[Dx4win] CW keying in DX4WIN

need some help! I recently got DX4WIN 8.05 and microHam router 8.40 to 
use with new computer and win 7 of course this turns into a problem. 
with writelog and winkey it works great. But trying to key the 2000D 
this morning from DX4WIN it no longer works. it used to with XP and the 
older version. So anyone can share their preference settings in Dx4WIN 
and Micro router to get this working? I have tried everything but it 
just keys up continuously... sure would like to get my preset  messages 
working in DX4WIN, I don't care if DX4WIN keys the rig or winkey, just 
want it to work! any advice? Thanks, Cort K4WI

found another isue very similiar. I tried to get DX4WIN to use WINKEY 
which works great in Writelog using the key or F messages. In DX4WIN the 
key will work but when you open the keyboard window a message pops up 
saying that it could not open the winkey port... something in DX4WIN is 
not working with the router... ideas? Cort

Cort,

As always, start with the example configuration for DX4Win and MK II
from microHAM.  In Router (Help | Download Documents) or on-line in
the MK II area at www.microham-USA.com/support.html.

DX4Win's support for MMTTY is a bit strange in FSK in that you must
run MMTTY stand alone from the same path as used in DX4Win to configure
the FSK port and set Configure MMTTY | MISC | TX Port to COM-TxD(FSK)
because there is no way to pass the port/FSK setting from the DX4Win
MMTTY window.

I have a question for you all... I am using FT2000D with microHam2 to 
WIN 7 PRO with Writelog and DX4WIN with MMTTY add on. Works great with 
Writelog but no dice with DX4WIn. MMTTY is located in 
C:\ham\mmtty\mmtty.exe and i use a virtual port 7 ... this works great 
with Writelog but when I select mmtty in DX4WIN from log entry/ 
window/mmtty I get a window that says mmtty could not be started, click 
ok and an empty mmtty window opens that is empty and non-responsive. In 
DX4WIN's preference under RTTY I have the above address shown at the 
bottom in the MMTTY window, com port 7, type = none! Any ideas of what 
to try? thanks Cort K4WI

hi George, thanks for the reply. I am using microkeyer2 to usb to win7 
pro and DX4WIN. The preference CW tab has Device type set to WinKey, 
Interface set to com4, external keyer set to com4. When you select 
keyboard keyer window in DX4WIN, a window opens with can not open com 
port 4. I am having the same issues trying to get DX4WIN to open MMTTY 
and Settings in the microham router are set as spec in help file and 
nothing works with DX4WIN. Stand alone and Writelog, both winkey and 
MMTTY work perfectly... so it is an issue with DX4WIN and microham 
router... I just don't know how to resolve! thanks, Cort K4WI

I have my WinKey connected to my Kenwood TS-990 and using DX4WIN. The 
set-up has been working fine for over 1 year now when I run my remote 
operation. You must have Com port communications from your computer to 
the WinKey and that Com port assigned in DX4WIN preferences, CW tab.

The device type is set to WinKey.
External Keyer is set to the Com port that is communicating with the 
WinKey.

I suspect you do not have the WinKey talking to the computers com port.

[Dx4win] LOTW

hey guys, need some help with sending the last few months to LOTW. The 
dates would be Mar 9,2016 to today. Everything I try to do it wants to 
send the whole 120,000 qsos in my log. Most of my lotw postings are thru 
Writelog which is so easy. Maybe there are just some simple steps to do 
this also. Reading the help files just confuses me even more... old

%x (small x) sends the date, so that is why you are sending the date.  
I think you want %X (capital X), which starts the transmission - even 
though it says starts a PSK transmission.  %X is what I am using.


