Hi Toby,

It is this weekend, as correctly indicated on some contest calendars.
I will be officially announcing it later today after we update the web
links.

[Elecraft] Elecraft QSO Party

2011-03-09 Thread Toby Le Rone
I had recently looked at the 2010 information for the Elecraft QSO Party.
The day it was held was the second Saturday in March. According to that,
the 2011 one should be on this Saturday. I haven't found any mention of it
on the Elecraft site nor the N2CQ QRP contest calendar.

Does anyone know if it is going on this year?

The March 2010 QRP Calendar shows the EQP this weekend:

Elecraft QSO Party (All) ... QRP Category Mar 13, 1800z to Mar 14, 1800z
Rules: http://www.elecraft.com/

but I don't find anything about it on the Elecraft web site ... just the
2009 Rules and Results. Is it happening? Who is actually managing it?

Recommended frequency of 14.275??

Might want to change that as that frequency is a mess. Might save some poor
guy a tongue lashing by the "owners" of that frequency.

Good luck to all. I think I will get on in a bit and hand out some
contacts.

You mean he's actually going to work non-Elecraft HAMs?!? I this
was called the Elecraft QSO party!?! The first 6 to 8 hours should be
restricted to valid Elecraft serial numbers only, then the YLs and mobile
can have a shot at him! ;-) If there's time, the rest of the masses

How nice Stephen!!

The way I envision it, you put up a shortened dipole at 8 to 10 feet. Two days
before you even power up the radio, apprehensive hams from all over the world
will be pounding your position with their KW's. And the spoilers will be there
with their carriers (they figure nobody has a NOTCH?) !!!

After that, any time of the night or day, you turn on the radio to find every
frequency a pile up, all calling for you, 20 to 30 over S-9.

You work stations "any ZERO call area, mobile, qrp, and YL ONLY" and then try
anything else that may slow them down a little, but to no avail.

You notice that same big gun W9 that's been calling for 2 hours is now calling
"MOBILE QRP" "MOBILE QRP" in a high falsetto.

After 36 hours of nonstop operation and no sleep, the pileup still has not let
up one bit, so you announce - so sorry, I must sleep now, I'll take ONE MORE
CALL, who wants to be the last to work me?

At that point the radio bursts into flames and the operator spontaneously
combusts too.

Another needless ham radio related accident - be careful out there!

After a lot of paperwork and 4 days on the test bench at the National

I will be concentrating mainly on 20M phone and CW for the QSO party. The

Yes 7052 is not a good spot in EU for CW. Good idea instead
going below 7040, 7025-7033 segment would be just fine.

Good for the QSO party rules/guidelines already available. Form the
frequencies given - you guys will have to listen to HORRIBLE cw if I am
going to work any of you. I think my lifetime cw contact list is still less
than 5, 10 for sure. It stinks.

CW only, really? I know, something like "real hams don't use mics".

Maybe I'll try, ...maybe.

Hi Wayne,

Look forward to that! One suggestion, the 40m frequency 7040 kHz is used by
Eu RTTY stations (S9 ++ here at times) which makes copy of US CW signals on
7040 +- quite difficult if not impossible here. Ty W1TF suggested 7052 kHz,

Multiple Contacts with Same Station:
Each station can be worked on each mode and each
band for QSO credit. The three modes are CW, SSB, and digital.

Exchange:
Elecraft rig users: RST, name, rig, serial # (e.g. "559 WAYNE K2 NR 3000").
Others: RST, name, and power output (e.g. "599 BOB 15 W").

ALL QSOs COUNT for credit, even if neither party
is using an Elecraft rig for a given QSO.

Score:
Simply add up your QSO Points. (No multipliers, no categories.)

Submission Info:
Include:

1. Name

2. Callsign

3. State/Province/Country

4. n>Score

5. Rig type (see below).

Send to: e...@elecraft.com before April 24,
2005.Also include any Soapbox comments, but no
logs. (EQP is based entirely on the honor system.)

RIG TYPE (optional): Users of both Elecraft and
non-Elecraft gear are encouraged to indicate what
rig was used most often (based on # of QSOs made with each).

Results, Fame, Glory:
Scores will be posted on the Elecraft and other
reflectors by April 31. Scores will be sorted
from highest to lowest. State/Province/Country
and rig type will be included to allow further analysis of the results.

