*Transcript:* "I would like to take this opportunity to speak to all of the
Sidhas in America and throughout the world about the extraordinary gift that
Maharishi has given us in the form of the Invincible Assemblies.

"Maharishi has given us the opportunity to create an invincible world—a
world without enemies—a world of peace, prosperity, joy, happiness, and
profound bliss.

"The formula to achieve this incredible goal for mankind is so very simple,
and it is completely within our grasp. Maharishi has given us the technology
to achieve the impossible through a procedure so easy and blissful that it
defies imagination—and yet it is true, and it has been tested and proven.

"The technology, of course, is an Invincible Assembly in every nation—a
Super Radiance group of Yogic Flyers in every country.

"We have such an assembly in America, and I am very gratified to see that in
the last day or two we have achieved the Super Radiance numbers once again.

"We have been given the knowledge of the mechanics of these Invincible
Assemblies as a formula—the square root of 1% of the nation's population—but
I would like to discuss the benefits for each of us in terms of my field of
experience, which is business.

"There is an important principle in business which Maharishi has described
as 'do less and accomplish more.' For any business transaction, you want to
invest as little as possible, but in return you want to receive as much as
possible.

"We have the tools to calculate how efficient we are at this principle of
'do less and accomplish more': we calculate the return on investment and the
rate of return.

"In business, if you can achieve a 2 to 1 return on your investment over a
period of a year, your calculated rate of return is 100%, and this is pretty
good. In fact, if I offered each of you a 100% rate of return, it would be
insane not to take advantage of an investment as favorable as that.

"By contrast, Raja Hagelin has informed us that the influence we create in
the Super Radiance groups is equal to the square root of 1%. The easiest way
to calculate this effect is to multiply the number of Yogic Flyers by 100.
So yesterday, with 1750 Yogic Flyers in the Invincible America Assembly,
each of you had the effect of providing a positive influence of coherence to
175,000 of your fellow citizens. In other words, the return on investment of
a single Yogic Flyer in the Assembly yesterday was 175,000 to 1; and this
return did not take a year, but occurred within 3 hours. I haven't
calculated the rate of return on this investment of your time, but it
approaches infinity.

"This return to each of you on the Assembly is on an investment far more
precious than money. It is a return on your action—your *karma*. And the
result will be a continuous stream of positive influence in your life that
will grow each day as you participate in the Assembly.

"There is no more efficient mechanism in the universe to accomplish so much

Weather Announcements and Power Outages

Power Outages Create Sewer Bypasses in Fairfield

Weather-related power outages have caused bypasses of sewage in at
least two eastern Iowa cities, the most serious occurring in Fairfield. By
early Saturday evening, Fairfield was still without electricity. Bypassing
of sewage was taking place in Crow Creek from pumping stations and
generators were being used to prevent sewage from backing up in the plant.

"This is a potentially serious situation because if the plant backs up with
wastewater, significant damage could occur to the electrical equipment
inside," said Russell Royce, an environmental specialist for the DNR's field
office in Washington.

Although bypassing of sewage is never a desirable situation, it does
sometimes have to be done if the result could be to have sewage back up into
private homes and businesses which would create a greater risk to human
health.

It is anticipated, because of the weather-related power outages, that
additional bypassing of sewage could occur in affected hours due to the
combination of lost power shutting down pumps and the increased flow because
of precipitation.

Maharishi's Extraordinary Gifts

Culminating in a Tower of Invincibility Construction on the Maharishi
Tower of Invincibility began on June 17 and will be completed in time
for the Guru Purnima Celebration July 29. The Tower will be 45 feet
high and covered with inscriptions to commemorate the remarkable
achievements of the Invincible America Assembly.

We are now completing the most significant year in the history of the
University and Maharishi's Worldwide Movement for the Transcendental
Meditation(r) program— the year of the Invincible America Assembly to
crown America with permanent invincibility.

The Assembly began on July 23, 2006, under the leadership of Dr. John
Hagelin and Dr. Bevan Morris, and by now everyone is aware of the
results — the immediate and sustained upturn in the economy, the
rising support for peace among the American people and in Congress,
even the absence of hurricanes.

And Maharishi has sent gift after gift — hundreds of Yogic Flying
Vedic Pandits, the PurushaSM program, the Purusha Rajas, the Raj
Rajeshwaris.

By far the most significant gift was his daily attention to the
Assembly, his personal guidance of "Number One" experiences —
masterpieces of experience, as Maharishi called them — which have been
so very fulfilling to him. In the course of his interactions with
Assembly participants, Maharishi has brought out knowledge he said he
had been waiting 50 years to say. His guidance has resulted in even
more profound depth of experience.

So significant has this past year been that Maharishi has invited the
University to build a Maharishi Tower of Invincibility to commemorate
the magnificent achievements of the Invincible America Assembly for
all future generations.

Since October 2006, nearly 500 Yogic Flying Vedic Pandits have joined
the Invincible America Assembly at Maharishi University of Management
and Maharishi Vedic City.

The Maharishi Tower of Invincibility will be one of the campus's most
striking features. Dr. Eike Hartmann has designed a square structure
45 feet high, with a stepped dome and a golden Kalash. Each of the
four sides is 15 feet wide and will be covered with inscribed white
marble panels:

The eastern panel will celebrate Guru Dev, His Divinity Brahmananda
Saraswati, through whose grace the Invincible America Assembly has
dawned.

The second panel will honor Maharaja Nader Raam, His Excellency Dr.
Bevan Morris, and His Excellency Dr. John Hagelin.

The third panel will honor the Howard and Alice Settle Foundation for
an Invincible America, which has provided financial support for the
establishment of a permanent group of at least 2,500 Yogic Flyers in
the United States.

The fourth panel will honor Maharishi University of Management and all
those who gave their service and generous gifts to make the Invincible
America Assembly possible.

The Maharishi Tower of Invincibility is positioned on the hill between
the two Golden Domes. It will be surrounded by a beautiful garden and
viewing areas, with four powerful searchlights aimed into the sky. The
steel structure is being erected and the white marble tiles are being
placed even now.

Maharishi is deeply inspired by the building of the Maharishi Tower of
Invincibility and is now asking others around the world to also create
similar Maharishi Towers of Invincibility in their countries. Join us
in inaugurating the first Tower July 29.

On 20 April 2007, the second day of a three-day global celebration of the
auspicious Akshiya Tritiya -- the day in the Vedic Calendar dedicated to
lasting achievements on the ground of the ancient and eternal field of Being
-- Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, speaking via satellite broadcast from Meru, Holland,
brought to light the great Secret of administration of the universe.