Offhand, I can't find the complete definitions of all the control keys 
with capital letters - maybe someone else can point us at it.

hi all need some help getting mmtty to work in dx4win. I am trying to 
get the rtty buttons programed but I am not clear on what %(letter) 
starts transmission. %e stops it. I have %x will start it but sends a 
date along with it which is not what I want. F1 button is this: 
CQ|%x%Mcq cq cq de %~ %~%m%E .This works but sends 1/16/2016 in front of 
CQ etc. The help file shows nothing other than %M, %C, and %X what 
to use in place? thanks Cort K4WI

ok, go to preferences, then qso tab, uncheck Check Calender at startup, 
save changes and exit. cleared it up for me. I have no idea why it 
showed up all of a sudden except maybe the new updater thought this was

ok, I use a 2000D hooked to my computer via a microKeyer 2 by microHAM. 
I downloaded JT65-hf and it seemed to be much simpler. I have com port 3 
for keying and rig control/freq etc selected as it is that way in the 
microHAM router. BUT, it will key but no audio received or sent and no 
freq showing. I have tried all combos of listed devices and no luck. 
Somehow I knew that this was not going to be easy!! lol any help/ideas?

well, I have been noticing that a lot of good dx is being spotted on 
jt65 up around 50276 or so. Don't know anything about this but thought 
maybe it might be something worth while to look into. So, I down loaded 
WSJT and have it installed but looks to be very confusing to be sure. So 
any help on getting me started would be appreciated. I also down loaded 
the instructions and I can tell this is going to take some time and 
effort to get it all playing correctly. I use DX4WIN for my general 
logging so maybe I would have to have both programs open at the same

thanks for the response Joe everything was all ok with the 
router spent a lot of time with it ended up deleting everything 
and started over with new presets problem was still there. Thought 
about this several times during the night and decided it had to be a 
dx4win issue as that was the only time it showed up. So this morning I 
was going over and over the preferences in dx4win and thought about the 
rtty/mmtty window being open. I closed it and problem went away. SSB/vox 
works just fine. so went to options in mmtty and discovered somehow 
under DEVICES it was showing -1, changed those to 1 and all is back to 
normal again.  Life was much simpler under XP... guess win 10 must have 
changed those values. Took me over 5 hours to sort this out... but all

Is microHAM Router properly following the frequency and mode of your
transceiver?

What are the settings on the Audio Switching tab in microHAM Router?
Is the Voice/Digital settings selector set to "Use Voice Settings"?

Is "Computer generated audio fed to:" set to "Microphone jack, DVK 
Control" for voice?


Your symptoms indicate the audio is set improperly with the mic
routed *through* the sound card/computer.  When MMTTY opens, the
sound card input is switched from mic to line disabling your audio.

well, I found a partial solution to my new problem. Everything worked 
fine with no program open, worked fine with writelog; but when I opened 
DX4WIN I would lose the transmit audio, no vox, could manually key the 
rig but no audio. I redid everything but no fix. Since this only showed 
up under dx4win the problem had to be there. Normally, I have the 
rtty/mmtty window open along with the rest of the windows... on a hunch 
I closed them and voila SSB audio is back. So now the problem is 
narrowed to the rtty settings... looked at them and all seems as usual 
but something had to have changed... just have to find it! So far I have 
at least 5 hours of time racked up messing with this! Life used to be 
simple lol, thanks, Cort K4WI

New problem has developed! Last week I used DX4WIN no problem worked 
many stations SSB and CW via microHam router in WIN 10... worked great. 
This weekend played in CQWW VHF test , hit the writelog preset and 
everything worked great SSB and CW. Today I wanted to work on six 
again... clicked on DX4WIN preset and opened DX4WIN. I have CW but no 
SSB audio. Something has changed... I can go back to Writelog and all 
works ssb and cw... just in DX4WIN no ssb vox or manual (in manual rig 
keys just no audio). I have looked at preferences... no changes, 
router... no changes... win 10 sounds... no changes.. help I don't 
know what else to check. Went thru the router setup file again for 
dx4win and don't see anything to be set different. Rig is FT2000D and 
all controls are still at their normal setting! Thanks for any ideas!

from WIN7... finally got everything working again... sort of When i 
open DX4WIN now some of the windows are missing. can't find CW 
keyboard,zone, sunrise/sunset and a couple of others from the drop down 
menu. They are not behind any of the other windows open I have moved 
everything around to check. So they must be off screen somehow. Question 
is how to get them back There is plenty of room for these across two

