Duplicate Entries in 5.5 GAL

2002-05-29 Thread David Barnes

A customer has Exchange 5.5 (SP4) in 2 sites (A B), each with a single
server. There is Directory Replication set up between the 2 and all was
well until last week. Then, owing to a problem he had to completely
rebuild the site A server. He was able to get everything back to a point
where everything was OK - mail flowed between the 2 sites from each site
to the outside world (via site A). However, the GAL at site B is now
showing all of the old entries for site as well as the new ones.

In looking at TechNet articles it seems that site B is waiting for site A
to send replication information to remove the old objects, but this won't
happen. I cannot determine from what I've read whether simply removing
the Directory Replication Connector at site B and then re-creating it will
cure the problem (Or if it is supposed to, how long it will take). So any
suggestions would be useful.

RE: Problem with Recurring Appointments in OL2K

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately it made no difference.

 Try /cleanreminders switch.

Subject: Problem with Recurring Appointments in OL2K

One of my users keeps a record of each employee's birthday in her OL2K
Calendar. These are set up as recurring appointments that fire off on the
appropriate date. All was working fine until recently. Now when she starts
OL at the beginning of the day all these reminders fire off almost
immediately. If she were to log off and log back on again during the day
then the reminders do not appear but will do so the following day. The only
recent event of note was that her mailbox was moved from Exchange 5.5 to
Exchange 2000 but, because she was also rebuilding her PC at the time, she
cannot tell me whether she has had a day without the reminders since that
move. I don't know whether this is a problem exclusive to Outlook or
whether E2K is involved, hence the post here.

Messages forwarded from PF as Posts

2002-02-21 Thread David Barnes

I have 5.5 SP4 on NT server and E2K SP2 on another server. All mailboxes
and PFs are homed on the latter. The last thing I have to do before
decommissioning the 5.5 server is to route Internet mail via E2K. At the
moment I have everything going out through E2K but everything coming in to
5.5. When I changed things so that everything comes in via E2K I do
receive Internet mail that way. However, I have one slight niggle. There
are several PFs that autoforward all messages to mailboxes using leave
message intact. These messages appeared in the mailboxes as Posts rather
than Messages and I would prefer the latter. Changing back the incoming
route via 5.5 got the messages to appear correctly. Is there a setting
I'm missing somewhere?

MAPI or an unspecified service provider

2001-12-13 Thread David Barnes

Customer added a second Exch 5.5 (SP4) server into his site and moved some
mailboxes from the other one. Then he relocated the second server, since
which any attempts to run the Administrator program have resulted in the
subject error message with the error code of all zeroes. The error is
exactly defined in Q193567, which is the only resource I can find that
does define it so. However, the resolution does not work. The only thing
I can think of is that something has been corrupted somehow but did not
become apparent until the machine was re-booted.

Does anyone have any ideas? The customer is thinking of moving the
mailboxes back (1000 of them!) and completely rebuilding the new server!

Thanks,

He can connect to the Exchange Administrator on every workstation and
server other than the second exchange server!

LDP.EXE for Exchange 5.5 on NT4

2001-11-16 Thread David Barnes

TechNet article Q259282 says that there are different versions of this -
one for Ex5.5 the other Win2K. It says The Exchange version is found
on the Exchange 5.5 Resource Kit. It doesn't. I've exhausted all my
sources still no joy. If anyone has even seen the Exchange version of
this I'd be pleased to know where it might reside.

Thanks,