Everything is possible, Maharishi revealed, from the field of silence, which
is the Unified Field of Total Natural Law; where "Gyan Shakti" (Total
Knowledge) and "Kriya Shakti" (Infinite Dynamism) are unified in "Brahm". Any
desire can be fulfilled from this level. Whatever is desired by anyone,
Maharishi explained, it is supplied to him from the secret unseen level of
administration of Brahm -- the transcendental self-referral consciousness of
everyone, from where the mere subtlest impulse of desire is fulfilled. 

"What is my great desire? And I am sure it's coming to be fulfilled -- the
desire is to achieve that high goal of "Raam Raj" (Global Administration

[FairfieldLife] Impending Crisis - a Vedic Astrology perspective

Maharishi is not alone in forseeing trouble in the coming summer months. Sam
Geppi is a Vedic Astrologer in San Francisco (not in the TM movement) whose
daily forcast ring very true for me quite often... Therefore, i post his
prognosis for this recent transit of Mars into Leo:

MARS ATTACKS!!

Have you noticed a certain irritability lately, 
since around the end of last week??. 
Well this is because Mars has awakened. 

Mars *had been* very powerful in his own sign 
for seven months. That ended in March, and 
since then he has been in signs where he's 
not quite as assertive as he would like to be. 

First in Taurus, where he becomes quite earthy and sensual;
next in Gemini where his energy becomes unfocused and 
leads to mental aggravation and difficult communication;
and most recently in the sign of Cancer where he is 
considered debilitated. 

Mars is a planet that gives strength. 

The strength of Mars is not in his ability to fight but 
in his ability to make peace -- that's true strength, 
having the courage to consider other options -- 
which includes reflection (the Moon) 
and peacemaking (Venus). 

Wherever Mars goes he tries to strengthen 
that area of life through disciplined action. 
Action is related to the fire element 
and thus Mars does well in fire signs. 

Fire is the element of our instinctive animal nature 
which senses the best course of action to take at any time. 

Mars has a act first, think later mentality. 
Thus Mars is very powerful when we have a problem to fix 
and no time to waste fixing it. 

When he is powerful, he will get to work, 
logically determine what the best course of action is 
and then do it. 

However when Mars is involved 
in our relationships for example, 
he'll try to fix it by logically figuring out what's wrong 
and then doing something about it. 

When Mars is involved in a conversation, 
he will logically figure out what's wrong 
and then do something about it. 

This is his nature yet we can see very clearly 
Mars involved in relationships, or in communication, 
can create problems. 

This is why he creates arguments. 
He's a planet of strength and he's trying to strengthen 
what he sees as a weakness. 
Yet there can be a destructive quality here. 

Relationships for example are not meant 
to be strengthened through logic and action. 

The best way to strengthen a relationship 
is through compromise, love and acceptance, 
things related to the Moon and Venus. 
Not trying to change or fix but accept. 

Mars's job is not to accept but to change and fix 
that which needs to be changed and fixed. 

In and of itself it's beautiful, but 
most of the time Mars should not be very present 
in our interactions. 

Just like in a conversation -- who wants to talk to 
someone who is trying to fix them 
and fix the conversation toward 
what is right in their mind ... not me!! 

Mercury is the best one to do the talking. 
He listens to everyone, he is curious, 
he is funny, he's playful, he's not 
married to a way of how things should or shouldn't be -- 
what is logically correct or what is incorrect. 

That's Mars is job, Mercury's job is to help decide 
what's right or wrong, but Mercury himself sees 
value in all ideas as being equal to someone.

Mars is in a powerful position for the next two months or so. 

This is a good time to get back into your Yoga routine, 
Martial arts or any sort of powerful discipline 
aligned with  action. 

We have all been feeling a little weak and powerless 
to free ourselves from a certain level of 
luxury or laziness for the last several months 
as Mars went through Gemini and then Cancer. 

Especially Cancer because he was also joined Saturn, 
we may have fallen into some very lazy routines, 
perhaps went back into some situations 
out of weakness, revisiting them rather than 
courageously moving forward, etc. 

This tendency may have been compounded 
more recently by Mercury retrograde in Cancer also. 

The sign of Cancer has been holding 
at least two malefic planets for months now. 

Cancer is the sign of vulnerability, compromise 
and nourishment. Cancer is not a sign where we 
act powerfully and with courage, 
that's why Mars is debilitated there. 

As we've all been lacking in some courage recently 
and this powerful Mars is ready to strengthen us. 

Yet we must be very careful because 
we may have accumulated a lot of frustration 
and have some frustrating circumstances in our life.

The true source of strength is 
having the courage to face our self 
and our own weaknesses. 

We are the source of everything, 
the good and bad. 

As soon as we take responsibility for this, 
liberation is not far behind.

When John Lennon met Yoko Ono in 1966, he was already a superstar with the Beatles and she had achieved moderate success as an avant-garde conceptual artist.

The media reported that they fell madly in love. Truer to the point is that he was completely bowled over by her - as revealed in the Marriage Compatibility Test below. The "Working-Class Hero" dumped his wife Cynthia and surrendered to a woman seven years older than him, and twice-divorced!

The age gap reversal is the first point of incompatibility. The Vedic texts condemn marriage between an older woman and a younger man because it brings on destructive consequences. Anybody tempted to make light of this prohibition should examine John's life, before and after, the way it ended, and how the relationship contributed to the break-up of the Beatles as a group.

John was the idol of millions of hopeful fans all over the world. But he was no longer the man he used to be after he married Yoko in 1969. It was a lopsided match. She was the much stronger person and completely overwhelmed him.

The Vedic texts state that for marital felicity, the male must be equal to or superior to the female. In this relationship, it is the other way round - as revealed by the Test. He was reported to be relaxed, loveable and personable; collaborating and socialising with friends more than he'd done previously. It was during this period that he saw more of Julian, his son from his first marriage with Cynthia, than he'd done for a long time. Quite different, in other words, to the person he was while with Yoko.

If the first-hand accounts are true, then the subjugation of John is probably worse than what's printed in this Marriage Report. The picture on the right, where he snuggles up in a foetal position against Yoko, is an apt statement on the relationship. Yoko wielded incredible influence, nay, authority, over John.

To the surprise of most economists, the opposite occurred. 
"This unshakeable national psychology is due to the stabilizing 
influence of the Yogic Flyers on the collective consciousness 
of the nation," Dr. Hagelin said.