I think that happened to me last year as well. If memory serves me 
right, I

think all you do is go to Preferences, Screen and uncheck the Leave All
Windows in Original Position. Then close and restart the program. The
windows should move back into the center of the screens. You can 
reposition

them the way that you want them and the go back and recheck the Leave All
Windows in Original Position box before you close the program.

perhaps someone has an answer: when ever I open the dx4win program the 
last log entry shows up in the log entry window. I have to hit F9 to get 
rid of it and ready for a new entry. No big deal but if I forget it logs 
the old contact again... would be much easier if it opened with no 
entry any way to make this happen?  looked thru preferences but

well, then you have the answer... how do you get it to open in ADD-REAL 
TIME? This is exactly what I want it to do. I never open any radio 
software before the radio is turned on. MicroHam router software loads 
up at start up so radio and computer are talking first then I select 
either DX4WIN or Writelog... shut down goes in reverse. Thanks, Cort K4WI

Mine opens in Add Real-time mode and does time-out when I forget to 
turn on the radio. My fix is to try to remember to turn on the radio. :)

hey Tom, I would like for the program to open with a blank window and 
showing the current band/mode. Now, when I open it for example E51DWC is 
my last qso on 18 mhz on rtty. F9 gets rid of this but if I forget and 
try to type a new call in say F5AAA on 28 mhz CW and hit enter,  a mess 
comes about. So much simpler if DX4WIN opened in an empty logging window 
on the current band/mode. What is the motivation for opening with the 
last contact... it already shows up in the log! just wondering! 73's

That sounds right. To log a station I hit F9, enter the necessary 
info, and then I save everything.


If I then shut down DX4WIN and come back later, my last QSO is shown 
when I open the program.


If I then want to log another QSO, I hit F9 and log the new contact.

I'm not sure why your program is re-logging an already logged and 
saved contact. But I may not be understanding your situation correctly.

well Jim and All, I am somewhat closer to getting this to work. Opened 
preferences/ext data tab; deleted D:\ from data directory box, added 
same web address to qsl manager lookup; saved and quit. Now hitting F3 
on a call entered brings up new window Callsign/Mgr lookup, call appears 
in lower left, hit enter and a separate brouser window for qrz opens 
you have to log in to QRZ site and data appears in that window. I would 
think that the data/info would show up in the Callsign/Mgr lookup 
window... stays blank except for the call on the lower left. Is this the 
normal way it is supposed to work?  At least I am closer! Thanks  Cort K4WI

Hi Courtney,
When the box for callsign lookup opens, is the call sign in the box on 
the lower left?

Are you pressing "Enter" after the box opens?

Other things to check in Dx4Win Setup Parameters:

In personal tab - enter Expert in user level.
In Ext Data Tab - Data Source = none.
Data Directory - D:\ (not real sure if that is needed).
Website Callsign Lookup: Ensure "Callsign Lookup Address" box is checked.

Hope that helps. I will continue to look for other items.

hey Jim, I have the link entered/saved in callsign lookup tab. close 
and enter a call in the enter window to log it and hit F3 window 
opens with that callsign but nothing shows  so I am somewhat

is were the problem is. I was hoping there might be a free data base to

Hello Courtney,

That feature does not exist in dx4win. To use it with another program, 
you must be an XML subscriber with QRZ.


I just keep QRZ open in a browser window and look up calls that way.

wow, worked 3 new RTTY dxcc today: 9U4M,VP2MDC and J5T looking for 
VK9MA for another. BUT, last evening I saw 9U4M spotted on 40 doing rtty 
up 2. So I dropped down to 40 and sure enough Gritty showed him working 
on the spotted freq correctly. here is where things get crazy. I have 
been using MMTTY with DX4WIN and Writelog thru microHam keyer with the 
router software. Never had any problems or seen this behavior before. 
When I looked at the MMTTY print out window I see everything printed out 
in reverse... that is qc qc m4u9 m4u9 pu gritty shows them correctly 
so I know it's not them. So I send my call... looks like this iw4k iw4k 
iw4k this has me completely buffaloed for the next hour and half 
I went thru dx4win preferences, mmtty setup, and microham router looking 
for anything out of place and for something to get it right again. I 
have never seen this in all the time before. Nothing I did worked. 
Finally just for something to do I clicked on CLEAR in the mmtty print 
window. Voila! Back to normal and was able to get the 9U4 boys in the 
log. Can anyone explain this behavior or is it this old dude going

