Ralph is correct, if the lab is NRTL recognized, the work can be done at any of
the recognized sites listed on the OSHA website (provided they have the
equipment).

I think if accredited by OSHA, the lab can be located almost anywhere. For
example, CSA is an NRTL and they have offices across Canada and in India, ITS
has offices in China, etc.

FCC (Fischer Custom Communications) makes a very large clamp for the purpose

Although they don¹t show a data sheet, you can derive from the max input
power and insertion loss that it¹s capable of injecting 2 amps. But only
between roughly 400 kHz to 10 MHz.

Subject: [PSES] RF CS High Current Test Level

Hi Folks

Does anyone have experience generating 1.7A CW (10KHz - 400MHz) using Bulk
Current Injection?

Wondering how people have achieved it, is there a BCI on the market able to
sustain this level "off the shelf" or a vendor who custom builds them?

A possible alternative was to use multiple BCI's and a Power Splitter, but I
can see this problematic at higher frequencies due to wavelength/phase etc

I realise that you would need separate BCI's, splitting the test into
frequency bands as no one BCI could do it all

Thanks for any help provided

I recall I don't believe we were asked to do this by the relevant agencies

Re: [PSES] Hosedown test

2017-05-03 Thread Ted Eckert
The testing does not need to be done in the United States. The list of NRTL's,
the location of their labs and the standards they are approved to test to are
at the following link.
https://www.osha.gov/dts/otpca/nrtl/nrtllist.html

A number of the labs are accredited to test to UL 50 and have facilities in
Europe. These include, but are not limited to, Intertek, UL and TUV Rheinland.
I'm not sure how the program differentiates between UL 50 and UL 50E. However,
the UL 50E testing is very similar to IEC 60529 testing and I would expect a
test lab capable of testing for IP class to be able to test to UL 50E. That
being said, my expectations are not always met.

The opinions expressed are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of my
employer, OSHA, the UL 50E STP or any rational human being who regularly tests
enclosures.

Re: [PSES] Hosedown test

2017-05-03 Thread Nyffenegger, Dave
Several NRTLs have labs in the EU, TUV and Intertek for example. Intertek is
worldwide, I think UL is as well. The NRTL evaluation does not have to be done
in the USA.

My experience has been that if you need NRTL listing of the product, the test
needs to be done at a suitable lab in the USA

Be good to know if someone has experience to the contrary

A Google search

on "scope of accreditation UL 50e hosedown" gives a few hits, none in the
EU. For example, see the bottom of page 3 of this doc

[PSES] Hosedown test

2017-05-03 Thread Boštjan Glavič
Dear experts,

Is anyone familiar if there exists laboratory with accreditation for hosedown
test according to UL 50E (type 4X)? The best would be in EU.

Thank you for your support.

Best regards
Bostjan
