While the low frequency noises from the engine

(Hunter's e-ATV) ] All-electric vehicles reduce
pressure on deer All-terrain vehicles are among
the most versatile tools deer hunters can have.
From discing to hauling stands and spreading
seed and fertilizer — they can do itt all. But
when deer season starts, more and more camps are
silencing their ATVs. "We have two spots where
we can drive a four-wheeler," David Cuevas of
Madison said of his Madison County hunting club.
"The rest of it is all-electric. "We have 12
members and 10 have electric carts. Most of them
are Polaris EVs and Bad Boy Buggies." Cuevas
explained that because of the camp's size and
where access roads are located, noise from ATV
traffic could be heard throughout the camp and
put unwanted stress on their deer. "We have
about 1,200 acres and 12 members and to get
anywhere, you have to go through the middle of
it," Cuevas said. "Our four-wheelers were making
so much noise and went right through the middle
of camp. So, we decided to go all-electric."
With fewer ATVs on the property, the noise level
might be acceptable, but club president Tommy
Kendall said simple economics pushed the volume
too high. "I guess, primarily, it's the price of
leased land," Kendall, of Madison, said. "It's
gotten so expensive now. "You've got to increase
the number of hunters to afford it.
Four-wheelers on 1,200 acres — you can hear them
aalmost all the way across the property. I just
decided to go electric. These aren't like your
typical golf cars. These are four-wheel drive."
The impact on the deer was immediately
noticeable to the camp members. "We instantly
saw a difference," Kendall said. "We can drive
up to a food plot and see four or five deer. "We
never, ever had that happen before. It's really
worked well. There's no doubt, it's the way to
do it." While the decision to use electric
vehicles during deer season has worked for their
camp, ATV's still have their place for jobs
during the remainder of the year. "During the
off-season, we'll allow four-wheelers," Kendall
said. "During deer season, they're off limits."
According to Stewart Conway, owner of Gulf
States Golf Cars in Ridgeland, more camps have
followed the same path. "I've certainly seen a
shift from gas cars to electric for hunting,"
Conway said. "I've talked to a lot of people
who've said their camps require electric
vehicles. It's becoming much more common." Some
hunters associate battery-powered vehicles with
poor performance and limited range, but
according to Conway, that's not really the case.
He said cars he customizes can travel at speeds
around 20 miles per hour and newer battery
technology allows them to go about 25 miles
between charges, depending on the terrain and
load. "I've never had anyone come back and say,
'It doesn't go as far as I need,'" Conway said.

The new 2016 Chevy Volt has front grill shutters that automatically close at
high speed, when less cooling airflow is needed, then open up at lower speeds
to let in more air. So that's one possibility, even if you control it manually
yourself.

have a dog that the second I pull up he comes over to my car and pees on the

We figure it might be some high pitch sound or other unknown phenomenon that

Despite six inches of mud, constant rain, and pulled ligaments in his left

SuperMoto USA this past weekend. #‎noshifting
]

San Francisco-based Alta Motors began production and deliveries of its
breakthrough performance electric motorcycles Redshift (available in
Motorcross MX and Supermoto SM versions).

The first Redshift MX was purchased (through BMW Motorcycles of San
Francisco) by Eric Gauthier and Jeannine Smith, who own and operate
Suspension Performance in Mountain View, CA.

Marc Fenigstein, co-founder and CEO of Alta Motors said:

“We’ve been quietly driving towards this moment for over 8 years in
pursuit of creating the best motorcycles money can buy. The result is a
machine with a whole suite of new technologies, and a very different
motorcycle than anything that has come before. The Redshift feels
immediately comfortable to anyone who has ever thrown a leg over a state of
the art performance motorcycle, but offers a leap forward in control, feel,
and the connection between the rider’s brain and the tires on the ground. To
have successful, speed-minded customers like Eric and Jeannine take delivery
of the first Redshift is a tremendous honor for Alta Motors.”

Alta Motors was founded as BRD Motorcycles in 2007 and later changed its
name:

“Alta Motors began in 2007 as an idea – what the perfect torque delivery
of electric drive could do for motorcycle riders and racers. Officially
founding the company in 2010, Marc and his partners, Derek Dorresteyn and
Jeff Sand, have been obsessively churning out ground-breaking technology to
build the RedShift, a legitimate performance electric motorcycle capable of
competing against any bike and power plant on the grid. The Alta team now
includes the very best from Tesla, GM, Toyota, Volkswagen and AMA racing.

The RedShift isn’t put together from off-the-shelf motors and
electronics from automotive, bicycle, industrial or even aerospace
applications. This electric motorcycle is a clean sheet, proprietary design.
Every part was created, tuned and tested for pure performance on-road and
off.”

Alta Motors is hiring for various positions (see jobs openings).

Highlights of Redshift performance was shown in November when Redshift SM
won against gas-powered competitors:

“Recently, the Redshift SM proved its outrageous performance by winning
the IMS Sacramento round of the Supermoto USA race series held November 6-8.
Alta Motors technician and pro racer Kevin Butler took the Redshift from the
last place on the grid to first across the finish line in his first-ever
supermoto race. The victory also marks the first time an unmodified,
production electric motorcycle triumphed over gas-powered competitors.”