I am using the latest version of MMTTY 1.70K. When I launch MMTTY 
using the

WINDOW>MMTTY menu in DX4WIN 9.02, the bottom 1/4 of the following are
missing: the FFT display, the squelch bar and the waterfall. If I enlarge
MMTTY to full screen then reduce the size to the normal size (about 2"
tall), the displays are OK. Not a big deal but irritating. If I launch 
MMTTY

directly from the desktop (not through DX4WIN) it appears as it should,
correctly at 2"high. MMTTY is located in c:\ham\MMTTY. Any ideas?

well finally got it all up and working as it should today! The problem 
that had me stumped for the last day was clicking on any pre-made 
message in MMTTY. The display in MMTTY showed the message being sent but 
the rig just didn't key up. I figured this was a PTT problem somewhere 
in DX4WIN, MMTTY or Microham Router. I changed a bunch of things but no 
luck. Swapped back and forth from 8.05 to 9 to see what was different. 
Set everything the same back to original before experimenting and still 
no luck. Still the same... worked great in 8.05 but would not send in 
ver9. AHH Ha!!! That's when I realized I had changed the messages in 
ver9 to be like the ones in 8.05. Guess what... there had to be a space 
between %X%M before the message IE: CQ|%X%M cq cq cq de k4wi%M%e 
instead of CQ|%X%Mcq cq cq de k4wi%M%e , added the space and works like 
before. Also discovered the %X... the X has to be in caps! So far 
pleased with the new version only think I could wish for is the 
having to hit F9 to change to real time logging prefer for it to

well, not going so good. Downloaded ver9, ordered upgrade, received zip 
file with key and invoice. all ok so far. unzipped both invoice is 
ok, but win 10 did not know how to open the key file so I selected 
notepad and several hundred letters/numbers showed up and no 
instructions.  Somehow I don't think this is right.  Any clue as to what

You can edit the list by going into the cluster file in the SAVE 
folder. It's a .txt fill. I put my favorites at the top of the 
listand then all of the others below. You could even delete the 
ones you never use. Or even make a backup file with all of them, while 
the file you actually use could only have the few you use all the 
time. You can always go back to the backup file...and often the 
cluster list fille gets updated anyway.


Related, you can go into preferencs and set the cluster you want to 
automatically connect to every time at startup.

nodes listed... all in good but is there anyway to limit this list to 
just the few that I really want to connect to? Scrolling thru this list

I can no longer hook up with my normal cluster nodes... K4ZR,k4ea ETC. i 
still connect with VE7CC and K1TTT and some others but not the ones 
close by. I have the program to auto connect on start-up to K4ZR but

upgraded to latest 9.05 and the winkeyer doesn't work. I am using FT5000 
with microKeyer2. Everything worked in previous version but now radio 
keys up and it acts like it is sending but nothing happening. Checked 
both dx4win and microham software but don't see what needs to be 
adjusted... radio and PTT is on com5 and winkeyer on com4 any ideas?

last night winkey worked great with Writelog but no keying with Dx4WIN 
thru microKeyer2. All the settings were the same as 9.04. Turned 
everything off and went to bed. Got up this morning switched on and 
VOILA everything now working go figure! So I am in the dark as to

[Dx4win] 9.0.8 update

Thanks Paul for the latest update. I absolutely love DX4WIN and have 
been with it since the beginning. With Writelog I pretty well have 
everything I want in software and my station. BUT, there are a couple of 
preferences I would like to see change with DX4WIN.


First, when you first open the program the log entry window defaults to 
the last entry logged you have to hit F9 to get it to a new entry 
window. I forget and next thing I have two entries of the same call. I 
would much prefer for the default position to be open the log window to 
a new entry.