Hagelin said the good news was predicted publicly in advance 
based on 30 years of published scientific research on the 
collective effects of the Transcendental Meditation program 
and its more advanced Yogic Flying technique.

to fund in-school programs. And that has already been matched 
with $325,000 from another donor.

Perhaps you have heard that we will now offer special pricing 
to educators who are willing to make a "whole school" commitment 
and offer TM instruction to all their students, 6th grade and above.
Students and selected administration and faculty will be able to 
learn for $625. We will still offer funding support to schools 
that wish to begin with a partial school commitment, at the standard

'World Capital of Peace' arrives in north Kansas 
Transcendental meditation, organic farming will be emphasis of 
$14 million complex

Smith Center — Followers of the Maharishi Mahesh 
Yogi have acquired 480 acres here near the exact geographical center of the 
continental United States.
Last week they broke ground on a planned $14 million complex they are calling 
the World Capital of Peace. Among other things, the planners say, it will be a 
haven for transcendental meditation and organic farming.
The arrival of the Maharishi's followers and their plans to build is a very 
big deal in this town where little else has happened lately on the economic 
front. Or as Mayor Randy Archer put it, "With a population of 1,800 and the 
oldest population in Kansas, we don't have much going for us."
Archer said he attended the ground breaking for the World Capital of Peace 
last week.
"I'm glad I went because the rumors are it's a cult and they are going to 
make underground bunkers and build nuclear weapons. That's not what they are 
about," he said.
Beatles were disciples
The Maharishi is perhaps best known as the founder of the transcendental 
meditation movement and for some of his celebrity disciples, which over the 
years included the Beatles and Mike Love of the Beach Boys.
Smith Center, near the Nebraska border in central Kansas, is perhaps best 
known for being near the precise center of the lower 48 states and as the 
birthplace of silent film star Fatty Arbuckle.
The Maharishi-affiliated groups at work in Smith Center are two nonprofit 
organizations, the U.S. Peace Government and the Global Country of World 
Peace.
They are unusual groups by Smith Center standards and some people are 
understandably concerned about what the newcomers will be up to, despite the 
expected influx of dollars associated with the project.
Water scarce
"A lot of people are pro, and a lot of people are con. A lot of people think 
it will bring a lot of business to town," said Lynn Pickel, owner of Second Cup 
Cafe and Pastries on Main Street. "My policy is to stay out of it as a business 
owner. The water issue, as far as I know, is the biggest they are up 
against."
Water is relatively scarce in Smith County, and there is concern there might 
not be enough to support the planned World Capital of Peace.
Kent Boyum, an ecologist and the director of government relations for the 
Global Country of World Peace, said the groups aim to be good neighbors.
"It's not a closed community that won't let anybody else be a part of what we 
are doing," Boyum said of the World Peace Capital.
Smith County was chosen, he said, because it is in the middle of quiet, rural 
America. He said the organization intends to build "Peace Palaces," which would 
be single buildings, across the Midwest with plans to build in Lawrence and the 
Kansas City area.
On the Smith Center property, 12 to 15 buildings are planned and those who 
live in the community will focus on practicing transcendental meditation and 
organic farming. Each building will be about 12,000 square feet, Boyum said, and 
will including living quarters and meeting space. The site will also be open to 
tourists.
$14 million project
The president of the U.S. Peace Government is John Hagelin, a quantum 
physicist and a fringe U.S. presidential candidate in 1996 and 2000. He has said 
the U.S. Peace Government is meant to complement rather than replace the 
existing government and aims to "promote prevention-oriented, problem-free 
administration."
Boyum said all types of people are drawn to transcendental meditation.
"The people who practice are all kinds of people - all shapes, all 
colors. Some have religion. Some don't," Boyum said. "It isn't an absolute way 
of life. Some people just add to their normal way of life and have less 
stress,"
Boyum said the buildings for the World Capital of Peace will mostly be built 
in a factory and then erected on the site. He estimated the project's cost at 
about $14 million, and said the groups are working with engineers in Salina to 
develop the land and the rural water district there.
As residents have learned more about the project, Archer said about "95 
percent" of the people in Smith Center he has talked with seem to be for it.
"I really felt good about it. I think they will blend and mesh with the 
community and the county. But any time a change comes in, usually it's scary," 
Archer said.
"They are professional"
"There's so many rumors floating around that are really pretty laughable," 
said Charles Sellens, an administrative assistant for the Smith County 
Commissioners. "I feel very positive about it. The thought of people coming in 
and spending money is very positive.
"They not only sound professional. They are professional," Sellens said. 
"There's some feeling that a lot of them would be moving in and out. The people,

Raam is most precious time and we don't want to lose this 
time. We want to inaugurate and celebrate as many of the lands we have in the 
context of Raam Navami, Raja Raam, Raam Braham, the perfect rule of Braham, rule 
of peace, prosperity, and Invincibility to every nation. We want to celebrate 
these features in name of the great Day of Raam Navami which occurs only once a 
year

noon, we will have groundbreakings in Maharishi Vedic City at the following

available at this time regarding Groundbreaking Ceremonies taking place today at 
NOON in Maharishi Vedic City for Raam Navami:

1. 
Groundbreaking for the first Peace Colony for MVC:  Park halfway 
between the Arenanders house and the Mansion (in other words, park on Capital 
Blvd. somewhat to the south of the Mansion).  Then walk WEST out into the 
field.  Eloise Raymond and Susanna MacGreagor will be there to lead this 
ceremony.

2. 
Groundbreaking for the Constitution of the Universe:  This ceremony 
will take place in the Southwest Corner of MVC.  To get to the location, 
take 185th street west to Iris.  Go right (north) on Iris.  
When you come to the edge of Jani Wood (you will see the big MSV home up on the 
hill to your left) slow down.  Park about half way between that house and 
Deerfield Road.  In other words, park somewhat to the south of Deerfield 
Road along Iris.  The ceremony will take place on the east side of the 
road.  This ceremony will be lead by the MVC Ladies Peace 
Palace.

3. 
Groundbreaking for the Ladies Campus and Ladies Medical Building:  
Meet with Claudia Magill at the Brahmasthan of the city at 11:30 and everyone 
will caravan to the correct location.  To get to the Brahmasthan of the 
City, take 170th west from Jasmine.  Turn south on Juniper and 
drive one half mile.

scholarships of $500 per month. This scholarship support will cover
basic living expenses (room, board, and some spending money) and is
intended for people who would not be able to do long program because
they need to return to full-time jobs to support themselves, as well as
people from outside of Fairfield who can come and would need this
support to be here.

