Hi Guy, Yup - that's it. Just an option to switch from a solid tone to a series of 40wpm dots whenever you push the tune button. 73 de James K2QI -Original Message- From: guyk...@gmail.com [mailto:guyk...@gmail.com] On Behalf Of Guy Olinger K2AV Sent: Thursday, December 31, 2009 4:22 PM To: James Sarte Cc: elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Elecraft] Tube Amplifiers This would be an option to have the TUNE hold function send interrupted 40 wpm dots instead of a solid tone? I'm waiting for a ham band 1500 watt CCS transistor amp with a built-in auto-tuner before I ditch my 3CX1200s and 3-1000Z's. I suppose it would save you the price of a bug or a set of paddles (or at a minimum, the cost of a 555 chip and a few discrete components), but I'm also sure the new owner of Vibroplex (Scott, W4PA) would appreciate the business. I think the software "feature" you want is already in the K3. Use, the CW mode, adjust the keyer to 30 WPM or so, and you have a 50% duty cycle pulser - just hold down the "dot" paddle. If you want a lower duty cycle, simply tweak the "weight" option until you get what you want. Interesting that a new article on eHam suggests programming one of the CW memories with a series of dits. You would have to be in CW mode for it to work.