Second, when you want to spot an entry the default has the IOTA checked 
and will include it with the spot I have to remember to un-check 
this before every spot. Default would be better to have this not checked.


Third, I would like to see a better system of sending info to LOTW as in 
Writelog... save it as a ADIF file, email and done I would like to 
update monthly to LOTW and it is pretty confusing to this old dude right 
now.


SO, hopefully the next update could see these preference changes. Anyone

[Dx4win] problem solved

I finally got my mmtty/rtty problem sorted out this morning all thanks 
to the great help from Joe W4TV who gave me many pointers and areas to 
look at. Turned out to be very simple opening the Keying Setup and 
changing that port to PTT Control and RTS fixed the problem. Now I wish 
I knew how it got that way to start with. Up until last Friday 
everything worked normally but then WIN10 did an update and I also 
downloaded the latest DX4WIN, latest microHam router, and latest MMTTY 
version. Somehow that stirred the pot enough that I could no longer send 
RTTY thru DX4WIN and MMTTY. I just hate these mysteries but I can't 
thank Joe enough for his suggestions and getting me back to normal 
again. Now , WIN10 has another update slated for today I just hope I

I am having RTTY problems all of a sudden here. Using DX4WIN 9.0.9.1259 
version along with MMTTY 1.68. The stand alone MMTTY program is set up 
for FSK in the set up menu on COM port 7 . This works great in Writelog 
and used to in DX4WIN. Now when I hit one of the message keys in MMTTY 
it just sends a steady carrier checking the setup it shows no FSK 
available and only SOUND checked so I think this is where my problem 
is! I see no way in DX4WIN to change this behavior or in MMTTY. I am 
using a MicroHam 2 with router software and all are set to COM port 7 
and up until a few days ago this all worked great Something has changed 
but I don't know how to fix it. Bug in DX4WIN maybe? Any help/advice

here we go again... used dx4win latest version, mmtty, and microHam 
router all last week on rtty no problem win10 did an update Friday 
afternoon closed dx4win and opened writelog, mmtty, and router for 
the cqww wpx rtty test this week end... all went well. Got up this 
morning opened writelog and sent in my log... shut down and opened 
dx4win after selecting my preset in router as usual NOW... I can no 
longer send canned messages from mmtty keys up and sends steady 
carrier I see no changes in preferences or in mmtty or router. I can 
close dx4win and open writelog and all is normal. Just problem with 
dx4win and mmtty. I can hit F10 on keyboard hooked to router and send 
rtty that way but nothing from the dx4win program. What changed and

Afternoon All! here is a wish list for DX4WIN that I would like to see 
implemented in a new version if possible! I am using version 9.0.9.1259 
and have close to 150K contacts stored in it. I absolutely love this 
program and support it and Paul for sure. Here are 3 improvements that 
would be easy and simply changes that could be made user selectable.


1: I would like the program Log Entry window to open with a new entry 
instead of last entry. I have to remember to hit F9 to clear this last 
entry every time I start the program (every morning) and me getting old 
and forget it and causes problems. This could be a user selectable in 
Preferences.


2: I would prefer that under Help Menu that the Update window open with 
everything UN-selected instead of ALL selected. I normally only update 
the Country Files so have to manually un-check everything. This could be 
user selectable too.


3: I would like for the Log Entry window to open in the smallest window 
possible. F5 selects between multiple sizes and it opens in the mid-size 
and I have to re-size it every day. I would like it to stay in the size 
I select as it covers up my CW window.


These are not big issues for sure and are just flea bites in my side and 
I am sure that others have bigger or more important changes they would 
like to see, but these three are the ones that bug me the most! I hope 
everyone staying safe and healthy... me very bored with stay at home but

thanks Mike and Tim, did the write config file, saved and exited, now 
the number 3 issue is sorta right but it still comes out a tad bit large 
showing part of the IOTA window section I still have to hit F5 to 
get it to fit, but you are correct in that it tries to show the last 
window selected. Perhaps this is a Win 10 issue. wish #1 and #2 
still behave the same! Anyway small issues and I have a whole lot more 
to worry about!  like where did I leave the box with all the masks in?

