Running E16 on Debian Sarge. I realize you can have a different image
for each virtual desktop, but can you have a separate image on each
screen within the virtual desktop? And what command do I use to
control them from a script?

Thanks,
 Dave

[e-users] Cycling backgrounds

2005-08-03 Thread David Berg
I can't seem to figure out how backgrounds in E are handled. I'd like
to control which background is displayed on which virtual desktop from
a script. what files do I need to modify or commands do I need to
execute in order to do this? Can you have different images on each
screen of a virtual desktop?

Thanks for any help.

Dave

it isn't possible as in x when a mouse hits a screen edge - it stops moving and
there are not events or info telling you how much the user wants to move the
mouse "off" the edge. it's stuck there - thus e uses a timeout mechanism - how
long does the mouse stay on an edge without moving back away from the edge. thus
you want the -edge-flip-timeout-set to enlightenment_remote - yes its cryptic.
gui's are ont he todo list :)

I guess these are a bit cryptic at the moment without knowledge of the implementation.
Take a look at these:
-edge-flip-timeout-set OPT1 Set the edge flip timeout (sec)
-edge-flip-timeout-get Get the edge flip timeout

You want to increase the timeout.

[e-users] Desktop edge resist.

2005-08-03 Thread Omry Yadan

Hi.

The desktop flip is too sensitive for me.

I checked enlightment remote, and it has use-resist set to 1.

I tried both desk-resist-set to 100 and to 0, but it didnt change
anything I noticed about that.

regardless of the sensitivity, right now it feels like all I need to do
to switch desktop is to sit on the edge for a while.

maybe a better resist implemtation would be to have the user need to put
a certain amount of 'energy' into flipping, something like pissing into
the wind :)

the question is if its possible to detect when the mouse is moving into
the edge of the screen.

I just symlinked all my eap files into .e/e/applications/engage and it

Thanks!

I should probably just symlink every .e/e/applications subdir to all and
leave it at that.

I tried your suggestion, but it didn't work.

For example, my evolution.eap has a window class of Evolution. I
started Evolution from the terminal, and it's window class was the same.
There's something else going on that I'm not seeing.

BTW, XMMS used to do the same thing, until I changed my xmms.eap used in
engage to the one supplied with Enlightenment. Now when I start XMMS,
no further icons appear in engage. I compared the xmms.eap I created to
the one included with enlightenment, and the details were the same. The
only difference is that if I use my xmms.eap in engage, starting XMMS
creates another icon in enage. What gives?

Thanks for your help.