In the 1960s, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi -- called the giggling guru by the press
-- gained a measure of celebrity for promoting his mantra-repetition technique
of Transcendental Meditation around the world and for serving a brief stint as
spiritual adviser to the Beatles. His message was that with the proper
techniques, each individual could find peace, as one of his disciples, George
Harrison, sang, "within." Today, his organization claims to hold U.S. assets
of $300 million and to have taught six million adherents (training now costs
$2,500) in T.M. centers around the world. It also operates a university in
Fairfield, Iowa .
   
  
Maharishi, who is believed to be 89, now confines himself to two rooms in his
golden-hued log house in the small Dutch village of Vlodrop . Although he has
emerged only a few times in the past year -- for fresh air on a chauffeured
drive -- he contends that his most important work lies ahead of him. His first
50 years, he says, were merely a "warm-up" for his goal of creating world
peace by, among other things, rebuilding national capitals according to his
harmony-producing precepts. Inner peace, it turns out, is not enough. 
  
When I visited Vlodrop this spring, Maharishi agreed to a rare interview. I
was permitted in his house but was not allowed into his upstairs quarters. His
followers told me that seclusion preserves his energy and that he talks in
person to only a small circle of attendants. I spoke to Maharishi by
videoconference from a downstairs room where his red velvet gilded throne sat
empty. 
  
Framed in a flat-screen monitor, he appeared more than ever a mystical
creature, his thin face sketched with a white beard. He was dressed in his
customary white silk dhoti, a fresh necklace of yellow petals around his neck.
His aim, he explained in English, is to create coherence in a world undone by
our stressed brains, artificial national borders, terrorism and irrational
violence. "My coherence-creating groups are going to put out all this
mischief-mongership in the world," he said in a high-pitched voice, holding
President Bush up as the greatest mischief-monger of all. "The world is going
to come out to be a neat and clean world. All these countries will fade
away."
   
Maharishi regards his own 65-acre enclave as the capital of a Global Country
of World Peace; it even has its own currency, the raam. He lives here with 50
of his adherents -- including his "minister of science and technology," John
Hagelin, a Harvard-educated physicist, but sees little of the bearded
Westerners who come for long meditation retreats or research projects. The
compound is in a parallel universe to Vlodrop, with its 2,000 locals. One of
the few who has crossed over is the town florist, who practices T.M. and each
day removes all the thorns from the yogis daily order of bushels of organic
roses. 
  
Maharishi is not content to promote peace just inside his compound. Hagelin
has run for president of the United States three times, and recently,
Maharishi chose 40 countries in which to support corps of "yogic fliers." The
human fliers supposedly use surges of energy to physically lift themselves off
the ground. Like a number of aspiring religious thinkers these days, the
Maharishi and Hagelin say they believe that the physics of quantum mechanics,
with its leaping particles and abundant paradoxes, can be combined with
ancient traditions into a new philosophy that stresses the world-changing
potential of a "transcendental consciousness." Maharishi argues, for instance,
that when the square root of 1 percent of the earths population -- that is,
8,000 people -- meditate all at once, the result will be the diffusion of a
higher state of consciousness into the atmosphere. 
   
Another element of his vision is to rebuild the world according to Vedic
principles. He has called for the demolition of "improperly oriented"
buildings, believing them to be toxic, and includes among them the United
Nations and the White House. There are proposals for New York and Paris to be
cleared to make way for 3,000 marble peace palaces. (His organization operates
such palaces in Bethesda Md, Lexington Ky, Houston and Fairfield). Maharishi
is also convinced that every countrys capital is wrongly located. In India
and America , his organization has bought land near what it calls each
countrys "brahmastan" -- or the geographical and energy center. The future
capital of the United States would be Smith Center Kan, population 1,931. 
   
Despite the support of celebrities from David Lynch to Donovan, Maharishi has
been disappointed in his efforts to recreate the world. Hagelin's poor showing
in the 2000 presidential race did not lift his spirits. Locked in legal
battles, his organization has not gained permission to raze a Franciscan
monastery on its property in Vlodrop. It was also unable to establish
sovereignty on 100 acres of Rota, an island in the P

A surprisingly robust U.S. economy and a booming stock market, a successful U.S.-brokered cease-fire in Lebanon, and an unexpectedly benign hurricane season are among the clear signs of success of the first 75 days of the largest scientific demonstration project ever to monitor the effect of group Yogic Flying practice on the economic, social, and even climatic trends of the nation. 
This is the assessment of world-renowned quantum physicist Dr. John Hagelin, director of the ongoing national demonstration project, which is being funded through a generous gift of $12 million a year by the “Howard and Alice Settle Foundation for an Invincible America.”
Signs of Success 
Dr. Hagelin said that since the “Invincible America Course” began on July 23 with 1200 advanced Transcendental Meditation–Yogic Flying experts in Washington, D.C., and Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, national trends have improved dramatically, as publicly predicted by researchers before the course began:

A faltering U.S. economy has suddenly turned robust—led by a booming stock market, which pulled out from its downward spiral in mid-July and has since climbed nearly 1000 points, breaking all-time records
The price of oil, which peaked at $78 a barrel in mid-July, has plummeted more than 25% to below $58 a barrel—with gas prices dropping 25% as well
A surprisingly effective U.S.-brokered cease-fire in Lebanon has prevented a dangerous escalation of violence in the region
Dire predictions of a destructive Atlantic hurricane season have proven unfounded, as no hurricanes have struck U.S. shores this year

“This dramatic transformation in national trends, which began with the start of the demonstration project, is no mere coincidence or anomaly,” Dr. Hagelin said. “This transformation is the direct result of the increased coherence in national consciousness created by the 1200 Yogic Flyers.”
According to Dr. Hagelin, the nation has saved at least $200 billion in hurricane costs (Katrina alone caused an estimated $150 billion in damages), with untold billions more added to the economy by the bullish stock market.
Extensive published research confirms the benefits of the “Maharishi Effect”
Dr. Hagelin cited prior research, published in leading, peer-reviewed scientific journals, which has documented reduced negative trends, including reduced crime and violence, and improved economic and social trends when as few as the square root of one percent of a population practice Yogic Flying together in a group. 
Scientists named this phenomenon the “Maharishi Effect” after His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogic, the renowned Vedic scholar who founded the Transcendental Meditation program, and who predicted the beneficial impact of group meditation on social trends as early as 1975.
Creating the “Meissner Effect” for the nation
Dr. Hagelin, who serves as President of the US Peace Government and Minister of Science and Technology of the Global Country of World Peace, said that group Yogic Flying practice creates the equivalent in society of the “Meissner Effect” of physics.
“The Meissner Effect refers to the ability of a superconductor to spontaneously repel any disruptive influences, due to the coherent functioning of its atomic constituents,” Dr. Hagelin said. “The Meissner Effect explains how coherent national consciousness created by the Yogic Flyers can similarly repel any disruptive influence—terrorism, conflict, or even a hurricane—and prevent it from inflicting damage on the nation.”