Hello Courtney,

Set all the windows the way you want them. Then do:
File > Preferences > File > Write configuration file.
Save Changes and Exit.
The windows, including the QSO entry window, will come up that same 
way now.

when I opened DX4WIN this morning the Bandmap window didn't open or so I 
thought turned out to be hiding behind the DX SPOTS window so I 
resized it and now have the bandmap sitting beside the DX Spots 
window.It has to be hiding somewhere... and there has to be someway to

computer on first... loads up and running, then I turn on the radio and 
out board items, then open either DX4WIN or Writelog  shut down the 
opposite nite time. When I get a time out event, if I close DX4WIN and 
re-open all works for a while but eventually it times out. Wierd part is 
Writelog, microHam router, radio/amp and computer no problem. Thinking 
about doing a re-install of DX4WIN 9.0.9 but I always get extremely 
nervous when messing around with software usually a cussing fit 
going to happen somewhere  then the wifie tells me I should have 
known better!  hopefully this thing will self correct but who am I

hi Wayne I have all the latest firmware/router microHam stuff ok but I 
noticed in the router software that the com port 5 (radio freq/mode) 
shows (open 4800 8n1) same in both dx4win and microHam  but I see 
nowhere in dx4win or microham, or radio (FTdx5000) to set it to 8n2 
I have to hit F9 when first opening the log ( I think that should be 
user selectable) and it goes directly to the rig freq/mode as it should. 
In dx4win.. preferences.. radio   max tries was set to 2 but I 
bumped that up to 10... hope that was the right way to move! so far so 
good but Zoran WA7AA also suggested running  a brouser video might be 
also affecting it. I am running WIN 10 , 2 monitors with Email program 
and Chrome also running along side DX4WIN. All this workee fine until 2

Hi Cort,

Which radio are you using? You may want to check the virtual port 
drivers from the microham to make sure windows has not done one of 
it's updates on them. If it's a Yaesu radio check the stop bits 
(should be 2) and RTS setting in the radio as well as the software.


With 6 tries DX4W may not be connecting right from the git go. Once 
DX4W is up if you push F9 in DX4W does the computer read the frequency 
from the radio right away?


I no longer use a microham but have in the past. I am using the FT991a 
and FTdx5000 with DX4Win with no issues. I know microsoft has updated 
some prolific drivers and I have had trouble with them and had to 
revert to the original driver.

hey Mike, mine was set at 6 to I bumped it up to 10... DTR HIGH not 
checked, RTS HIGH checked. The microHam router sets the ports for the 
software to talk with the computer and radio both with DX4WIN and 
Writelog ports are set for radio freq and mode and also for CW 
sending and RTTY thru MMTTY... this all worked perfectly up until a 
couple of days ago usually I blame WIN 10 updates for any strange 
happenings but haven't had one of those for a couple of weeks! Thanks

You might try increasing the number of tries before dx4win times out:
File> Preferences > Radio: Max Tries=? I just looked and mine is set at 2,
which is probably the default. That seems pretty low. Also, is the
computer talking to dx4win through the Microham router? Could that be part
of the problem? I never had any Microham stuff so don't know how they 
work,

but think one of their guys reads this list and may be able to comment.

made it a whole day and no loss of CAT control problem that I have had 
for several days. this morning after a cup of coffee I remembered 
several days ago I installed a small time correction program since WIN 
10 seemed to be having difficulties keeping me correct. so I 
un-installed it and so far so good maybe this was the source of my 
DX4WIN loosing freq/mode via microHam Keyer 2  I guess time will

[Dx4win] problem

New problem has shown up with DX4WIN 9.0.9.1259 that has me scratching 
my head. After opening the program everything is normal for a while but 
then I get a message that radio has timed out and interface is 
dis-abled. Which means the logging program no longer switches bands and 
modes when it is supposed to follow the radio. Seems to be specific to 
DX4WIN as the microHam keyer 2 shows it still follows the radio as well 
as the KPA1500 amp follows the radio. I opened Writelog and it acts 
normal so I am thinking something is wrong in the DX4WIN program. What 
do you all suggest that I should pursue to fix this? Thanks and 73's

HI Dave,

Paul has to set up something on the server for each new release. He
has not done that yet. You can always click the appropriate Download
link near the top of the page and install the file by hand:

The downside is that if you "Check for Updates" after doing this,
DX4WIN will say that there is an update available, but it will restore
the older (March 3) version of the file.

