Re: [Elecraft] [K2] N1MM Logger sending CW to K2

2019-12-15 Thread K8TE
There is no need for an expensive interface just to do CW Mike. The
following link explains the process along with a warning about not doing so
if it doesn't make sense to you:

https://elecraft.mailman.qth.narkive.com/OwSJDzZd/how-do-you-get-n1mm-to-send-cw-to-the-k2

I will use the link's method to key my K2, once I finish (and start)
building it.

Or, you could use another USB to RS-232 converter, transistor, and resistor,
and plug for the K2 Key jack. I prefer fewer, not more, cables.

Re: [Elecraft] [K2] N1MM Logger sending CW to K2

2019-12-14 Thread Robert G Strickland via Elecraft

Mike...

I have this connection working. However, I use a microHAM CW interface
between the radio and computer with its router software [sets up virtual
ports and WinKey functionality] . This setup works cleanly and reliably.
I'm no expert in this area, but my reading here on the list prompts me
to say that a direct computer-to-radio setup for the K2 may not be
possible. I'm sure others with expertise will help you out.

say this needs to be done).

N1MM Logger now follows the radio band and correctly logs the contact.
However, I cannot send CW from N1MM Logger to the K2. I get the following
error message at the bottom of the Entry window: "Unable to send this CW
because there is no CW port set in Config: "

The user manual for N1MM Logger makes this comment: "N1MM Logger does not
support the K2 “virtual keying” feature using commands sent to the K2 serial
port."

So I am confused as to whether or not it is even possible to set this up.
Has anyone been able to do this? Any help is appreciated, and thanks!