Dr. Hagelin acknowledged that serious problems persist in the world, but said that as the number of Yogic Flyers in the U.S. reaches the square root of one percent of the U.S. population (about 2000), there will be an even more dramatic improvement in national trends, and any lingering problems will be quickly resolved.
“This is not wishful thinking,” Dr. Hagelin said. “This is hard science that has been field-tested for over 50 years and documented through more than 600 studies conducted at over 250 independent universities and research institutes throughout the world.”

I dont use a large email list, am sending this to a few friends and
acquaintances,

Raja Wynne made the formal announcement today about the Pandits, during the
end of the daily talk with Maharishi. Each of these daily calls seems like a
major event in development of ones consciousness and group consciousness.
Maharishi is taking this IA group to and toward enlightenment, and the longer
one stays, the further one goes along. To adjust a few things I said before:
Raja W said 360 Pandits will be here by this Friday, with some coming as early
as Tuesday. 40 will stay in the Capital, and 80 in each of four frats: 109,
110, 111 and 114. We will wait til they get here, then give them their choice
of their all flying in their respective living units, or the Dome, or the
Grand Assembly Hall and all the other men will adjust as needed. The MVC men
may move into Headley Hall in back of MVC City Hall and in front of the
Capital. (Dr. Robert Schneider who raised the funds for Headley Hall and whose
Institute has the second floor there, has been with Maharishi in Vlodrop since
Guru Purnima helping develop Maharishis new Vedic Medicine curriculum to
train Vedic medical professionals.) The central lobby of each frat is large
enough for a program hall for those living in that frat. The frats are built
with a kitchen and dining hall downstairs, and the plan now is to get those
back up and running for each frat. The Capital has a full functioning kitchen
already. Really the frats are so well-designed for use by the Pandits like
this, they should be very happy.

Its a bit of a beehive around here among CPs and staff as you can imagine.
Its interesting to go to Annapurna and see all sorts of students and even
some staff for whom all the activity is more distant in their horizons, after
hearing Drs. Bevan and John speak enthusiastically (and truthfully) of how
this is the greatest event in the history of the country (after Maharishis
trips here). The excitement is definitely balanced or grounded by all the
solid experiences of Unity that hundreds of people are having. Even the
largest events and experiences are small compared with the definite experience
of infinity and unboundedness.

One CP here (Alan Marks) Maharishi gave a PhD to today, and also a gold medal
for top experience. These calls with Maharishi are like those candy bars
wrapper mottos: indescribably delicious. There seems to be an unending line-up
of people with experiences of truly unified and complete  consciousness, and
the variety of experiences and descriptions is Real Impressive. Each
experience is so sumptuous and nourishing and non-attaching to even hear, and
one thinks boy that cant be topped then the next person or the next day
there are more just as good or better.  

Hearing them is not just intellectually and emotionally enlivening, it is
powerfully and transcendentally transformational. One gets in this mood, well
what next, and perfection and enlightenment start to feel more and more
natural and normal. Maharishi liked this one in particular because it was
simple, not intellectualized, and at the end as part and parcel of the
experience in an authentic way Alan offered everything to Maharishi. 

Maharishi always really picks up on that especially when its not just said
because its supposed to be, and offers it to Guru Dev. Also, when anyone
speaks, Maharishi not only listens to and reacts not just to what is said but
who is saying it because he can see everything about the person.

Raja Wynne also said visas are continuing to be given above these 360, and the
cooks coming now are in addition, which will bring the numbers here from the
current 1200 to about 1550 as a stable basis. The 200 coming for free
TM-Sidhis in November will hopefully establish official superadiance (1733),
unless Maharishi sends more Pandits before then or more others come when the
first Pandits come. 2,000 is the number Maharishi really wants and has been
speaking of since the beginning of the Invincible America project. The first
Pandit buildings arrive this coming Friday, as the Pandits start to move in,
more rooms will open on campus for fortunate people who come to the Course.

Every bit of help is needed readying the Frats for the Pandits. The first
group is coming Thursday night and the second may be here as early as
Saturday! As of today's call, all will be staying on campus now in five
frats across from the Domes. These are very exciting times!

Help is very much needed in getting all the buildings ready. Major
renovation work is going on, including installing new carpets. If you can
help for any amount of time, day or night, please come to Frat 114 beginning
at 10:30 am each day for an assignment and help get the buildings ready for
our new and most welcomed guests!

One volunteer put together this list of items needed in the renovation
process. If you have any of these items, please bring them along.

Vacuum Cleaners w/ replacement bags

Shop vacs.

Window Cleaner w/ squeegees

Disinfectant w/ cleaning sponges and buckets

Lime, Scum and Rust Remover for the bathrooms and sinks

Lots of Screw Drivers

Paint rollers and brushes w/ drop cloths

Razor Blades for scraping paint off the glass

Electricians with electrical outlets and fixtures

Pick-up trucks to come get the brush and haul it away from the yard.

Push brooms for the walkways

Please come whenever you can, for whatever time you can spare. Every hour
counts!

Main purpose of pandits is superradiance effect

Housing is being prepared for 300-400 Vedic Pandits on campus, 
the total that is currently expected to arrive in the coming week. 
As housing is constructed in Maharishi Vedic City, even larger numbers 
of Pandits may come. About 1,000 Pandits are expected to be 
in the community within two months to swell the numbers 
on the Invincible America Assembly so that the Maharishi Effect 
is achieved for the United States.

The goal of hosting the Vedic Pandits and the participants on 
the Invincible America Assembly is to foster peace and coherence 
in the world via group practice of the Transcendental Meditation® 
and TM-Sidhi® programs. This group practice creates a phenomenon 
called the Maharishi Effect, which is the influence of coherence 
and positivity in the social and natural environment.

Over 40 research studies indicate the benefits of this effect, 
which requires the square root of one percent of the population 
to practice the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs 
in a group. The number of practitioners needed for the U.S. is 1,730.

