Do you just have the one exchange server? Is the IMS on a separate server?

What would be the cause of messages getting hung in the Internet mail,
Inbound Messages Awaiting Conversion queue? I've literrally got 2500
message stuck in that queue that have been there since the 10th. I cannot
find any error logs in eventviewer.

We have this problem periodically and the only solution has been to reboot
the server. My boss is starting to press back now and wants to know the
cause and a solution.

We can send mail fine through the connector.

Server is Exchange 5.5 sp4 on NT4 SP6a

Thanks for your help

Do you have a file based AV scanner on the server which is scanning the

I have 3 servers total, 2 of which have an IMS on them. The one that we are
having problems with is an IMS that is used only to send/receive secure
client e-mail via direct connections or vpn connections with clients.

RE: Inbound Messages Awaiting Conversion

Have you tried reinstalling the IMS? It sounds like the MAPI thread inside
the IMS that removes the inbound messages from the queue might be screwed up
somewhat.

Does restarting the IMS have any effect?

Re: Inbound Messages Awaiting Conversion

2001-12-12 Thread Hoople

Casey,

I have seen several instances of corrupted messages getting stuck in the
MTS-IN queue as you describe. Most were messages that had a virus and were
partially cleaned at a remote site and them mailed out.

Have a look a Q165505 at the MS Support website. Also, are you sure this
particular server is at SP4 as this behavious was a problem that wasn't
fully fixed until SP2.

RE: Inbound Messages Awaiting Conversion

2001-12-12 Thread Friese, Casey

Michael,

Thanks for the reply. This server wasn't build until after SP4 came out so
that is the only service pack level that has been applied to it.

I believe that the problem does have to do with corrupt messages because I
removed everything from the IMCdata in folder to another location and copied
a few messages up at a time and they were delivered successfully.

Thanks for the info

Re: Inbound Messages Awaiting Conversion

2001-12-12 Thread Daniel Chenault

I've seen this when the AVAPI thread loses its way. I'm not familiar
enough with NAV to be able to say whether it can be set to ignore the IMS
queues, but that's what I'd do, letting NAV scan the mail later instead of
holding up the conversion process.
