Model 31021 24v charger. It uses a MCR264 4 Motorola 9612 Mosfet to control
the negative side output. I'm only getting 21vdc out of the diode bridge.
I suspect the mosfet is bad. As I remember the polarity was reversed. The
board is a PC1029N REV. D 94V0. I shorted the input or other side to the
center leg with my test lead and the amber light goes on. I suspect it
isn't switching anymore.. A replacement might fix it. Can I just buy this
board? I've seen many different versions of this charger with the same
case. It has the handle built in. Is heavy and outputs 5 amps. Lawrence

ROTFLMAO

I used to have something similar sitting on my desk. It would spin for
months before you have to replace the battery hidden in the base.

I think you can still buy them at Spencers.

I love the challenge, We invite anyone to test this, but only scientists
that we approve of.

I'll follow this with skeptical interest. If true, practical applications
that generate useful levels of surplus energy will be years away, but I'm
all for cheating physics. Here's the news video:

I know some of you can't imagine something like that but whether you
believe it or not, the irish company Steorn which back in august took out
 a
full page ad in the economist with a white glove slap in the face of the
'scientific' community, is claiming a 10 day public demonstration in
 London
of the device starting this week and various reports indicate that it
 will
be today.

part of me hopes that today we will be able to say 'today we celebrate
 our
 independence day'

Hi Jack,

It is essentially a two wheel car, however its not at all like segway.I just put
that body on it to get your attention, I think it worked. We are building a 4
seater jeep at this time,it will be less expensive than a conversion, and will
go farther.

There is very little information on the website about the car or its
construction or design, what its advantages or disadvantages are.
I will assure you without that, few will pay attention, least of all
investors. From what I gather, it is essentially a two-wheel car-sized
segway. It is impressive that Mr. Sines has built it, and it works!
Let me give my feedback. Use a different body, one fit for the design,
or none at all.

An ability to turn in place is great for fork-lifts, but there is no
need for that feature in a car. What I see as the main advantage is the
reduction in parts and thus cost to build it compared to 3 or 4 wheel
cars with their required steering mechanism. But there must be a
mechanism to maintain stability as weight shifts when momentum changes.
The bouncing seen in the rather short video indicates this problem is
not solved.

This car in no way addresses the issue of batteries for EVs, which is
and has been the major issue for EVs.

An interesting vehicle... Your webpage refers to it as a car, but it
is actually registered as a motorcycle (and would not actually be legal

So, what is the advantage you see for this vehicle design over
 conventional 4-wheeled EVs?

Hi Rodger,

Yes it is a motorcycle, that means no insurance in Florida. The advantages
are,it holds more batteries so it will go farther on a charge. It will out
maneuver any 4wheel car any time, and its fun to drive. It also has 2 motors
twice the power.

I think I will come to PIR for the wayland

Speaking of battery packs..

It seems ThunderSky's prices have gone up about 25% in the last 2
months, which means they've lost most of their cost advantage over
PHET (and others), and with all this talk of dodgy business
practices, it's given me reason for pause.

So once again I'm entertaining the idea of building a pack from
18650s (yes, what a lot of work..!)

I believe the Tesla pack has modules of 99 cells in series, with 23
of these modules connected in parallel. So no single cells are
explicitly paralleled, and if capacities don't match exactly well
it's averaged out over the 99. Great way to do it.

But this requires BMS monitoring of each cell individually, which is
just too much work for me!

Simple, Peter has it right:

375 v / 3.6 volt per cell = about 104 cells or little less that are in
series or about 99 cells.

Then: 6831 cells /99 cells = about 69 strings in parallel

The 99 by 69 combination is the only number that will come out even or you
would have to cut a battery into sections.

The 375 volts is the normal pack voltage where the actual voltage will be a
little higher than that.

John,

I'll grant that you're correct. I was assuming that Tom was showing
this as a design that's ready to use by the general public, on the
roads. I do not doubt that his videos are real and that the car is
drivable and generally stable.

If that is not the case, I apologize. It woulda been nice if he'd Said
