[Dx4win] CW keying issue v8.03

2010-02-01 Thread Alexander Popov
I have the same problem here. I am using v8.03, Windows XP, SP3 , USB
interface RigExpert Tiny, virtuale: COM1 - CAT; COM2, PTT delay 0, DTR =
CW keying, RTS = PTT. When I start a CW keyboard message the FT1000MP locks
on key down. Changes and values DTR and RTS do not give positive result.
Ver 8.02 with the specified adjustments - CW works perfectly (CW device type
DX4WIN - not WinKey)

[Dx4win] CW Keying Issue w/8.03

2010-01-12 Thread Wayne King
OS:XP
Brand of Desktop =Dell B110
Real serial on boardTo be sure check in control panel|system|device manager
if the comport is installed ok
normally it should be Yes it is and it works with V7.05/7.04
9600 = Baud
8 bits
None=parity
1 stopbit
None=flow control

DX4WIN SETUP
COMPORT = COM1 (on board)DELAY = 1
CW = DTR
PTT = RTS CW keying via com port 1 works with ver V7.05/7.04, not with V8.03
with same everything.Cw just hangs and I have to select NO com port to turn
it off with V8.03Now, I have tried the LPT Port and I like to run 2 radio's
and key via the keyboard. V8.03 keys radio #1 CW Good but on radio #2 it
just sends ditdah ditdah ditdahditdah ditdah no matter what I send via the
keyboard. Also the LPT driver seems to slow the computer downI have
tried it on 2 computers (p4's 2.5g w/2g Ram )and I had to uninstall the
driver to speed up my computers. Is anyone else having keying issues with
XPI have setup and run LPT port with V7.04 in the past with 2 radio's
and had no porblem with my SO2R box. I don't know what is going on with
V8.03??I have spent 2 days trying to find a solution. Like I stated before I
can run the older versions with no trouble.Other programs WL/N1MM work fine
so I have to say at this point it's DX4WIN V 8.03.Any help is
appreciated,HNY Wayne N2WK

8.03 preferences
Works no problem on 8.02

Windows XP SP3
Com port 3 DTR on PCI Vscom dual port board
FT2000

Solution is use other software at the moment, which I don't want to do.

Thanks

I am using Windows 7 and always log on as an administrator. Right clicking
the DX4WIN logo and clicking run as administrator makes no difference as far
as I can see. I still cannot get the CW keying to work with DX4WIN.

Maybe someone with the problem can try this to tell me if it works (it
worked in one of my friends).
Do a right click on dx4win icon and in properties choose to run it always as
administrator (if you have 7 or vista).
I wonder if XP users with the problem have administrator rights?
Just an idea.

Re: [Dx4win] CW keying issue?

2010-01-04 Thread David, K2DBK
Mel,

I did a ton of testing off-list with Guy, Paul, and Jim and reported
pretty much all of the info that you've mentioned, as well as doing
low-level traces showing the actual calls to the OS to manipulate the
status of the control lines.. As Guy said, the tough part is that
neither Guy nor Paul can reproduce the issue which makes it difficult to
troubleshoot. I don't want to flood the list with reports, but I do
agree that it would make sense for folks who are having the issue to
report in so that maybe some kind of pattern can be found.

Re: [Dx4win] CW keying issue?

2010-01-04 Thread Mel
Perhaps all having this issue could report EXACT details about OS
hardware and drivers being used as well as version numbers if possible.
Even information about the MB and BIOS might help find a common thread.
It's one of those times where pedantic detail is called for. I have
tried it on 2 computers with 2 OS's without issue. I have others if I
knew what we are looking for.

BTW, just for general interest, this is why most commercial enterprises
try to standardize their computer assets as much as possible. Tracking
down hardware dependent issues can be time consuming!

[Dx4win] CW keying issue?

2010-01-03 Thread Ian Trusson
I have been following the "CW Keying Issue" thread in the archive, but the
thread seemed to come to an end on 28 Dec 2009 without a resolution.

I have the same problem here. I am using v8.03, Windows 7, USB to serial
converter, COM1, PTT delay 1, DTR = CW keying, RTS = PTT. When I start a CW
keyboard message the FT1000MP locks on key down.

Is there any more info on this problem?

Re: [Dx4win] CW keying issue? Anyone?

2009-12-28 Thread David Kozinn, K2DBK
Just as a follow-up, I switched the keying from COM3, which is on an
added-on card to COM1, which is the serial port located on the
motherboard (on the off chance there was something odd about the serial
port drivers) and unfortunately it made no difference.

[Dx4win] CW keying issue? Anyone?

2009-12-28 Thread David, K2DBK
So has anyone else got any thoughts about the issue with CW keying
locking up in version 8.03? As I posted to this list, I've tried
literally every combination of using CW Keying & PTT on both DTR and RTS
with no luck. I've tried a completely clean install on the same computer
with the same issue. (Specifically, sending any CW results is the rig
going into xmit and staying there, until I either exit D4W or go into CW
setup and select then de-select Tune). The only test that I haven't done
yet will be to move to a different COM port. (The problem is that if
that works, I need to reconfigure all the other software that I use.)

This works perfectly using version 8.02 (and prior) using the exact same
hardware configuration. I've verified the the keying setup continues to
work with programs that it worked with before I went to 8.03, and even
added a couple of new programs recently just as a test which all work
fine. (DTR on COM3 to be used for CW keying. I normally don't use PTT at
all since I run QSK, but it doesn't seem to matter whether I have PTT
configured or not.)

I'm temporarily using CWType (a 3rd party program) to send CW from the
keyboard, but I'd really like to have the functionality back. I know
that I'm not the only one complaining, and I do know this can be a busy
time of the year to get around to things, so I am just trying to remind
the folks out there that I'd really like to get this working again. I am
more than happy to try test/debugging builds, whatever it takes. (And
I'm trying to get my fist so that this would be a lot less of an issue,
but it's just slow going folks!)

Thanks.