The Vedic Pandits will live, dine, and do group practice 
of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs 
in the residence halls called frats. They will also participate 
in Maharishi Yagya® performances in each of their buildings, 
creating an additional profound positive effect on collective 
consciousness. In about one month the Pandits will relocate to
Maharishi Vedic City.

[FairfieldLife] new pandit housing will use marble-powder panels

New Pandit housing will use "marble-powder" panels

Initially Jon Lipman and Martin Brodeur, the construction 
project leaders, planned to build 1,000 homes in villages of 
"marble peace colonies" built in an innovative way from 
factory-cast panels. The arrival of the Vedic Pandits has given 
further impetus to this project as well as creating additional needs.

Mr. Lipman said the priority now is also constructing "Mandaps", 
which are specially designed buildings for Pandits 
to carry out performances of Maharishi Vedic Technologies 
for World Peace.

According to Mr. Brodeur, who is leading the development of the 
unique technology for the cast panels, the homes will be built 
according to the principles of Maharishi Sthapatya Veda(SM) design 
and will have a beautiful, ornate appearance.

"They will have the sparkle of marble," Mr. Brodeur said. "The 
buildings will be very dimensional; they'll have a lot of 
character and detail and look like they're carved because 
Vedic ornamentation will be cast into the panels. And 
they'll also be comfortable and very cost-effective."

The interiors will be warm and inviting due to the use of 
a clay-plaster that includes a fine marble powder mix. 
The interior appearance can be varied to give the look of 
either a painted or stained finish or a travertine surface. 
The unique design also means the buildings will be well insulated 
with the clay-plaster interior, creating a natural homeostasis 
in the way it absorbs and desorbs moisture and humidity, 
thereby preventing mold.

Court Orders End To "See Clearly Method"

A Fairfield company that made millions selling a vision improvement kit has
been ordered to close its doors.

Attorney General Tom Miller says Vision Improvement Technologies has been
court ordered to stop all sales of its “See Clearly Method”, and pay
200-thousand dollars in restitution to consumers. The company claimed the
product, which cost around 350-dollars could improve someone’s vision with a
series of eye exercises, dismissing the need for eyeglasses or surgery.

Miller filed a consumer fraud lawsuit against the company in August of this
year, claiming the product could not be proven effective.

"The company made dramatic claims for its product that it could not
substantiate," Miller says. "They represented that consumers who used the
method could quickly and easily free themselves of having to wear glasses or
contact lenses. They used illegal tactics including exaggerated claims of
effectiveness, false implications of scientific validity, and misleading
consumer testimonials in advertising," he says.

Miller also cited problems with the company’s 30-day refund policy, which
most consumers used. However, Miller says the company tried to make the
process difficult to complete.

Miller says the company owned by Cliff Rose, David Sykes and Gary Korf, all of
Fairfield, and David Muris, of California, stopped selling the product Monday,
and will shut down totally December 22.

If you have purchased the product, and want your money back, Miller says to
contact the Iowa Attorney General’s office.

While it would be an exaggeration to say that Nepal occupies a 
strategic position in the world - isolated as it is in the Himalayas - its 
future is being watched closely. 
Partly this is for sentimental reasons. The kingdom used to be the 
destination of choice for thousands of Western hippies who thought of it as a 
mountain Shangri-la. 
The one-time guru of the Beatles, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, had connections in 
Nepal and once broadcast his vision of saving the world by "Transcendental 
Meditation" on Nepali television. 
So there is a great interest in the West to see how that quiet and peaceful 
place (perhaps not so quiet underneath) has developed into the scene of civil 
war, repression, riot and uprising. 



  
  

It is the government of India that is the 
  most concerned. India itself has considerable problems with Maoist rebels 
  

The Yogi's message does not seem to have worked. But then the 1960s and their 
message of flower power are a long time ago. The world has moved on in more 
violent ways, and Nepal is a part of that movement. 
Then there is the Everest trek that keeps Nepal in a wider public eye. 
Currently teams of climbers are preparing for their attempts on the summit 
during the calm period between now and the end of May. They have largely escaped 
the recent troubles, although two climbers were injured last November when 
Maoist rebels attacked their vehicle on its way to base camp. 
And there is the added factor in Britain because Nepal is home to the Gurkha 
fighters who serve in the British army. 
Indian fears 
But beyond these attachments to Nepal are more serious considerations. 


The main one is whether the end of monarchical power as exercised by King 
Gyanendra develops into democratic politics of some kind, or whether the Maoist 
rebellion spreads from the countryside to the cities and takes control. 
It is the government of India that is the most concerned. 
India itself has considerable problems with Maoist rebels. Rebels are active 
in several states - Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand. Maharashtra 
and Bihar. 
Some of the these places are a long way from the modern image of India as the 
growing regional and world power, whose development is spurred by high 
technology. 
The rebellions are fuelled by issues of land and poverty and India does not 
want the example of a Maoist Nepal to encourage further protest. 
India sent an envoy to talk to King Gyanendra, but its intervention has been 
criticised by the Indian opposition BJP party as "too little and too late". 
The BJP president Dr Rajnath Singh said that India should exert pressure to 
ensure that Maoists are not given positions of influence in Nepal. He wants a 
renewed effort to crush the Maoist rebellion. 
India fears that there are links between Maoists in Nepal and their fellow 
fighters in India. 
Stark divide 
Perhaps for too long, the world averted its eyes from the reality of Nepal, 
distracted by its Shangri-La image. 
It should have been seen as somewhere that could show how modern ideas of 
democracy and development - as opposed to the communal policies urged by the 
Maoists - could work. 
But Nepal did not manage to address the problems presented by its 28 million 
people, many of them clinging to a precarious existence on the crowded slopes of 
the mountains. 
I visited both Nepal and another Himalayan kingdom, Bhutan, in 1997 and the 
difference was stark. A lot had to do with the number of people. Bhutan was 
almost empty. 
It had little traffic (and all cars were tracked by officials at road 
junctions) and no traffic lights, the only pair having been removed as 
unnecessary. 
The king controlled everything and, at that time, there was not even 
television. The Indians had built roads south to North to be able to reinforce 
in case of trouble from China but the place was placid. 
Nepal was already beginning to seethe. From the air, one could see that every 
inch of useable mountainside had been terraced and cultivated. But there just 
was not enough room for the people to make a decent living and the government 
was unable to lift them out of their plight. The rest followed.

Maharishi's celebration of the Day of Awakening

Expenses have increased; TM maven Dr. John Hagelin 
needed only $4.2 million in 1993 to bring

With eyes tight shut, legs crossed and mind meandering, I briefly flirt with
inner peace. Beneath 
a golden dome that is the British centre for the teachings of a mystical guru
from the East, the 
time has come to dabble with the power of meditation. For a moment it seems
like paradise. 
Then my eyes flicker, the faith fades and I remember that I am in
Skelmersdale, Lancashire.

