[Elecraft] OT: LDG DTS-6 Antenna Switch Remote needed
Been looking for the remote head for one of these. LDG discontinued it several years ago. I have the antenna switch, but it would be nice to have the remote for it. Or, failing that, is there anyone out there that has successfully created their own remote for this box using an Arduino or some such? Would appreciate any info available. [Elecraft] Lo P error on K2
I searched the archives for this but did not find anything similar to the situation with my K2. My radio is 10 years old now and works fine except that occasionally, on any band I select (after being tuned up on another band), when I press Tune to start the KAT2 autotuner I see the Lo P error. To get past it, I just power the rig off, then on again, and I can then tune the radio with no problem. Is there anything I can do to the radio to remedy this? Re: [Elecraft] Lo P error on K2
Bob, It is difficult to tell you where to look. That message indicates that there is less than 2 watts being produced. If you have the power control set to less than 2 watts, that message can be expected, just turn the power knob up for a 'cure'. OTOH, it could be the result of damaged wattmeter diodes in the KAT2. Give the wattmeter a check - Set the ATU menu to CALP and connect an external wattmeter between the KAT2 and a dummy load. Set the power to 5 watts and do a TUNE - what does the external wattmeter read as compared with the K2 display. If the external wattmeter reads 12 watts or greater while the K2 indicates less than 5 watts, then something in the KAT2 wattmeter has been damaged - the diodes are the most likely suspects. 73, Don W3FPR On 10/28/2013 3:41 PM, Bob wrote: I searched the archives for this but did not find anything similar to the situation with my K2. Re: [Elecraft] [KX3] Key KX3 from DXLabs using Elecraft USB cable
John, You cannot configure Winwarbler to use the same Com port as Commander, but you can configure WinWarbler to send requests to Commander to use radio control commands for CW keying with a K3 or KX3. In the WinWarbler Configuration window under the CW tab, set the Keying method to Xcvr Ctrl App (lower left corner). If you want to use a K1EL Winkeyer or direct serial port keying (DTR or RTS), you have to use a separate Com port. 73, Rich VE3KI W9LHG wrote: I'm trying to send CW from DXLabs to the KX3 with WinWarbler. Re: [Elecraft] P3 - use as a transmit monitor
Cool Graham! Actually there's an easier way to do it. In the Xcvr Sel menu item, select the last item in the list 0 Hz. The P3 frequency now reads the actual RF frequency and you can tune it by HOLDing the CENTER control on the front panel and then turning the knob. (You may have to change the Center En menu entry to ON.) The tuning rate in CENTER mode is proportional to span. Set the span to maximium to tune quickly and then narrow the span to zero in on the signal. CAUTION: Be careful when the P3 is connected to anything other than the K3 IF out because the P3 IF input is not protected against static discharge. I would recommend putting a pair of back-to-back diodes in parallel across the input. If you don't want to modify the P3 you can solder the diodes to a BNC male connector and connect it and the antenna to the P3 using a BNC T adapter. Re: [Elecraft] Lo P error on K2
Don, I did as you suggested this evening with the following interesting results testing each band: Band Cal PExternal Meter 105.0 4.8 125.0 5.0 154.6 0.0 !! 175.0 5.0 204.7 5.0 305.1 5.1 405.1 5.1 805.5 5.5 160 5.2 1.8 Something strange is happening with 15 meters, and the funny thing is I don't operate on that band because (right now) my only HF antenna is an OCF dipole that does not resonate on 15 nor will it tune up on that band (though I have tried - hopefully I did not damage the radio this way). Re: [Elecraft] K1 Internally Generated Signal
Jim, If you have no other signal source, the K1 raspy signal at 99.7 below the band edge will get the frequency calibration in the ballpark. It may be off by 0.1 kHz or so. If you cannot find it, you may have a receive sensitivity problem with your K1 and that is quite another problem. 73, Don W3FPR On 10/28/2013 9:39 PM, letsrun...@aol.com wrote: Referring to operating frequency calibration: Page 41 of the manual reads, In the case of the internally generated signal, tap W P M + or W P M - until the display reads 99.7. I created a macro that selects each antenna and clears the ATU memories on a band and move up one band. However, if I try to run this as a single macro 11 times for each of the bands, it doesn't complete (I'm guessing because the macro is being fed faster than the radio can react OR I'm exceeding the maximum macro length).
