really - you should consider having a popup to display the full calendar
(e_popup) that is displayed when u click on the calendar object. the caledar
obj should probably just display today's day and date (and month) - if you
eventually add appointments and stuff maybe the ability to display today's
appointments as little timelines - but that's only if you add that.

In my experience, this is a sizing issue. 

If you enter edit mode and widen the calendar display, the problem will disappear. 

I have encountered the same issue on days where there are overlapping
numbers, e.g. 31/1. Again, edit mode - widen the display
will correct the problem

I would suspect it's simply an issue that the calendar is not large 
enough to properly display the numbers.  Would you prefer the numbers be 
displayed overlapping?  I guess that would be a better indication of the 
problem.
