It is fine with how it is for me. Been with since the beginning.. I'm
getting to old and forgetful for a big change. As long as its functional.

Hi.

I have used the DX4Win version for many years, I think that since the late
80s or early 90s.

I have considered that it is a very stable program, and as some users have
indicated here, to upload an Adif file to LOTW only a couple of clicks are
needed and it only takes a couple of minutes.

We must also thank Jim, for the maintenance of the databases and the
complementary programs he has developed so that everything was easier.

But I also have to say against him, that when there was a review of version
8, the windows changed position every time the program opened.

Here they told me a solution to always remain in the same place, but it did
not work for me, and every time the program starts I have to manually place
the windows in their position.

I think Paul must correct that problem, before moving on to version 9,
since many users continue working with version 8.

For the rest it seems to me that it is a great program that meets very well
and I do not think you are willing to start a new learning curve with
another program.

This is my humble opinion as a user.

Greetings to all.

This is a great program with a very active user base, but very little

buying

Paul, I think it is about time that you let us know what your future

In fact, if you were willing to talk I would suggest that we form a

fun for the users to take ownership in the application. The biggest

issue

is can we find users who have the technical background to support the

I would be very happy if that were possible, a hug and thanks for putting

Maybe Paul could modify the display of the "CQ DX Field" window, to
optionally support either just 2 letters, or 2 letters + 2 numbers.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN.CTY country file Release #18.5 - 22 March 2018

Like very much the way this works now. And thanks to Jim for keeping it
going. I could use "VERSION" as a new WPX though, but never hear him.:-)

I would like to just interject a little note here.
Reading all the posts it seems many people are having problems with
the latest CTY files.
If you read the release notes that Jim places on his CTY release
emails it will tell you what to look for after an update.
For example I go to HELP (on the main menu) and click check for
updates. If there are updates I allow DX4WIN to install them.
I look at the release notes so I can confirm I have the latest CTY
file. To check for the latest version type VERSION in the Callsign
window and hit return. The version notes says I should see Tanzania,
5H for the country, which it does. In the QSL Mgr box it shows
22-MAR-2018, which is the date of the release. If you see these then
you know you have the latest CTY file. This update function of Ver 9.0
is so much better than the previous update methods.

Re: [Dx4win] Not saving updates from QRZ

2018-02-11 Thread W9RPM
Jim, I just noticed that it started on Dec 11th, 2017. Once in a while
it was OK. When I would try and update it now, it will sometimes save
the Grid, but not the county. I have to manually put that it. Wish I
would have noticed it before. A pain to go back. I guess I should have
checked my county totals.:-):Sure hope a fix can come.

John, I think I have seen this myself, but only in version 9. I still
can't tell what causes it, and it does not happen all the time, only

Re: [Dx4win] DX0P

2017-11-18 Thread W9RPM
Rick, I worked them on the 24th while they were waiting for the ship to
come. It is confirmed with LOTW and card. This musty be why DX4WIN
didn't mark it as 1S.

Apr 22, 2015 - As of yesterday, antennas had been taken down, most of
the equipment packed. Now the wait is on for the ship to take the team
back to Puerto Princesa, Palawan on April 22. While waiting for the
ship, /DX0P/ will still be up on the air intermittently using homebrewed
dipoles cut for mono band operations ...

[Dx4win] ADI file

2017-11-05 Thread W9RPM
Why can't I import the ADI file that I exported before back into DX4WIN?
EXPORT/IMPORT is grayed out when I try.

named it W9RPM.adi, and now I can't import it.  John

Are those DX spots in the DX Spots window coming up in the "needed"
color (red)? If not, then go to File | Awards. The DXCC tab should
be active. Under Awards, make sure there is a checkmark next to Band.

Also, right-click on the DX Spots window and make sure "DXCC Colors"

If your radio interface is active, then this is the expected behavior,
assuming the radio is set to USB or LSB to make FT8 QSOs. DX4WIN
always tries to use the selected radio mode if the radio interface is
active.  This would have also been true for RTTY if you were using
AFSK keying.  In other words, it's not something new, but perhaps
something that could be improved upon.

I find it easier to just do all my FT8 work in WSJT-X and periodically
import the ADIF file into DX4WIN.  I know that some people would like
to see things more integrated.

[Dx4win] FT8

Hi, Do I have to do something in V9.01 when I click on an FT8 spot in
the DX spots window? The Radio will go to the correct frequency and FT8
mode briefly, and then to SSB in the Mode window in the log window.
Also, clicking on an FT8 spot in 160, it does the same thing except the

low bands.

Maybe just use the program without Rig control?

...suggest you post this to the DX4Win list as my troubleshooting skills
went out of date years ago but hopefully someone on the list will have
more current skill set. Have you looked at DDutil? This replicates the
CAT port about 6 times and I think the app can even be daisy chained. It
is used extensively with the Flex series of SDR radios.

one is longer than the one before it. I am not sure if another Virtual
Serial Port program would alleviate the problem or not. I am using
Win7 64 bit. The problem only occurs when more than DX4WIN is running.

Mike, I don't want it gone, but I am having a polling issue with
the Panadapter I use. Been trying to eliminate causes. Been playing
with the polling numbers on the programs, but still happens. If I
have more than DX4WIN running, then sometimes the mode and band
change in the QSO window and the Freq box also. The radio itself
doesn't change.

So sometimes unless I really pay attention, then the log might have
the mode as RTTY, 20m but the Freq might show 21080 kHz. It will
flip back and forth.

That's what I am getting at.

If you add your log info off line instead of real time you get no
info from the radio.

Not trying to be a smart a.. but people screamed for years to have
the actual frequency appear in the log and, now that it is there,
someone wants it gone.

Anyway you can turn it off so that the Frequency of the radio
doesn't appear?
Thanks, John
