We have some physics experiments right near that time, and the exact dates have not been nailed down. I did tell them about the CNC Workshop, and they are trying to work around those dates. But, I may not know positively for a few more weeks. Is that going to happen again this year?I have heard nothing about it. I have a lot of connections to Ford Dearborn. When I was a little kid (like 6) I took swimming lessons at Greenfield Village. Ford used to have a large indoor swimming pool there. If you go there, you need to go east on Warren and hit the Arab bakeries. Some of the food is really good.I can supply further recommendations. :-) Dave On 4/13/2016 9:27 AM, John Alexander Stewart wrote: > Hi all; > > Last June, I attended the CNC Workshop in Dearborn Michigan, and gave two > talks on LinuxCNC. > > (I have the notes up at cnc-for-model-engineers.blogspot.com if you want to > see what I presented) > > It was a good time, with great people. Re: [Emc-users] CNC Workshop - we need LinuxCNC/MachineKit talks.
Hi Jim and others: http://www.thecncworkshop.com/ I found that each and every one of the attendees and exhibitors and vendors were down to earth, nice people. It was a pleasure to be there. Techshop Detroit was very accommodating. Ron Ginger was also a pleasure to meet in person. I did have my machine-kit driven CNC lathe there last year, which drew a bit of interest. This year they do have a CNC lathe build, but IIRC the interface used is one of those expensive, Mach-only ones. (Ron - pardon me for rooting for the LinuxCNC vendors!) It would have been interesting to use a pico or mesa interface and show LinuxCNC also running on the build-lathe - but it will not be me doing it this year. I might be able to go. What is the link to the event webpage just to make sure we are talking about the same event. Re: [Emc-users] CNC Workshop - we need LinuxCNC/MachineKit talks.
I brought up the idea about splitting user interface and real time parts and there actually are NML communication between these today, maybe a little bit broken but not to much. I am also working at moving position control from linuxcnc to stepper generator for steppers. Then it should be possible with a receive fifo which reduce real time demand and in particular network traffic for feed back loops. It will also be possible to broadcast all positions in one network packet to several receiving nodes. Both of them are only about deployment. [Emc-users] CNC Workshop - we need LinuxCNC/MachineKit talks.
Hi all; Last June, I attended the CNC Workshop in Dearborn Michigan, and gave two talks on LinuxCNC. (I have the notes up at cnc-for-model-engineers.blogspot.com if you want to see what I presented) It was a good time, with great people. It was worth the 8 hour each way drive. This year, I'm in the midst of contract negotiations, and am unsure whether I'll be able to take time off, so I can not commit. Can someone (or, a group) go and present something on LinuxCNC and/or PathPilot and/or MachineKit? Even if someone takes my slides and presents them again, but with their own experience wound in, it might be a start. The audience was small, so the presentation was intimate, and almost one-on-one, which was great IMHO. FYI - I really enjoyed Dearborn, the Henry Ford Museum, and the Greenfield Village, which is right around the corner from the CNC meeting. I'd love to go back this year, but can not commit at this time.
