[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report
Good Evening,
Neither band was very strong but both had QSB. Low noise and weak
signals did not work well. However, I gathered a few QNI and found next
week will have a wedding and family visits. So next Sunday's turnout
will be affected :) That's OK there are more weeks in the year. I did
not hear any lightning.
The sun almost came out, there are patches of blue sky all around.
Ash from the volcano on Kamchatka is sweeping south through Washington.
That should cause a redder sunset when the sun drops below the cloud layer.

Jim, If you have been using SSB for FT8 what are you using for a sound card? I don't think you can use the internal sound card for data modes when in SSB. Jim, Not a good idea, because any TX EQ, Compression, etc. will effect your FT8 transmit audio. A potential explanation: the LINE IN level may have defaulted to zero. The LINE IN level is adjusted using the MIC gain control, but only when MIC SEL is set to LINE. So, you need to set MIC SEL to LINE (which turns MIC+LIN off), adjust the MIC gain control to give the desired non-zero LINE IN level reading, then if you really want to use MIC+LIN on, set MIC SEL back to your chosen mic setting and set MIC+LIN to ON. For FT8, it would make more sense to set MIC+LIN to OFF and MIC SEL to LINE. I have an 100% updated K3. Suddenly I lost capability to transmit FT8 mode. CW and SSB works OK, I do not know about RTTY. My K3 is connected to a MicroHam Microkeyer II. Jim, I have MIC+LIN set to off, I think so that the K3s doesn't pick up room noise when using data modes. Also, the mic level control on the front panel affects the line in level when you are in data a mode. In other modes, it is a mic level, instead. [Elecraft] Elecraft 80M SSB Net Announcement
Please join us on 3784 kHz (NOTE THE NEW FREQUENCY), 9PM ET Sunday (0100Z Monday). Note that the net stays on the same local time, when we switch back and forth to/from Daylight time, so the UTC time changes, but not the local time. Now that we have moved into Daylight time and have longer daylight hours, 80M may not be as strong as during the winter. Your net control this week will be Dave, N8SBE, although I've had intermittent antenna issues at high power the last few weeks. This seems to be an 80M only issue, for some reason. If I continue to have issues this evening, please listen for Eric, WB9JNZ, who has done a stellar job over the past few weeks of taking over as NCS after my hi-power station went down. This week we had more warmer weather, with a sunny days with high temps in the 70's and 80's, although a cold front is due this evening, and lows in the 30's and highs in the 40's and 50's are expected over the next few days. [Elecraft] K3S Line in not working.
I Just received my K3S back from being serviced, but it doesn’t appear that the Line In is functioning. On FT8 I have the MIC+LIN set to ON, and MIC SEL to FPL.BIAS — same settings as I have been using on my back-up K3. I am using the same cabling between PC and both rigs, so there is no issue with any of them. I’ve checked and double checked the Menu and Config settings between the two radios and they are identical. Anyone have any idea of what I might be missing before I contact Elecraft?
