[FairfieldLife] Re: What is Conscionable, in TM?
Of Spiritual morality and ethical behavior, inside Swami Brahmananda Saraswati's discourses the importance of moral behavior and the company we keep is very much a thread that runs through his satsanga. SBS groups together the study of spiritual works, cultivating transcendence (meditation practices) and also behavior that does not impugn the spiritual subtle system. The discourses are short talks given as practical spirituality. They are erudite and grounded with folk sense of countryside humor (mid-20th Century). This was the talk warning of the selling of life for the price of spinach. An advice that held intrinsic value that was important clarification, like a moral wake up, for people in TM then. Discourse 59 “After experiencing 8,400,000 births, we have obtained this rare human body; don't waste it. Each and every moment of life is very valuable. And if you don't understand its value? Then you will have nothing else to do but weep, and you will have nothing in your hands in the end. You are a human being, therefore you have the power to discriminate what is good and what is bad, and you can accomplish the greatest human goals. Don't think of yourself as weak or fallen. Whatever has happened in the past, understand that it was done unknowingly. But now be careful, begin doing the type of acts appropriate for a human being. Discern for yourself what is good and what is bad. Adopt the good and reject the bad. As a human being, if you don't know Paramàtmà (the Transcendent), then understand that you have sold a diamond for the price of spinach. One does not worship Paramàtmà for the sake of Paramàtmà. One worships Paramàtmà to remove one's own sorrow, lack of peace, ignorance, and lack of power. Paramàtmà is all knowing, omnipotent, and full of limitless bliss. Through worship, one can grasp on to his unending power. The fulfillment of this superb act is the real purpose of human life. After five years then came an arrival and flow of diverse mostly middling class educated peoples and families as meditators, even moving in to neighborhoods throughout town and in the county alongside locals as neighbors. I started developing pronounced heart palpitations, or erratic heart beat, after 50 years of age. After a few years of ignoring it, the condition seemed to be permanent. At the same time, I started getting dizzy or light-headed whenever rising from bending over or crouching down. That condition became more and more pronounced until it started happening almost all the time. To cut to the chase, I started taking Maharishi Amrit Kalash nectar and ambrosia religiously every day. Within one month both those conditions disappeared completely. And now, two full years later, I'm still taking those two products regularly and have not seen a re-emergence of the symptoms I described. I had no idea the products would be that successful. I'd have been happy with 60 or 70% relief. But 100%??? And another benefit that I've been reluctant to talk about until now, because I wanted more time before jumping to any conclusions -- I haven't gotten a cold or flu since I started to take the products. No joke. I've always been quite healthy all my life. And I sometimes went a whole year without catching a cold or flu. But 2 years is very unusual. I'm certainly exposed as much as anyone, I think. And I have felt the beginning stages of a cold or flu trying to get a foothold in my system. But it has not persisted more than 12 hours or so. It's really amazing. I highly, highly recommend those products. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com,wrote : just try a little Maharishi ayurveda cardio support can be called by different name elsewhere. you can also use a similar heart formula from india divya hrdyamrit vati very quick actingand powerful but don't take that one for long as it is not as mild and universally applicable as the Maharishi Ayurveda otc formulas.

Good example of the consideration locked in stock TM preparatory lecture material as the all or nothing critique. TM starts early asserting that other meditations are a waste of time. The TM research even from way back gets used to co-opt the discussion of meditations trying to define what is deep or surface. Think of Keith's Scientific American paper with the oxygen graph that was used with good sales effect back then against the Zen Buddhist that was comparative. And, R's life is certainly vested in TM this way now. Like some other TM researchers and intellectuals as they possibly understand things they are hot on it. TM fights now for market share against what is the more dominant market force in popular culture of Buddhism/ mindfulness by denigration of other practices. I feel it is wonderful you are so passionate about TM. I am too with some respect and appreciation for other spiritual practices also. TM is a great asset to have in spiritual practice. Hopefully we TM'ers can get along with other spiritual peoples, like practiced mindfulness meditators too. -JGD A simple google search for Mindfulness and Buddhism.. Translation in Asoke Sastri's book: [and then he/she] walks (gacchati) through the air (aakaashena) in any way he likes (yatheSTam; sandhi for yathaa + iSTam) It's kinda "interesting" that aakaashena is the instrumental singular from aakaasha. According to John Hagelin, aakaasha is "subtle substance that flows" (paraphrase). So, in principle the above could also be translated for instance as "goes with the help of aakaasha as s/he wishes". Doesn't over 99% of ones body consist of aakaasha (the "empty" space between molecules and "inside" atoms?)??