Like you (meaning everyone), I also update through the program. I am
waiting for it myself!

[Dx4win] how to delete cluster

to do this but don't remember how i did and can't find any way from the

[Dx4win] open log file

How do I get DX4WIN to open the latest log file when I start it up. I do 
save before shutting down but when open again it opens with an earlier 
log and I have to go find the latest file and open it getting

I also have a few requests for any new update:

a: on the check for updates drop down menu I would much prefer for the 
updates ALL be unchecked... That way rather than having to uncheck 9 
items, only have to check one... only one that interests me is the 
COUNTRY update.


b: Rather than having to remember to hit F9 when opening the 
program/log, I would much prefer tor the default to just go to the log.


c:The default for the log entry window should be the smallest have 
to do the F5 thing every time to get it to fit my desired size


d: An easier method to upload to LOTW. I usually upload at the end of 
every month and it's a struggle to remember all the key strokes it takes 
to do this. At 78 hard to remember anything anymore!


e: How about some sort of interface with WSJT-X MMTTY and Gritty all 
run great in the back ground


Just my 2 cents on what I would like to see. I have been with DX4WIN 
since the beginning and currently show 150K+ qso's in my log. Thanks

Hey all, just got FT8 up and running here in the shack now and wondering 
on how best to get the logs from WSJT to DX4WIN ver 9.09. I googled it 
and found an interesting article by Dave N4QS but not sure if I am 
capable of setting this up. I struggle with Win 10 and my ham software 
 just keeping it running smoothly is a on-going battle. So any 
help/ideas on how to set this up would be appreciated. I tried to have 
DX4WIN open at the same time with WSJT but ended up with rig control

well, I pretty much agree with all of you that DX4WIN is a great program 
and I have been a user since it first came out and have over 160K qso's 
in the log. I have it running over two 24 inch monitors with MMTTY, 
winKeyer, cluster running and it works great what ever band or spot 
I see i can jump there to what ever band/mode I want. Now comes FT8 and 
WSJT. To run it I have to save DX4WIN, close it, max microKeyer3 router 
and change settings for FT8, then open WSJT. Now I am blind to all the 
other activity going on the bands. I want to be able to run DX4WIN and 
WSJT  together with out any rig control arguments. All the other logging 
programs that I have been looking at on line have this ability so I 
think that this should be made available so that DX4WIN is on par with 
other programs. Yes, I don't want to change and have to go thru all the 
work of getting a new program to play nice with all my stuff, but looks 
like I don't have any other option. Hope this clarifies what I want to

I believe most DX4Win users who also operate FT8 would like full

integration. Most likely that would require adding UDP communication and

Paul says that is not likely to happen, at least not anytime soon.

  


Fortunately, it is not difficult to add FT8 QSOs to DX4Win. I create a

shortcut to the WSJT-X (or JTDX) .adi file. I import that file and it

imports very quickly. Not ideal, but very easy.

  


If you need a logging program with real time uploads to Club Log, LOTW, full


integration with other software and other fun things, DX Labs software may

be your choice. But the learning curve is steep and the number of settings

and options is significant. DX4Win is very straight forward and so easy to

use. I want to focus on making QSOs, not spending tons of time on the

logging program.

