I no longer have an Elecraft radio so this Y-Box by N6TV is no longer of any use. I also have a couple of cables for it. It was set up for me to config. TX INH to HI=inh GND TX OK to allow RF output. I used it for EME operation. [Elecraft] K3+ For Sale
I have a K3+ (serial # 593) in excellent condition for sale with a number of the upgrades including the following: KXV3B-F KBPF3A KFL3B-FM-IR-F KTCX03-l-F KI03BUPKT-F About the only thing not upgraded was the synthesizer. This is the 100 watt version and it has the auto tuner. It's in excellent shape and was tweaked at the factory in 2017. Also includes manuals, original mic, and an LP-Pan2 if desired. [Elecraft] Using KAP1500 with non Elecraft exciters
I'm considering replacing my KPA500/KAT500 with the 1500. On the shack desk I use a K3 and Icom 7610. Of course the KPA/500/KAT500 combo plays very nicely with the K3, but I seem to be having some tuning issues occasionally with the 7610 particularly if I move to a different part of the band - like the 40m cw portion, where there is a great match, to the SSB section. Things go into default before the tuner reaches a good match. I'm either doing something wrong or there is an issue between the icom and elecraft combo. [Elecraft] KPA500 adds attenuation in Operate
For some unknown reason when I switch the KPA500 to Operate the receiver in the K3 acts like I've activated attenuation. I've obviously made some change in a menu somewhere but I can't sort it out. SWR continues to read fine and power output is also fine. Any suggestions on what might be wrong? There has been a tremendous amount of flap, angst and drama on the Flex users group about these results, so much so that Gerald got involved to try and get to the bottom of it. Apparently there were some software changes made with the last or previous SmartSDR upgrade that did some harm. They know what happened apparently, which is way beyond my capability to understand or explain, and are in the process of making the changes and improvements Gerald found and these changes will be implemented in the next SmartSDR version. I guess at that at some point Sherwood will re-run tests and post new findings which hopefully will look like the much earlier evaluations. Success! I downloaded the complete FTDI executable and re-installed the drivers. I removed another device that used the same driver on a different port. I rebooted and then plugged in USB cables from the K3 and the rotor controller, one at a time. The characteristic Windows install activity was apparent in the bottom task bar and all is well! Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I've examined the device manager for anything that looks suspicious marked with a question mark exclamation mark or other such indications that something is a miss but there is nothing there. That would make it easy to fix as some of you have suggested. The strange thing is that I plugged in my ERC USB rotor control which uses the same ftdi driver and it was immediately recognized no problem. I've looked at the windows ftdi device driver in Programs and Features and attempted to uninstall it and it doesn't allow me to do that and instead shows a long list of terminal prompts and commands for this and that which is above my pay grade so to speak. I'm going to talk with a couple of elmers on the phone today who might be able to walk me through a solution. I, also going to use a terminal routine to look for any sort of ghost ports which I've done in the past. I have the enhanced K3 with the USB hub add on so I'm using that way to connect to the computer - direct via USB. Still no dice and it worked fine when I was running Win 7 on same computer. [Elecraft] K3 not Seen By Computer after OS upgrade
I bit the bullet and upgrade from Win 7 to 10 this morning in an effort to address some issues I just couldn't live with any longer. All was fine until I plugged the USB cable from my K3 into the computer and nothing. No recognition what so ever. I went to the Elecraft site and downloaded and installed FTDI and Prolific drivers though I think it needed FTDI. Still nothing. I'm puzzeled though as I downloaded two different FTDI driver packages. One was an install package and the other is a folder with no obvious setup file for installation. The folder is labeled CDM v2.12.26 WHQL Certified. That's probably the one I needed to install but am at a loss in how to do that. Some advice would be appreciated. [Elecraft] KX3 Behavior with Brick Amplifier
I took an old Palomar solid state "broadband" amp and added a band pass filter to the output to clean things up. I then tried it with my KX3 and to my surprise the SWR was showing high at the KX3. The filter alone attached to a dummy load shows a near perfect 52 ohms so the problem isn't on that end of the chain. If I use an inexpensive littte 5 watt 40 m QRP CW rig to drive the amp everything seems perfect with nearly 100 watts out of the amp.Should I assume that my idea to recycle an old CB amp was just a bad idea and cut my losses by throwing it away? Or am I missing something? Has anyone tried the little inexpensive 45 watt amplifiers out of China being sold on ebay with their KX3. [Elecraft] Multiple radios with KAT500/KPA combo
I have a setup with 4 different radios on the bench and I'd like to use them all with my KAT500 and KPA500. One of the radios is a K3. The others of course all have PTT outputs. I suppose there is no way to do this short of making a switch box with all PTT lines from the 4 radios and a single output to the PTT in on the KPA500. [Elecraft] Failure to Load Drivers for K3 & KAT500
I recently got my K3 back from the shop. In the interim I had other radios to use. When I plugged the USB cables from both the KAT500 and K3 neither were recognized by the computer running Win 7 and drivers would not install after going through the usual process. The computer is acting like there were never any FTDI drivers and of course there were as I used the K3, KX3 and a USB8 relay board that uses the same driver. [Elecraft] K3 as Half a Satellite Station
I'm new to this group, a steadfast KX3 user and recently acquired a K3 and P3. I've been on the satellites for many years and recently started using 2 radios controled by SatPC32 software - one radio for uplink and another for downlink using converters. I decided to experiment with the K3 and P3 for the downlink side. It worked like a charm when 2 meters was the downlink (I should add that I'm using preamps for both bands placed at the antenna). Most of the satellites, but not all, use 70 cm for uplink and 2m for down. I then decided to try sending the output of both down converters, through relays switching, to the K3 transverter input. Only one band at a time would be selected by the relays and the other sent to the uplink radio. I tired using a Daiwa duplexer to accomplish this and I tried a simple splitter. For some reason this messed everything up and it seemed like the preamps were totally ineffectual, especially the 70cm preamp. I've been scratching my head to understand why this isn't working. This could be a wonderful satellite station using the K3 and P3 with or without the external monitor card for downlink.
