[FairfieldLife] Re: Inversion Tables

2006-07-24 Thread suziezuzie
You're right. Didn't read your post carefully. The thing is, on the
inversion table I have, there is a place for the ankles, a kind of
ankle brace with foam. There isn't enough room for boots since this
ankle brace is just wide enough for ankles. Gravity boots are big and
bulky. The inversion table I purchased at Sams is very comfortable, no
problems with the ankles. One word of caution. Don't hang too long even
though it feels great. I built up to half an hour. If you feel head
pressure, bring the table up. Mark

Teeter people claim you do not need full inversion in
order to get the benefits of full inversion. I forget
the exact angle, but it's the one where the pad you
lie on is parallel with the back railings. You can
call their toll-free number and ask them. Definitely
ask for help in setting up the table.

[FairfieldLife] Re: Inversion Tables

2006-07-23 Thread suziezuzie
I bought an inversion table from Sam's for $139 that works perfect
and doesn't hurt the ankles. When I'm totally inverted, it feels so
good that I forget I'm inverted with eyes closed! It completely
relaxes the back, organs, etc. and gives you a break from the mental
construct of being 'upright' throughout most of your lifetime.

Ankle boots have the disadvantage that you have to get yourself
inverted and hopefully, you can get back down. The inversion table
inverts with little effort and you can come up again safely. My
daughter had gravity boots so I know what I'm talking about. I had
to be there to watch her, help her get inverted, help her get un
inverted and just be around for safety because if something should
happen to you while upside down and you have no one around, you're a
hanging dead peace of meat!

The inversion table is the way to go for back problems.

Mark

Yep. I keep a jar of the nectar in the kitchen specifically to handle burns.
Everyone comes
to my house when they have a burn. MAK is genuine snake oil. A single tablet
takes away
the inflamation/pain from my ex's sciatica problem better than guzzling a bunch
of
ibuprofin or aspirin. Unfortunately, she's got a high blood pressure problem,
and
apparently an EXTREME sensitivity to licorice because she ended up in the
hospital after 3
days of taking 1 pill/day.

Normal dangerous dose of licorice is in the 5-15 gram/day range for
hypertensives. With
her, 250 mg/day is enough to give her a minor stroke (sigh).

Of course, it might not have been the MAK or at least not the licorace, but
just the stress
of the new job, but she stopped taking it and her BP is normal again. with
medication

250 mg/day. NO-ONE could have predicted that. The studies I could find assumed
a
doseage 20-60x as large before licorice might become dangerous for a few people
and
MAK is often used in Maharishi AYurveda treatment of hypertension.

It's a major ingredient in MAK tablets and a minor one in nectar. Doubt if

caused her problems since its supposed to be an accumulative thing having to do

Try drinking more water. It sounds facile, but it may work
because each back vertebra sits on a watery cushion, and
if people don't drink enough (2 litres per day excluding tea,
coffee, beer etc), this vertebra pad does not work properly.
I bought one of these tables off Ebay on behalf of a friend,
but I wish I had suggested this simple remedy first.

I don't know anything about inversion tables, but I do know that, for
me, Rolfing works far better than yoga and chiropractic at dealing
with body pains.

Hmmm...I'm going to try that. Makes sense.
I have gravity boots, similar to inversion tables, and I think that
it works well, my back seems to be better each time I use it, but
unfortunately I have not been doing it enough to really get an idea
for sure. I heard rolfing is good too.
