[Elecraft] KBT1 Internal Battery for K1
I recently picked up a four-band K1, which was nicely configured, and in excellent condition.. For my purposes, however, I don’t need / want the internal KBT1 battery option. Rather than consigning the extra bits to a small box on a shelf (replacement cover, speaker, aluminum assembly and battery holder), I thought I’d see if anybody has any interest here first. Looking for $50/shipped/insured. [Elecraft] KBT1
Howdy, Almost finished installing the KBT1 to my K1 but got stumped on the final positive and negative connections. Can see where each is to go but the instructions say to put the K1 on it's left side and solder to the RF board from the underside. Yet there were no instruction to accessing the underside of the RF board. What am I not geting? 72/73, John N0LT ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. RE: [Elecraft] KBT1?
Alan, I believe all these were addressed long ago. The maximum battery size is 0.56 inches (14.2mm). I don't know if all battery manufacturers conform to the standard AA size, but I have not had any problem with AA Rechargable batteries (NiMH) I have purchased recently ranging from 1200 mAHr to 2300 mAHr in any devices I use them in. Check the battery physical size for any that you might consider purchasing. There is a foam ring that fits around the speaker magnet, and as far as I know the speaker is not loose with this ring installed. The batteries must fit securely in the case, and may be difficult for some to remove, I have not encountered any difficulties. If anyone has difficulty removing the batteries, I can suggest laying a piece of string or ribbon under the batteries before they are inserted. This is easily implemented by the user if desired. There is no battery connector, the battery pack is wired directly to the K1. There is a disconnect switch. Some folks wanted to have a disconnect point, and certainly one could be installed by the end user if desired, but it is not supplied by Elecraft. 73, Don W3FPR > -Original Message- > > >From last reading of the archives these were the issues left with no > resolution > ---adding connector for the battery pack disconnect? Don and group My apology for not being more specific >From last reading of the archives these were the issues left with no resolution ---adding connector for the battery pack disconnect? (is it part of the KBT1 now) ---upgrade size of pack to allow for larger AA batteries? ---ease of removal batteries from the case? ---speaker loose installation? You will have to be more specific about your concerns, you did not give any information about the problem/concern that you were alluding to, so we can only guess. We cannot positively say whether the problem that you are thinking about has been addressed or not, but since no recent reflector discussion has occurred, it is likely that any initial problems have been rectified long ago. 73, Don W3FPR ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. [Elecraft] KBT1?
For the past several days I have been reading the archived messages regarding the KBT1. There was a lot of discussion when the accessory became available but it is not clear if the problems/concerns have been addressed or if the same issues exist. Is the KBT1 now available an improved version? [Elecraft] KBT1 internal disconnect
I have a K1, with a KBT1 which I can pop out of the rig with speed, confidence, and ease. The connectors used to allow a "quick disconnect" of the KBT1 are the key to the modification. Requirements: 1. I wanted my setup to be foolproof, in that neither end had exposed contacts when disconnected. 2. The combined connectors must be small yet workable, and reliable, and readily available. 3. The connector assembly must be physically polarized. So, I used two-conductor AMP Mate-N-Lok connectors, available from Mouser. They met ALL THREE requirements. On the radio side, the wires get terminated in Mouser #571-14803190 free hanging shrouded pin housing. I used Mouser #571-606181 male pins for 18 AWG as the contact. On the battery side, I used Mouser #517-14803180 in-line socket housing, with Mouser #551-606191 female pins as the contact. Mouser has no minimum order and does not mark up their domestic shipping costs. Their website is almost as easy to order from as is the Elecraft website! ;-) With a 3 or 4 cm pigtail on the radio side, this connector assembly fits easily in the cabinet, even with the KAT1 and 4-band board. Disclaimer: no Mouser or AMP relationship, etc. __ Yahoo! for Good - Make a difference this year. http://brand.yahoo.com/cybergivingweek2005/ ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. [Elecraft] KBT1 Batterys
Wondering if anyone has actually used a set of 8 of the (Size AA) Energizer 2100 mah NiMH / Rechargeable batteries in the KBT1 for a K1? I just happen to already have 8 of these batterys prior to installing the KBT1 in my K1. I was just wondering if they will fit the KBT1 ok. 73, Don / WA9TGT ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr.