Strange though it may seem, this new town of a thousand roundabouts is the
European home to 
the followers of the man whose cosmic notions so entranced The Beatles in the
1960s: the 
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Here they came to deploy the force of transcendental
meditation (TM), 
to find personal happiness and to make the world a better place.

Now, though, a dark cloud casts its shadow over the Maharishi's British flock.
The UK, the 95-
year-old sage claims, has become a 'Scorpion nation', and meditative teachings
merely serve to 
'feed the destroyer of the world'. The Maharishi, it seems, is rather ticked
off about the Iraq War 
and the arms trade.

Teaching TM must cease in the UK immediately, he has ordered. 'We are
rejecting one nation " 
Britain " which has proven to be a poisonous, divisive influence in the world
family,' the leader 
blasts in a memo issued to his Global Country of World Peace recently.

It all seems slightly hard on his followers in Skelmersdale, who set up base
here 25 years ago 
and have built up a 400-strong community. Some of the people here wonder why
their home 
country has been singled out and the US left alone, and a few have even mooted
the previously 
unthinkable: disobeying the legendary figure and carrying on teaching.

'He is deeply upset about the arms trade,' says David Hughes, one of the
founder members of 
the community, explaining that Britain, per head of population, actually has a
worse record than 
anywhere else in the world. 'This is an issue we are all very concerned
about.' Teaching 
meditation in the UK, it seems, could foster energies that make the situation
worse. If the 
community has to cease such activities, then it will be for the greater good.
But the rest of 
Skelmersdale is slightly nervous too, for they've grown rather fond of the
Yogic fliers over the 
years.

With meditation has come an award-winning school, a gym, a business centre and
new houses. 
The Maharishi's men and women have injected cash into the local economy and
some even 
claim their presence has revitalised it. Now the Yogics are being urged to
flee for larger, better-
funded settlements abroad. 'When we first came in 1980 things were really
bleak,' explains 
Hughes, a Lancashire man by birth. Hughes and a handful of other devotees
opted for 
Skelmersdale over other new towns because the rents were cheap and it was near
the heart of 
Britain, offering easy access from Scotland and the Southeast. At the time,
very few other 
operations viewed it as a viable centre. 'Now you can hardly find any spare
business space. If 
you want to set up here you have to build from scratch.'

It has even been suggested that their communal meditation reversed the crime
rate in the 
nearby Merseyside area from being one of the worst in the UK to being among
the best " 
although Hughes concedes that he still doesn't leave his car unattended in
Liverpool at night.

He admits that the general upturn is not entirely down to the power of
meditation, but believes 
that it has been a significant force. And the economy certainly needed a
boost. In the 1960s, 
Skem " as it is affectionately known locally " survived the decline of the
mining industry only to 
be turned into a concrete jungle. Its reward was to be used as an overspill
town to resettle 
crowded Merseyside. Industrial employers proceeded to leave the town en masse,
and the only 
growth figures related to crime, drug abuse and poverty.

But, as Hughes points out, things have been looking a little better of late.
We depart the dome 
for a tour of the town. 'It was originally proposed that it should have a
population of 80,000,' he 
says. 'But it's only really got up to 40,000.'

Similarly, the meditation community needs to have 800 members to affect the
way the country 
lives, claims Hughes. With it languishing at just 400 it could not possibly
oust the Blair 
government and move the UK towards the goal the Maharishi sets for all his
communities " 
bringing peace to the world. So now they face the prospect that their teachers
will heed the 
guru's order to depart to the likes of South Africa and the United States.

But Hughes says that does not mean the end of the road for Skelmersdale. 'Just
because we 
cannot teach TM for the moment, does not mean that we will go away. It is like
riding a bike: 
once you've had your four lessons you can keep doing it. Maharishi hasn't told
us to stop 
meditating, only to stop teaching it.'

Bush gets some unorthodox advice

The anti-war activists, Islamic believers, communists, and liberals should
know that if the world 
is in a mess it is not the fault of Bush and Blair. It is because their
offices face an inauspicious 
direction. 
 
A US-based quantum physicist has discovered the secret of world peace. All
will be well if the 
south-facing entrances to the White House and 10 Downing Street are closed. 

He claims no credit for this discovery but attributes it to India’s
unpatented traditional 
knowledge -- Vedic architecture. 

Dr John Hagelin, President of what he calls the US Peace Government, has told
both Mr George 
Bush and Mr Tony Blair that they should close the south-facing entrances. 
 

This will be a stop-gap arrangement and later they must move to properly
designed buildings. 
Improper design of government buildings promotes disorderly thinking and
infighting, he says. 

Sceptics may say that the US has done quite well over the decades despite the
White House 
entrance facing an inauspicious direction. But Dr Hagelin has perhaps the
world’s welfare in 
mind. 

In fact, he wants all the leaders of wold to check their buildings. They
should flee such 
buildings as if these have been hit by an earthquake, he says. 

Dr Hagelin says the south-facing entrances are having deleterious effects on
their brain 
functioning and orderliness of thinking. If they shut these entrances, they
will make wiser, more 
intelligent decisions for their people and the world. 

Dr Hagelin wants the Indian government to abandon the Parliament buildings in
New Delhi 
because of their skewed entrances. 

Perhaps Dr Hagelin knows that the Indian Prime Ministers have been working in
an office that 
does not face south, though it is called South Block. 

Dr Hagelin says “divisive and destructive government policies will become
more coherent and 
harmonious overnight if government leaders live and work in buildings that are
properly 
designed according to the principles of ancient Vedic architect are in harmony
with natural law.” 

Bush and Blair may ignore this advice at their own peril at a time when they
are not sailing 
smoothly. 

Dr Hagelin has urged government leaders to replace the old buildings with
properly oriented, 
“fortune-creating” offices and residences that face the rising sun in the
east. Such buildings will 
promote harmony and success for the government, and peace and prosperity for
the nation. 

Dr Hagelin claims recent medical research shows a marked improvement in the
efficiency of 
neuronal functioning when the head is oriented towards the east compared to
the south. The 
positive effects of a proper eastern orientation on the brain and behaviour
are being 
documented by science. 

He says Vedic architecture has been revived by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. About
one billion 
dollars have been invested in the design and construction of Vedic homes and
office buildings 
worldwide in the past decade. 

