Hi Martin,

K3 0  --->   band decoder BCD1
K3 1  --->   band decoder BCD2
K3 2  --->   band decoder BCD3
K3 3  --->   band decoder BCD4

should work to your needs

I am using the first version of the band decoder from remoteqth.com

You can drop me an email to dl2...@darc.de

Re: [Elecraft] band data from the RS232 port while using the USB cable?

2017-09-12 Thread Don Wilhelm

Steve,

I am not familiar with the Acom amp and its needs, but if it needs 4
discrete band data lines, those are available on the ACC connector. See
the K3S manual for the pins.

The only lines on the RS-232 line (or USB) are RXD, TXD and Signal
Ground, and band data is present on the communications line when data is
flowing because of communications with something like a logging program.

2017-09-12 Thread Larry Gauthier (K8UT)
Steve,

Not exactly. When using the USB port for CAT control of the radio, the RS232
(RJ45) port becomes a listen-only CAT echo of the responses sent by the K3S to
the USB port. I am unfamiliar with the Acom amplifier's requirement for band
info, but your amp will track K3S band data under the following conditions:

- A conventional logging program is polling the radio on the USB port for band
and frequency (which would result in K3S CAT responses emerging from the RS232
port)

- The Acom is satisfied just hearing that CAT info (IOW - it does not generate
it own queries and require responses. The SteppIR controller operates similarly
)

suspect that the 1.3K works like the 1K.

Re: [Elecraft] Band data

2006-03-14 Thread Jack Brindle
I can answer that. By far the best way to get band data is to decode
the frequency returned by an IF; serial command. Having the frequency
allows you quite a bit of freedom in what you do with it, especially
since you can create sub bands or segments within each band. This
could be useful in determining if you are at the low or high end of a
band or even outside a band.

It is also FAR, FAR easier to decode than the AuxBus information...

Now, having said all this, probably the easiest way to deal with it
it to use a KRC2, which decodes either AuxBus or serial band data for
you. You just tap into the various drivers (or the BCD output
terminals) and use the information directly.