Additional Important Notes:

1. Cross-mode QSOs are OK; this is intended
to allow those with CW-only rigs (such as the K1
and KX1) to work additional stations in SSB
segments. But in all cases, your*transmit* mode is the "mode" for the contact.

2. Packet use is encouraged during the
contest. Feel free to spot stations heard calling "CQEQP".

3. Avoid nets and Fists frequencies. When
using QRP frequencies (e.g. 7040) use reduced
power whenever possible, or call and move off frequency.

4. Have longer QSOs(i.e., longer than an EQP exchange) if you wish.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Do I need to use an Elecraft rig, or contact only stations so equipped?
A: No. But Elecraft rig users should send their rig type and serial number.

Q: Is there any incentive to work stations who are using Elecraft rigs?
A: Yes. Contest contacts count toward Elecraft CC
and WAS awards; see elecraft_awards for details.

Q: How do I call CQ so people will know I'm participating?
A: CQ EQP.

Q: Can I work a station more than once per band?
A: Yes--up to 3 times (on CW, on SSB, and on a digital mode).

Q: I use my K2 as an I.F. on bands above 10 meters. Can I count such QSOs?
A: No. EQP is HF-only at present.

Q: What if I change power output during the contact?
A: That's OK; just score each QSO based on the
highest power level used during the QSO.

Q: Can I use more than one transceiver during the contest?
A: Absolutely! Experimentation with different
rigs, modes, and antennas is encouraged. Take the
rig outside and usea random wire. Invite a friend
or family member to try making a contact. Make a few Qs
from your couch using a KX1

Q: 24 hours? Seems awfully long for a QSO party.
A: We do this because of unavoidable overlaps
with other contests. More importantly, we want
everyone (in all parts of the world) to have a good chance at band openings.

Q: Is there software available?
A: See links at the top of the page.

EXCELLANT IDEA. Love it.

50 Bonus points each for contact with a select few, Wayne, Eric, few others?
Need list and calls. 2 for CW, 1 for SSB. Double if BOTH stations are
Elecraft. Double for QRP.

Exchange - Call,State,RST,Power(A>150,B,Q<10), 2 or 3 digit rig (IC, KW, YE,
K3, KX1, etc., Official list needed, OT=other). No points if neither is
Elecraft.

Somebody make up some rules and set a date.

[Elecraft] Elecraft QSO party

2009-01-23 Thread Ralph Tyrrell
A few years ago in March there was an Elecraft QSO party.
With my K1 I contacted many other Elecraft owners at that time. I also
contacted N6KR and WA6HHQ at that time. I believe that the result was a boost
to the K1's Mojo.
I now have a K3 which is jealous of the Mojo that the K1 has and #696 is
requesting a chance to QSO N6KR and WA6HHQ to obtain an improved Mojo status.

It would be nice to have an Elecraft QSO party again.

2007-02-20 Thread wayne burdick
Please join us for the annual Elecraft QSO party, 1500Z March 10
(Saturday) to 1500Z March 11 (Sunday). It's open to everyone -- no
Elecraft rig required. The goal of the contest is to have fun, work old

awards, and optionally collect some Elecraft rig serial numbers.

Complete rules can be found at

[Elecraft] Elecraft QSO Party Software

2006-02-25 Thread Bob Patten
As previously posted, the rules for the EQP have been re-written for
2006. Some of the changes, mainly the format
for sending Elecraft serial number, was done so that existing software
can properly score your log. Software known
to support the ARCI QSO Parties, and therefore the EQP include NA and
TRLog (DOS) and N1MM Logger (Windows).
I've written a template file for NA (the .CRT file) so that it will
correctly score the EQP. If you are going to use NA and
wish to have this file, drop me an e-mail and I will forward it to you.
If you are going to use either TRLog or N1MM,
set up your log for the ARCI QSO Party. Some final tweaking of your
summary may be necessary following the contest.
Other loggers will also work, but will require additional tweaking of
the summary.

I will likely be in Freeport, Grand Bahama on business next weekend when
the EQP takes place, but will try to participate
at least part time if possible. My Bahamas call is C6AKQ. If the trip
doesn't take place, I'll participate from home in both

the EQP and SOC Marathon Sprint.
