Re: [Ekiga-list] cannot register my sip address

2011-06-09 Thread Gian Paolo Renello
Hi Eugen Dedu,

tx for your answer. I repost a new debug output since it is
still not possible to register. I suspect there is a problem in my
sistem (Debian Sid), because I also tried with Qutecom and Linphone to
see if worked and i have also problems.

Regards

[Ekiga-list] cannot register my sip address

2011-06-05 Thread Gian Paolo Renello
Hi,

I installed ekiga 3.2.7 and registered with ekiga.net a sip
address. But when i start the program i get the message that can't
register my sip address. Sometime i get
also the message that ekiga was unable to configure the network and
that I should configure it manually, but this also is already done
(I followed the instructions at
http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Enable_port_forwarding_manually)

I added a gzip output of ekiga hoping it will helps to solve the
problem.

Regards

GPR

Re: [Ekiga-list] ekiga and multi video conference

2009-08-05 Thread Paolo Alberti
Well, i am so sorry for these blank messages but i had some problem with mail...

Back to the problem, here is my original message:

Hi all.
I am trying to use ekiga to make multi video conference: 3/4 users that
can see each others, talk in a common chat, etc.
I am on GNU/Linux Debian squeeze.

That's what i did:
1) downloaded ptlib, h323plus, plugin-video and openmcu from
http://www.h323plus.org/source/
2) compiled them and installed without any problem
3) installed successfully ekiga from git according to
http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Download_Ekiga_sources (here is my
config instructions for ptlib: ./configure --enable-sunaudio=no
--enable-oss=yes --prefix=/usr --disable-sdl --enable-v4l --disable-avc
--disable-dc).

Now ekiga runs fine.
I run openmcu server with this openmcu.ini:

[Parameters]

Username=openmcu

Password=

Log Level=4

HTTP Certificate=serverbis.pem

HTTP Port=1420

no-gatekeeper=True

Interface Array Size=0

Enable video=True

Video frame rate=10

Video quality=10

Default room=main

Call log filename=/var/log/openmcu/openmcu.log

Force split screen video=True

Room time limit=0

Connecting WAV File=/home/glider/connecting.wav

Entering WAV File=/home/glider/entering.wav

Leaving WAV File=/home/glider/leaving.wav

Gatekeeper Mode=No gatekeeper

Gatekeeper Username=MCU

Gatekeeper Password=fxwEykJIWYA=

Gatekeeper Room Names=MCU*

Gatekeeper Prefixes Array Size=0

and when from a client in ekiga i call: h323:m...@openmcuserverip it
says that connection was extablished; so i make the same with an other
client: same response and an other one.
More, when i surf openmcu web admin page i can see the three clients
connected.
But in ekiga no split-video-window. Each client doesn't see in ekiga the
webcam videos from the other two.
All this in lan.

Surely i am missing something... but what?

there are many msgs which suggest such kind of solution to EK troubles.
I'd suggest EK checks on its own, on start-up, whether it finds in current
library path all libs at min version it expects, and issue a proper warning
if such basic conditions are not all met.

thx

remember that skype is a p2p app while ekiga acts as client for a server.
In skype you've no control on number of connections it makes to other
nodes, nor how much bandwith it takes up; and skype's streams are encrypted,
which means longer drops may occur in case of channel congestion.
Moreover, if all goes 'well', your instance may act as a 'supernode' hence
taking most of your bw. In some situations, all the rest been equal, such
cases may lead to poor performance on the channel you're talking.

There are likely other possible explanations for what you see, these are
just a few points.

sn9c102 is 'the' driver for that chip, however spca5xx may be more
updated and support more feat.s.

I think there are polite way of doing it, but I'm used to be rough here:

# mv sn9c102.ko sn9c102.ko~
