RE: Delay Outgoing Mail
Dennis, Open up your POP3 or IMAP on your firewalls, and let him do it that way! as far as I know you cannot schedule the send and recieve for a MAPI account as you have a session to the server and are battering UDP requests around! The alternate would be to buy your CEO a copy of Sending E-mails for Dummy's!! James Ray, Where is this option? I don't have a 'Mail Delivery' tab in my Outlook2K. Yes. But I'm sure the PHB CEO doesn't want to have to do this himself. This would probably be one of those times We have looked into possible options, and the answer is no on the server side. On the client side you could do this (show him Rays and Williams methods), or we could bring in a programming consultant to make OL ask yes or no. I dont think you can specify Do not deliver for X amount in minutes in this way however- which is what he is looking for. RE: Delay Outgoing Mail
He is too stupid to do anything himself and constantly tasks his employees with complete waste of time jobs. -Original Message- From: Daniel Chenault [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, March 28, 2002 1:58 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Re: Delay Outgoing Mail Pointy-Haired Boss, from Dilbert. - Original Message - From: Etts, Russell [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Exchange Discussions [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, March 28, 2002 12:06 PM Subject: RE: Delay Outgoing Mail Question - What does PHB mean?? But I'm sure the PHB CEO doesn't want to have to do this himself. This would probably be one of those times We have looked into possible options, and the answer is no on the server side. On the client side you could do this (show him Rays and Williams methods), or we could bring in a programming consultant to make OL ask yes or no. Regardless, now I have to look into delaying out-going e-mails so that we have a chance to intercept it if we encounter this again. RANT To be quite honest, even if this is possible, I'm not really thrilled about implementing it, and I may go as far as saying it's not possible ;) I think delaying the e-mails would cause other problems that I'm not willing to deal with, plus I'm sure it would be difficult to delay just out-bound stuff (versus internal mails), and there is no way folks would take kindly to me delaying our internal stuff (and it wouldn't matter who 'wanted' it to be done). /RANT At this point, I'm curious if this is do-able, but I'm not that worried about it Another funny thing is this is the most techno-savvy CEO I've dealt with in my career. He's also smart enough to know it was %100 his fault (you should have heard him rag on himself for doing this). Usually we'll get bitched at for not being able to stop it (i.e. we'll get crap because the e-mail system works too fast). I'll shut up now.. RE: Delay Outgoing Mail
Perhaps you could help us understand why you want to do this. Even if you were to delay the email, they would sit in the IMS que. So you couldn't do much with them. You could put Exch on a dial up and dial the internet every 30 minutes to UL and DL. What is the ultimate goal here? -Original Message- From: Rasey, Dennis [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, March 27, 2002 5:29 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Delay Outgoing Mail I'm trying to find an option to allow us to delay outgoing e-mails.
