Wallace,

From the command line: which gedit

If that doesn't work (may not be in your path) try: find / -name gedit
-print

First command should report back really quick. Second might take a while,
depending on the size of your computer system.

You have to specify the editor in your ini file. If your on Debian you
have to add Gedit.

Hi Wallace .
I got the same problem when I made a new installation using the Debian
Wheezy package.
As John told you , you should specify the editor program you want to use
into the INI file.
Keep in mind that Debian comes with an editor called Mousepad .
So if you want Gedit working you should download it and install it and then
declare it as the dafault editor into the INI file.

[Emc-users] Lathe/turning CAM solutions

2014-12-13 Thread Tom Easterday
Does anyone know of a relatively inexpensive CAM package for turning? We use
Sheetcam and (to a lesser extent) MeshCAM for milling and jet cutting
toolpaths. We are working on a lathe retrofit and would like to find a good
standalone CAM package that can generate lathe toolpaths. The facility where
this lathe will ultimately end up (http://maker-works.com) may, or may not, be
eligible for educational pricing. Also, if there are no $500usd options
what are the next best options in terms of functionality/$ ?

You only really need a CAM package for parts that are contoured. I.E.
not regular OD, Face, Id and such. For the standard stuff I use NGCGUI
and LatheMacro. Both of these are found under the example configs.

For the contour stuff I use Cambam. The lathe module is not very strong
and does not cut ID curves. It does the job for me though. All the other
things can be done with the two options I mentioned. I use both of them
all the time. The Lathemacro tool from Andy Pugh is very good for
cutting tapers and radii.

for that reason that drive ask for these signals -from encoder

but i do not need to drive close the loop!!!
because linuxcnc will close the loop.

if this right then can i use

the reason is that this drives cost 3 times less then drives that capable

Aram, these are the differential inputs for the INDEX signal from the
quadrature encoder. You can use that in several ways but mostly it is
used when doing threading. There are other uses as well as I said.

This is usually the servo drive enable signal. It could be wired in HAL
to machine-is-on or any other function that you choose.

Re: [Emc-users] mesa board --7i33

2014-12-13 Thread a k
Hi
i use 5i20+ 7i33
i am interesting if i can use this ac motor drive
http://www.anaheimautomation.com/products/ac/ac-drivers-controllers.php?tID=1176pt=tcID=385

and i will use PIN--ENAO -- to drive -motor drive (+/- 5 V DC)

and signals from ac servo motor encoder directly connect to 7i33 board
a, a-, b, b-
?
thank you
aram

Aram, these are the differential inputs for the INDEX signal from the
quadrature encoder. You can use that in several ways but mostly it is
used when doing threading. There are other uses as well as I said.

  corresponding pins on 7i33 board.
what is the relation between --IDX0, -IDXO with U,U-,V,V-,W,W-?

7I33 board has pin VCC-- is this out put +/-5 V DC that drives motor
 drive?

PIN --ENA0 -from 7i33 --- what is function of this pin?
This is usually the servo drive enable signal. It could be wired in HAL
to machine-is-on or any other function that you choose.
  thank you
