[Elecraft] KX3 Fred Cady KE7X Book For Sale

2017-08-13 Thread David Gow
I no longer own a KX3 and have no further need for this very helpful book.
It is $45 on the Elecraft web site. Mine has been typically used for the
last two years. It is in very good condition and includes a printout of
the Errata on KE7X's web site. It in very good condition with no notations,
underlining or highlighting. There is a coffee stain on the outside of the
back cover lower left corner. Price is $20 plus shipping to include
packaging and shipping method of your choice. A USPS Priority medium box
will hold it very comfortably for $12.

[Elecraft] KX3 Sold, KXPA Still Avaiable

2017-08-01 Thread David Gow
The KX3 has sold and the KXPA100 is still available. Several people have
asked if it has the internal tuner and yes, it does along with the adapter
cable to transceive with the KX3, power cable, right angle coax cable and
manual. Purchased new in August 2015 and factory assembled. I have
reduced the price to $700 not including shipping. Shipping is in original
factory packing.

[Elecraft] KX3 and KPXA100 For Sale

2017-07-31 Thread David Gow
I purchased these units new and factory assembled in August of 2015. They
have been lightly used in my interior shack, basically for familiarization
purposes. I had planned to use them for portable and mobile use in an RV
but our plans have changed and we will not be acquiring an RV. in the
foreseeable future. The KX3 has all the internal accessorizes except the
two meter and 70 cm modules. It comes with the key paddles available at
the time and the MH3 hand mic. Both are in perfect operating condition,
look like new. They include all cables including the adapter cable from
the KX3 to the KXPA100. so that the pair acts as a transceiver. They are
running the most recent firmware.I am asking $1000 for the KX3 and $760 for
the KXPA. If you buy the pair it will be $1,700. Shipping in the
continental US is your responsibility and they will be shipped in the
original factory packing.

Please reply off the list.

Re: [Elecraft] List overload - It's actually not good for Elecraft's business.

2017-05-28 Thread David Gow
As a relatively new owner of an Elecraft KX3 and all related accessories
this list has been of immense help to me. It is far more interesting and
well behaved than some other ham lists I read. When I did sell an Elecraft
manufactured accessory it sold in one hour.at my stated fair price and I
felt good about not selling it on a n auction site.

Re: [Elecraft] KX3 heatsink question

2017-03-21 Thread David Gow
I have a later serial number with the improved heatsink and find it
completely satisfactory for PSK31 in typical QSO use. I usually run about
8 watts and do monitor the final amplifier temperature via the screen
display. It never gets anywhere near the shut-down level or "hot" to the
touch. I do live in Seattle so the ambient temperature in the shack seldom
exceeds 80F and is mostly around the 68F furnace setting and also the
typical spring summer fall 60-75 daytime temperature here in the land of
eternal rain 9 months of the year and drought with sunny mild temperatures
for the other three.

Re: [Elecraft] KX3 With KXPA 100

2017-03-21 Thread David Gow
Good advice. Because I only have one antenna I have antenna 2 disabled
after figuring out the procedure in the utility and programming guide and
if I ever sell the amplifier I will need to remember to tell the buyer and
set it back to original if they wish.

Re: [Elecraft] KX3/KXPA and Ameritron ALS-1306

2017-02-19 Thread David Gow
Thanks Joe. I used a common TRS audio cable, cut off one end and spliced
the proper wires and ground to the appropriate wires on the cut off end of
an old strait through DB9 cable and it all works perfectly connected to
the ALS-1306 Kenwood cable. The hardest part was using a DMM to identify
the wires/pins on the DB9 cable since they had atypical color coding.
