When I start up it defaults to group 0 (all contacts) but what I really want is for it to default to Group 1 (US Contacts). Any ideas?? DX4WIN can't do this. Maybe Paul will add it to his list. Even just opening up the same group that was open last time would be an improvement. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.us From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jun 1 14:55:12 2006 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Dick Flanagan K7VC) Date: Thu Jun 1 15:01:21 2006 Subject: [Dx4win] Combining Logs In-Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] References: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I use group numbers to both differentiate between callsigns and contests. My earlier callsign defaulted to Group 0 and various contests were Groups 1, 2, 3, etc. up to about 17 when I changed callsigns. I then chose to use 20 as the default for my new callsign and now contests start from there, 21, 22, 23, etc. YMMV, but it has worked well for me. 73, Dick At 11:40 AM 6/1/2006, Darrell Earnshaw wrote: While I don't think that was the original intent of the group number, it can easily be used for that purpose. I used it that way for a number of years: G4MZF/W4 (VA) - Group 1 NR3Y (VA): Group 2 NR3Y (CA): Group 3 This allowed me to separate reports - all entries (Group 0) for DXCC and yet ability to select VA versus CA for WAS awards. Now I use date filters to segment the log instead, which I think is a better approach. It also frees up the Group numbers for other uses, such as contest identifiers. 73, Darrell

I'm leaning toward using the GROUP field instead. As long as you are in the same DXCC entity, groups are easier to manage. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.us From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jun 1 15:03:46 2006 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Dick Flanagan) Date: Thu Jun 1 15:09:49 2006 Subject: [Dx4win] Group Startup Options Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] At 11:56 AM 6/1/2006, Jim Reisert wrote: --- Dick Flanagan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: At 11:37 AM 6/1/2006, Tom LeClerc W1TJL wrote: And here's a question I could not find an answer to in the groups documentation - How do I set a particular group to be the default group when DX4Win starts up?? The right top entry allows you to set the default group number. 73, Roger -- Remember the USS Liberty (AGTR-5) http://ussliberty.org/ From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jun 1 15:38:12 2006 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Roger D Johnson) Date: Thu Jun 1 15:44:15 2006 Subject: [Dx4win] Group Startup Options In-Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] References: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dick Flanagan wrote: At 11:56 AM 6/1/2006, Jim Reisert wrote: --- Dick Flanagan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: At 11:37 AM 6/1/2006, Tom LeClerc W1TJL wrote: And here's a question I could not find an answer to in the groups documentation - How do I set a particular group to be the default group when DX4Win starts up?? All the groups associated with that log are loaded at startup. You can set the group that new contacts are added to. This would be handy for separating mobile contacts from home station contacts for instance; or keeping track of special event stations such as the recent German World Cup stations. If you only want contacts from one group to be displayed, I think you would have to put them in a separate log. 73, Roger -- Remember the USS Liberty (AGTR-5) http://ussliberty.org/ From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Jun 1 17:35:24 2006 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Darrell Earnshaw) Date: Thu Jun 1 17:41:24 2006 Subject: [Dx4win] Group Startup Options References: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - Original Message - From: Roger D Johnson [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: DX4WIN Reflector dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Thursday, June 01, 2006 12:38 PM Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Group Startup Options Dick Flanagan wrote: At 11:56 AM 6/1/2006, Jim Reisert wrote: --- Dick Flanagan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: At 11:37 AM 6/1/2006, Tom LeClerc W1TJL wrote: And here's a question I could not find an answer to in the groups documentation - How do I set a particular group to be the default group when DX4Win starts up?? As I said, I can't confirm this right now. -- Darrell

Jim, This would lead to too many support requests I cannot find certain QSOs; I saw them yesterday, but now they are not there anymore etc. --Paul At 02:55 PM 6/1/2006, Jim Reisert AD1C wrote: --- Tom LeClerc W1TJL [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: And here's a question I could not find an answer to in the groups documentation - How do I set a particular group to be the default group when DX4Win starts up??
