[Elecraft] KIO3B Installation Problem

I read the post that Rick N6XI wrote about the problem getting the KI03B to 
sync. With ports.  I have the exact same problem with my K3 after I replaced a 
defective KI03B main board.  During the time that it took for my replacement 
board to arrive, my computer in the shack failed.  I purchased a new desk top 
computer and after installing the new board in my K3 I found that it would not 
sync.  I checked the devise manager for the port list and found no list.  I 
have tried everything to get them to show up in the list with no luck.  I have 
tried everything listed in all the posts and still no luck.   The K3 utility 
shows a blank port list and the KPA500 show a blank port list, but does have a 
refresh port button but no com ports listed. I have two of the same computers 
and both show no com port list in the Devise Manager.  Both of the computers 
have Windows 10 Home and will not work on the K3.  The old computer that was in 
the shack was a old Asus laptop with windows 8 but had 
 been updated to Windows 10 and worked great.  I suspect that it may be a 
problem with Windows 10 Home,  that something is missing.  The computer works 
fine.  If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate the help.

[Elecraft] KI03 error

On powering up my K3 I receive a KI03 error.  I updated the KI03 when it was 
first available.  What I need to know is, what is the best way to troubleshoot 
the problem to identify which board is affected. I know that I can buy a new 
set of boards but I am trying not to go that way. I would like to know if 
Elecraft will repair boards if shipped to them out of the K3. Thanks in advance

[Elecraft] Audio On K3 (solved)

I feel like a idiot, Ted was right upper side band  had flipped to lower side 
band. I guess that you always miss the obvious and make things too difficult 
when not needed. I need to find why it happened as 15 meter also had flipped. 
Thanks to all who gave suggestions, I placed those on my "When it don't work" 
list.

[Elecraft] Audio on K3

I powered up my K3 and discovered that the audio was very distorted.  It sounds 
as if everyone is off frequency and no amount of tuning will clear it up. I was 
using 20 meter SB and it is the same on all other frequencies except 2 meter.  
I checked all settings that I use and nothing has changed. I had no problem the 
night before and problem was found on powering up the radio today. I also use 
KPA-500 and KTA-500 with this setup.  I also checked and it is the same on both 
receivers. This unit was sent to Elecraft to be checked over and aligned about 
3 months ago and has been working great. This radio has had all updates 
installed.  Anybody have information on where to start looking for problem 
would greatly appreciated.

[Elecraft] AGC INFORMATION

I have been following the thread with regards to the setting of the AGC of the 
K-3 with great interest.  I am new to the use of the K-3 even though I have 
owned the radio for some time.  I had  a medical issue that delayed my use of 
the unit.My K-3 has been updated with all of the current K-3s upgrades and 
I use a KPA500.  The thread has given several settings for AGC SLP and AGC THR 
but I noticed that the setting for the other AGC settings are not mentioned.  
Should  I assume that the other default settings are to be used?   I tried the 
suggested settings and found that they did help with the reception of weak 
signals.  I work a lot of DX SSB and working the pileups can be a problem.  I 
also would like to thank KE7X for the great book on the K-3, it has been a 
great help and has answered a lot of questions.
Any help would be appreciated.

[Elecraft] VOX SETTING FOR UPGRADED K-3

I have upgraded my K-3 with all available new K3s updates and I just received 
it back from Elecraft (check up and align).  There is a great improvement in 
performance but I now notice that when I set up my Heil Proset (ic) headset for 
Vox use, I must run the anti-vox a lot higher than I used too (30-35).  I also 
have noticed that the Vox gain must be at the lowest level.  I use the settings 
for my tx and rx eqs set to the recommended setting in KE7X, Fred Caddy book 
and they have worked great in the past.  I need to know if anyone has found the 
same thing and if there are other recommended setting.  What am I missing here?

[Elecraft] Information Needed

I will be constructing a rack for my, K-3, KPA-500, KAT-500, P-3.  My concern 
is how much air space is needed for the equipment.  I need to rack the 
equipment to increase space on my bench. The KPA-500 will be on bottom, mainly 
because of the weight.  The speaker in the K-3 is not a problem because I use 
ext. speaker and headphones.   I was told that I could just stack equipment on 
the amp. but I think that would be too great a weight on top.  I checked the 
past posts but could find nothing to address this.  All help would be of great 
help.
