Re: Connector for Lotus Notes

2002-04-03 Thread John Westworth

You can't have 2 Notes Connectors connecting the same EXCHANGE.BOX either as
it is liable to cause contention issuers which can result in a corrupt file.

(Ie both connectors try and grab the same message at the same time)

I don't think it would be a problem to actually set up another Notes
connector, but if I'm not mistaken, the Notes connector is another EDK
gateway like the IMS. It will therefore probably be subject to the same
issues with regards to re-routing, e.g. the MTA always sees the IMS as
available and therefore won't re-route messages if the IMS is down. If
the same is true with the Notes connector, then I don't think you'll get
true redundancy.

The Lotus Notes directory is imported into the Exchange environment. The
Notes custom recipients make up about 2/3 of our total address list. Any
chance to implement the solution as posted earlier?

Thanks,

You may want to investigate using SMTP at your relay between Lotus Notes and

Off topic: Message Number 54101 (was Connector for Lotus Notes)

2002-01-11 Thread Olivier de Heer

Dear All,

Sorry to bother you again with this Connector for Lotus Notes connecter
thing (@#%* :-(. Still no e-mail flow from Exchange to Notes. Number of
messages stuck in the Outbound to Notes queue: 3408 (and counting).

When I try to start the Convert Exchange to Notes process (Exchange
Connectivity Administrator, “Start One Process” option), it stops after a
few seconds (Every other process is running and Idle). The Log Browser
displays 4 yellow (level 2; warning) messages:

LME-NOTES-MEXNTS 41409 The NOTES Server the NMC is connected to is Notes
Build Version: 147
LME-NOTES-MEXNTS 41410 The local Notes platform the NMC is running on is
Notes Build Version: 147
LME-NOTES-MEXNTS 54101 Error {Unrecognised transform} Exchange to Notes
Attachment XFM failed.
LME-NOTES-MEXNTS 54101 An ABNORMAL SHUTDOWN request has been received.

Now TechNet tells me in Q197870 of message number 54006: Error {GRC:2828}
Notes to Exchange Attachment XFM failed

Their solution is the good old “please install the latest service pack”
one. In Q197870 their talking about SP3. This Exchange box is running on
SP4, both lsntsmex.exe and lsntshc.dll version being 5.5.1960.8.
Anyone out there who knows what’s going on?
Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Olivier

Has it ever worked?
When you look at the Process Manager for the Notes Connector, which
processes are not running? Can you try starting the stopped processes from
this window? If the process refuses to start, check the Log Browser to see
if there is any valuable information there.

RE: Connector for Lotus Notes

2002-01-03 Thread Pruden, Randy W

Have you checked the consistency of the Exchange.box and Exchange.bad folders on the
Notes server your connector is pointing to?

On the Notes server there should be a command prompt open on the Notes server console
once you log in. It's title should start with 'Lotus Notes Server:'

You might try this at the console prompt:

Load fixup Exchange.bad
(Checks/fixes inconsistencies in Exchange.bad)

Load fixup Exchange.box
(Checks/fixes inconsistencies in Exchange.box)

RE: Connector for Lotus Notes

Lynne,

Thanks for your input.
I’ve restarted the connector and all processes are idle except the
“Convert Exchange to Notes” one. I’ve checked the Event Log and I can’t
find any strange things except the following message:
ENS: 2002/01/03.00.00.01- LME-NOTES-DXANOTES(0216) 1 64138.Error (System
failure) detected when looking for changes in NAMES.NSF
But this is another problem I suppose.

Connector for Lotus Notes

2002-01-03 Thread Bowles, John L.

Oliver,

I had a similiar problem w/my Lotus Notes connector. We were receiving mail
from Notes pretty fast but our Exchange mail that was sent to Notes was
backing up in the queue. What it boiled down to was that the Notes
Administrators decided to change the Lotus Notes Domain that the Notes
server (that our Notes connector was connected to) was in before (when
working) and placed it into another one. They had to place it back and mail
started flowing again. Let me know if this sounds familiar.

RE: Using Connector for Lotus Notes for Co-Existence.

2001-09-10 Thread Neil Hobson

I can think of at least 4 Notes Connector installs for customers that
I've done over the years, some of which have now been operational for
well over 3 years. One company had multiple divisions all running their
own mail system; they simply wanted a shared address book, hence the
connector install. Supported users range from 200-500 Notes users, with
the biggest synchronised GAL being around 6,000.

Overall, I'm happy with the connector as a long-term coexistence tool.
If there have been any serious problems, then none of the site contacts
has informed me of them!

2001-09-10 Thread Monteleone-Haught Matt - Millville

1.Since 7/2001 on this site, since 10/2000 at our European hub site.
2.We merged with a company that has 130+ notes sites, we have about the same
amount of Exchange sites neither side could justify the cost to migrate,
yet...
3.None, it's just a connector of sorts. Just connects the NJ Exchange Hub
site with the OH Notes Hub site.
4.Lots...It chugs along all day...hell it doesn't have to do a damn thing,
the Exchange box does all the conversions
5.Notes sucks. Notes client sucks more. I'd rather go back to MS Mail then
migrate to Notes. With an adequately sized Notes server you should only
have to reboot it every couple of months.

Answers:

1. We have been using it since 5/2000.
2. We bought another company, they are using Notes.
3. It is a connector, no user support.
4. Never counted. It is busy all day. The connector is between New Jersey
and SF.
5. It is fairly reliable, but the server does have to be recycled about
every thirty days.

The single biggest weakness, in my opinion, of the Connector for Lotus Notes
