Maybe I'm misunderstanding what your doing. I'm assuming that the two things
you want aligned are
the bore perpendicular to the large face and a key way in the base. I was
wrong in referring to the key way as a t-slot. In the original mail you were
referring to making a hole perpendicular to and aligned to the center of the
bore. Couldn't see a hole in the drawing and it looked like there was a key way
aligning the center of the bore to the center t-slot of the table.

One more setup then; large face down and face cut base, then base down and face
cut large face, back to large face down and skim cut on base and cut key way on
base. This gets the two faces perpendicular and the center of the key way
perpendicular to the large face.

Sorry about the confusion with regards to t-slot and key way.

Re: [Emc-users] Milling setup question

2017-03-30 Thread Drew Rogge
I would:

place the part on the base and machine large face

place part on large face and machine the base and the t-slot. This means that
the base and long dim. of the t-slot are perpendicular to the face

place part on base and indicate large face to be perpendicular to spindle. This
also means that length of the t-slot is parallel to the spindle

sweep the two sides of the t-slot to center spindle on slot

machine bore.

[Emc-users] connecting logic components inputs without creating signals

2014-08-16 Thread Drew Rogge
Is there a way to associate logic component inputs with pins without using net
and creating signals? The example on the Basic HAL Tutorial creates a signal
when connecting parport.0.pin-11-in to and2.0.in0:

loadrt and2 count=
addf and2.0 servo-thread

net my-sigin1 and2.0.in0 <= parport.0.pin-11-in
net my-sigin2 and2.0.in1 <= parport.0.pin-12-in
net both-on parport.0.pin-14-out <= and2.0.out

Unless the signals my-sigin1 and 2 are going to be used for debugging they seem
superfluous.

What if you used something that had like an annulus opening that the glue was
pumped through? Imagine two tubes one inside the other and the glue coming out
in the gap between the two. Maybe you could blow air through the center of the
inner tube to keep glue out of it and there fore off the bottom of the marble.

The link points to a switch not a router. Not sure how that's going to help.

For an ethernet thermometer you could try these:

Total of about $38. Still not cheap though.

You could cut some shallow grooves in the bottom of the tailstock where
it sits on the ways and then drill a hole which intersects them. Attach an
air fitting to the other end of the hole. When you want to move the
tailstock just pump a bit of air in and instant air bearing. Of course
you'll probable want appropriate filters and such to keep the grit out.

2007-12-17 Thread Drew Rogge
Thanks Gene. I hit a roadblock this weekend with the machine I wanted
to use for EMC. It's an IBM ZPro, 2.88Ghz and should work. The machine
has SCSI drives in it and that may be the problem. So far it's not a
problem with EMC, I couldn't even get the Ubunto 6.06 Live CD to
install. I may try picking up a PCI ATA disk drive today if I can't
find any info here at work.

Thanks for the info Gene. Looks like I'll give installing
EMC a go this weekend.

[Emc-users] EMC2 backlash compensation

2007-12-14 Thread Drew Rogge
I've been using TurboCNC off an on for a few years now and
last night I ran into a problem with my gecko servo driver
faulting out. I think the problem is that I was running a
low feedrate, 2.25 IPM, and have a lot of backlash comp-
ensation, .005", configured. I'm pretty sure that the
drive was faulting when the X axis switched feed directions
and TCNC would issue a bunch of pulses to take out the back-
lash. I seem to recall that TCNC doesn't use any kind of an
acceleration curve or anything for these moves.

So any way, do people feel that EMC2 does a good job of
dealing with large amounts of backlash? Has anyone had a
problem with drives faulting during backlash comp?

Thanks,
Drew