I am just sorta on the fence here now since I finally have made the jump to

FT8 and just wondering if DX4WIN is going to be upgraded to handle WSJT-X

like it does with MMTTY. I have been using DX4WIN for many years and now

have 160K+ q's in the log. There are several minor changes I would like to

see but integration of WSJT-X is one that I would like to see. So while I

have been looking at all the windows logging programs now available I don't

really want to move away from DX4WIN if something is in the pipeline. If

nothing coming then I guess I'll be looking at other options. Thanks for

hmmm Kostas, I haven't thought about that MK3 has many virtual ports

ok I want to make sure I have this straight! In the microHam router 
software I have for DX4WIN CAT COM 8 and PTT  COM5; so now I could do 
for WSJT  2nd CAT COM 9 and 2nd PTT COM 10 and this will allow both 
programs to run at the same time. Under this setup will WSJT populate 
the log window in DX4WIN or do I still have to manually move info?

[Dx4win] DX4WIN + FTdx101mp

Anyone have any luck getting these two to play nice together? DX4WIN ver 
9.0.9.1259 on a WIN 10 computer. The 101MP uses USB for computer connect 
and I can't get the CW window or MMTTY to work from within the program. 
It will follow the radio frequency/mode wise but that's it. I used a 
microham MK3 with my FTdx5000 and that worked great but can't get that 
to work either. Any ideas/tips? Thanks 73's Cort K4WI

I have been playing around with my new FTdx101MP and have it working 
with everything except DX4WIN. For some reason it can not find COM port 
7 which is the enhanced port Yaesu gives with their downloads. I get a 
message ie_Bdid specified com port can not be found. It's there working 
with Writelog and WSJT-X!~ Any suggestions of how to sort this out?

Just got my new 101MP setup and running and wondering if anyone has 
successfully got them work with DX4WIN?  I have got it to work with 
WSTJ-X  but there is no 101 in the radio drop down list and using the 
setting the same as wsjt one would think it would work but no go. Any

I have a question for the reflector audience. Contesting has opened the
doors for a major headache for me in the amount of qsl 's that I receive. I
am making about 15K qso's / year in contests and I am getting about 50%
sending me a card for each of those contacts. This is not an insignificant
amount of resources for me. I don't mind sending a card out for someone who
needs Alabama or Marengo Co, but how many times do you need a card from me
for 10 mtr SSB contest qso's. I am not going to mention the station/country
that has the record for getting the most of  my cards on a single band/mode.
I stumbled on to this one by accident: 11 cards. My question: is there any
way to get DX4WIN to show me the amount of cards/per station/per band/ per
mode. I will no longer send a card for third ( two already sent according to
log) or more qso's/band/mode regardless of cards sent to me unless direct
with SASE. I would like to create a list (blacklist if you please) of these
stations to shorten my response time to the ones who really need it. I guess
you could call it a qsl filter.. I really would like an answer! Thanks 73's

Has anyone used the BV program with Dx4WIN to print out qsl labels? I would
be most interested in your results and methods. I am getting ready to print
out about 5K labels and while the DX4WIN program works fine; I would like to
get a little more creative. I downloaded the BV program and could not figure
out how to tell it to look for checked qso's in DX4WIN  to print out. Thanks

I am having the strangest problem all of a sudden. Any mail that I send out
goes to the correct owner all except for one's that go through a reflector
or directly back to myself, in which case they never show up in my inbox.
This has had me scratching my head for several days now and basically run

Hi all,and HNY! I am looking for some advice on keyboards. I am thinking 
about purchasing a wireless keyboard with built in trackball. I have found 
several on the internet...most made by Adesso...some with trackball; others 
with touchpad. I currently use a trackball;  prefer it over a standard 
mouse. How does a touchpad work? Am I going to like going to a built in 
all-in-one for contesting and general logging with Writelog and/or DX4WIN?

[Dx4win] keyboard update

Well I promised that I would inform all when I settled my keyboard options! 
ended up purchasing an Adesso WKB-3200UB wireless 2.4 Ghz with built in 
optical trackball, scroll wheel and hot keys. Turned out to be just what the 
doctor ordered everything in one place... no more reaching for the 
trackball. It works great with Writelog... still finding out new things... 
the scroll wheel will move the frequency of the rig when in the logging 
window... way cool! Haven't played with it in DX4WIN yet but expect good 
things also. Best $70 that I have spent in a while. 73's Cort K4WI

invalid call sign. How do I get rid of these contacts? Any easy way to get