Thanks. I will forward a link to this to higher authorities for their review. yifuxero writes: Let's review some hypotheses and assumptions. 1. In regard to "modern" scientific inquiry, we may be in agreement that such methodologies are quite limited in scope, since there are vast bodies of phenomena beginning with simple psychic experiences that most people "believe" are true based on subjective experiences and the testimonials of others. This body of "unproved" phenomena extends into such areas as crop circles, alien appearances and abductions, cattle mutilations, Big Foot sightings, etc, and ultimately, the ME. ... 2. Most profoundly and of great importance, is the nature of Gnosis (Self-knowledge of the Atman leading to complete Brahman realization). We can go back to the early Gnostics to see how this as a Movement gradually gave way to Dualistic dogmatic religion. In the 20-th century prior to WWII, there were minor revivals such as the "I AM Movement". After WWII, we have Yogananda, Kirpal Sing, Eckankar,, etc; but most important, MMY. Ultimately, we come across (through subjective experience,) the Self - Purusha and find a true Paradox: The Self (Purusha) is indeed "experiential" but purely so, and as such, is not by It's very nature objectively provable or demonstrable to others. Thus, in terms of the ongoing evolutionary development of mankind (Cf. MMY, Eckart Tolle, and others); the hypothesis has been promulgated that the long term "Salvation" of individuals and of mankind is innately connected to Gnosis, rather than the dogma of belief systems and dualistic religions. Thus, the only way to "prove" Purusha is to experience It for yourself; and a tipping point in evolution will occur when vast numbers of people simply "overpower": those endowed with dualistic perception alone. This is the hypothesis of Tolle's "Heaven on Earth" concept. When large numbers of people are Self-aware, such Gnosis will simply take it for granted as being an intrinsic part of life, having no need for "modern science" to prove It's existence as the basis of reality. 3. OTOH, the ME is a SHAKTI-basic phenomena. Among those practicing TM for any significant length of time, a type of perception awakens in which Shakti as a subtle type of energy creeps into overall awareness, with a "Shakti-meter", allowing people to discriminate between various people and places radiating that Energy. In a sense, Shakti can be considered a subtle type of "field". Thus, the TMO's use of the term would be appropriate. 4. Unfortunately, at this state of modern scientific inquiry, there's no empirical evidence for the existence of . higher dimensions beyond our materialistic, naturalistic world. The fact that may people have experienced contact with Angels, the dead, and interdimensional phenomena is a moot point. Such personal testimonies maketh not what's acceptable as "science". If this were the case, nut cases claiming Alien abductions and others such as Scientologists AND the TMO would (and have!) attempted to make a spurious and dishonest claim for their own versions of what "should" be the true post-modern science. 5. Factually, we are dealing with MODERN scientific methods, not such

[FairfieldLife] Re: What is Conscionable, in TM?
[ email reply.. This has nothing to do with being 'judgmental.' Just about everyone associated with the IAA knows that 'minding one's own business' has to do with how we do our Program. That is clear from the context of Maharishi's saying it on his talks, which we hear all the time. It may not be clear for anyone who do not hear those talks all the time. ] Ethics, Later on MMY counseled a type of self discipline.. to be happy and "mind your own business" towards being regular practicing meditators and ‘on the program’ as a basis for behavior. This instruction would be a spiritual working ethic maybe different from social cultural ethic like the Golden Rule, that kindness seems overtly more to do with effects of behavior on subtle psycho-spiritual light-bodies of people. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com,wrote : What is unconscionable, in TM? In the ™ movement we were told some little details about Maharishi’s teacher Guru Dev, Swami Brahmananda Saraswati. About how Maharishi first met SBS and also about how Guru Dev found his own teacher. On advanced training residential courses with Maharishi back in the 1970’s for those of us who were TM teachers there was a typed one page translated discourse of Swami Brahmananda Saraswati, of Guru Dev’s that was let to be passed around. If there is no effort made toward this, then understand that you have cheated yourself.” The Sweet Teachings of the Blessed Shankaràcàrya translation by Cynthia A. In a core worldview that life is nakedly a selfish struggle for money and dominance the great act of moral decoupling woven through this in this worldview, morality has nothing to do with anything. Altruism, trust, cooperation and virtue are unaffordable luxuries in the struggle of all against all. Everything is about self-interest. Powerful, selfish people have always adopted this dirty-minded realism to justify their own selfishness. The problem is that this philosophy is based on an error about human beings and it leads to self-destructive behavior in all cases. The error is that it misunderstands what drives human action. Of course people are driven by selfish motivations — for individual status, wealth and power. But they are also motivated by another set of drives — for solidarity, love and moral fulfillment — that are equally and sometimes more powerful. People are wired to cooperate. Far from being a flimsy thing, the desire for cooperation is the primary human evolutionary advantage we have over the other animals. People have a moral sense. They have a set of universal
