started experiencing lockups
(possible CPU utilization) not sure though as I can not do anything with any
of the other programs. Twice now, the system tells me there is a problem
with the application and it needs to shut it down.  I am using Windows XP SP
2 with all of the security fixes. I use Norton Internet Security 2008.
Attached to the computer, I have a Kenwood TS-570 and a Kantronics KAM, both
using a USB to serial converters.  Other then the operating system, is there
any logs I can look at to see what is going on does any one have any other

Get rid of  NORTON internet security ! Its the worst software i've ever had 
on my computer.
I too had all sorts of issues and they all vanished the moment i moved 
Norton to the
waste bin.

Hi John,

Let me explain this step by step and you'll see it works.
1) Open Win-EQF
2) From the log entry window select operation - from the drop down menu 
select search logbook
3) From this window (left box) hit the F5 key this changes Fill in empty 
logbook fields into YES
On the right side box scroll up/down till #2  search fields for patern 
is highlighted and hit enter.
4) From this window  Search results output to:  select #2   screen and 
hit enter.
5) From this window select State  (nothing else !)
6) Next window asks for patern to search for Just hit enter and leave 
blank!
7) Show detailed format Choose either Yes or No ( I usually choose No). 
Hit enter.
8) Win-EQF starts now searching automatically for blank fields and retrieves 
data from the CD rom
and fill in the empty fields.
9) When done you'll see (for example) 600 QSO's  found. Hit ESC and the 
program return to the log entry
window.

Thats all! Now have a look in your logbook and find out that all previous 
empty fields are filled in with
data from the CD even if you only selected State in step 5!
Export this log using the import/export feature. When using this feature you 
can choose to export this log in
ADIF format so you can easily import it back into DX4Win.

I'm sure if you follow the above steps you should see the results you need.

[Dx4win] re: Disappearing spots

This is in DXCC mode.  When I switch to WPX mode and then back to
DXCC mode, the XF4DL spots are gone.  Again, it's happened with other
callsigns, but this is the first one I can remember.  Any idea what's going
on?  Why would a spot disappear by switching to WPX and back to DXCC mode
again?

Hi all,

When entering a callsign into the callsign field and hitting the F3 key, to 
bring up the information from the CD rom, there is this  update qso button 
but this does'nt seem to work here? Is this supposed to fill in the empty 
fields in the logbook window? I also tried with F10 key but no avail. Am i 
doing something wrong or just mis interpreting?
Suggestions or help is appreciated !

thick pills again.  I looked at the winkey site and they do the same
yada yada yada about winkey but they don't actually say what extra
functionality it gives.  So what tricks does this thing do that makes it
a must have item?

Out here on Planet Earth are some species who do the CODE and try to use all 
sorts of devices but especially WinKey for sending morse code, CW, dit dit 
dah dah dit dit. It is indead a must have item, everyone ownes a car too, 
right?

as NOTES, so that I could import both the name and the person's state or
section into the notes for call field.

In suggest it must be made possible to retrieve all relevant information , 
eg: Name, State, City etc, from the CD rom.
After importing whatever log there must be some sort of possibility to fill 
in the blank fields of your log.
Other Loggers of  less quality can do this!

Help!   I am new to this reflector and cannot find any reference to this
problem in the archives.
 
I have interfaced DX4WIN, Ver 6.03, with the ICOM IC-7800
 
It reads and writes frequencies, sets spot frequencies and modes, etc.
correctly to the MAIN VFO just fine
 
It sets the SPLIT function ON when the spot indicates split operation, or
if SPLIT is already set and the 
spot has no split indicated, turns split off if it was already on.
 
Problem is that SUB VFO frequency and mode are NOT set.  For example if the
spot indicates split, and shows the split
frequency, the split function is turned on but the frequency and mode of
the SUB VFO is not changed.
 
Should I expect the frequency and mode to change in the SUB vfo?   If so,
anyone know how to make it happen?
 
( Sure gotta pay attention to that, embarrasing to make calls on the wrong
freq, band, etc, HI )

Hi All,

Is there  a way to fill in empty fields in DX-4win after importing data =
from contestlogging software.
eg. I had data imported after using N1MM-logger. When opening the =
logbook window i notice some fields like state,grid, name etc.. are left =
blank.
I could fill in these blanks manualy but this takes too mutch time. I =
wonder if this can be done automatically ?
Any help will be welcome. Thanks in advance.