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi recently launched his Global Reconstruction Programme
for Permanent 
World Peace, and is inviting builders in every country to immediately begin
constructing in every 
city, Peace Colonies of homes and office buildings, as well as Peace Palaces
to teach 
Transcendental Meditation. 

The advice to Mr Bush and Mr Blair is based on some research and not on
mumbo-jumbo. Vedic 
architecture has already made a beginning and some users of the buildings have
claimed a 
remarkable improvement in their well-being. 

The architects and builders, all followers of Maharshi Mahesh Yogi, present
their work at 
professional organisations and are heard with great interest. They have been
joined by some 
neuroscientists. 

According to architect Jonathan Lipman, Vedic architecture promotes
well-being, health and 
success and makes the inhabitants feel more energetic and positive. 

Mr Lipman, chief architect of Maharshi Global Construction, told a gathering
at the National 
Building museum recently that homes built on the principles of Vedic
architecture become 
conduits of cosmic energy. Those who dwell in such houses are happy, healthy
and at peace, he 
said while showing slides. 

A builder, Jeffrey Abramson, said his life changed when he moved to his new
house designed as 
per the Vedic specifications. He and his wife practice Transcendental
Meditation daily. “I felt my 
handcuffs had been taken off”. 

Mr Abramson is putting his money where his mouth is and building a 72-million
dollar building 
project in Maryland, based on the Vedic principles. 

While this traditional wisdom has come from india, some in India tend to
pooh-pooh things like 
Vedic mathematics. 

However, in America as the believers challenge the theory of evolution, there
is a measure of 
acceptance of even "Christian physics".

Subject: Reconstructing the World

Dear Alumni and Friends,

1400 fortunate people attended Maharishi's Guru Purnima Celebration this year
in Meru, 
Holland. The event far exceeded anyone's expectations. It was as if Maharishi
was offering the 
lives of everyone there to the lotus feet of Guru Dev. It felt and looked like
Heaven on Earth. 
There were beautiful white tents everywhere, the kind used for Presidential
inaugurations, 
decorated with red carpets, chandeliers, comfortable red velvet chairs, and
banquet halls filled 
with a variety of dishes and desserts served by professional caterers. 

Outside raised walkways were constructed between the tents, covered in green
carpet and 
decorated with small flowering trees. In the central area a pond was created
with flowers 
floating on the water. Children collected precious stones around the grounds
and greeted you 
at the dining entrance with their colorful displays.

At around 3:30 or 4:00 each afternoon a variety of delicious Indian treats and
snacks were 
distributed in all the tents. All the Rajas sat with His Majesty MahaRaj Nadar
Raam, and the 
Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, our dear President Dr.
Bevan Morris, and 
other Ministers each day discussing the implementation of Maharishi's programs
around the 
world. Maharishi frequently remarked how wonderful it was to sit and think
globally with our 
world family. 

During the Guru Purnima Day Maharishi instructed Bevan to tell people where we
stand in time. 
The year is 1,955,855,107. Another perspective is Yudisthir of the Pandavas
which is the year 
5,143. In Shankar Samvatsar, time since Ati Shankaracharya established the
four Mats, the 
Northern Mat - Jyotir Mat, the time counted from him is year 2,513. And then
Maharishi 
Samvatsar is year 50.

It was during this day that Maharishi launched his Global Reconstruction
Program and invited 
builders in every country to begin building Peace Colonies in every city
composed of "fortune-
creating" homes, and Peace Palaces, where Maharishi's Transcendental
Meditation and other 
Vedic-science-based programs will be taught to promote enlightenment for the
individual and 
permanent peace for the world. Many of Europe's top builders came to the Rajas
Tent to meet 
with the Rajas and His Excellency Dr. Eike Hartmann to commit their time and
resources toward 
this project. 

During this week's Global Press Conference, Bevan gave a beautiful summary of
Maharishi's 
desires for the world that were laid out during the Guru Purnima celebration.
He said that 
globally we want a grand unified world. This hope has come in the midst of
Maharishi's analysis 
of the history of the world.

Government is based upon man-made laws instead of the laws that run the
universe - the 
Constitution of the Universe. The result is a never-ending search for a better
administration. 
The present system of government, democracy, has proven to be a divider of
nations and a 
failure to provide solutions to the problems and suffering of society.

Yet when we speak to governments and show them using scientific evidence how
that system is 
failing, they have deaf ears. Maharishi explains that these leaders have
subjected themselves to 
drugs, alcohol, poisonous foods and medications. In addition, the buildings
where they reside 
and work are damaging to their fortune, clarity of thought, and ability to
understand. 

Maharishi says it is like they are running into a fire and he is telling them
don't do it, don't run 
into the gates of hell. But this is related to the destiny of the world -as
you sow, so shall you 
reap. Maharishi has always done what ever he can to help change that. 50 years
ago he started 
teaching the Transcendental Meditation program to the entire human race so
that every adult 
and student can experience all possibilities in their own awareness. This
experience alone 
awakens the total functioning of the brain.

We wanted to let you know (just as soon as we knew) that H.E. Dr. Bevan Morris has asked us to
postpone the Founder's Day Celebration from its traditional day, September 12, and combine it
with this month's Full Moon Celebration.

So there will be a glorious combined celebration in the Men's Dome this coming Friday,
September 16, at 8:00 p.m. Details will follow, but we anticipate a very special evening,
including some of the latest news from Holland.

Also. . .Founders Day Al um ni Re un io n! Event
Friday afternoon 12:00 - 1:15 a fun time will be had by all who attend lunch at Annapurna
(Student Union). Share stories with classmates while we share photos of the golden olden days.
Lunch is $7.00. Party will be in the room straight ahead as you enter the dining hall. RSVP so we
can estimate how much space we need.

See you there and remember, support nature and It will support you. Over 1000 people recently
visited Maharishi Vedic City, mostly from around the state. Guess what was the most popular
feature? Yep, Yogic Flying demonstrations. People were glued to their chairs and with beaming

[FairfieldLife] What Katrina revealed

Hurricane Katrina has been, first and foremost, a human disaster -- a
seemingly 
endless tale of suffering marked by lives lost, communities dispersed and 
families torn asunder. Our hearts go out to the hundreds of thousands of 
displaced people who are now struggling to piece some semblance of their lives

back together.

NRDC is doing all that we can -- as I'm sure you are -- to aid the ongoing 
relief effort in the Gulf states. We're also contributing our special
expertise 
on oil spills, toxic pollution and drinking water in order to help meet the 
immediate challenges.

As the flood waters begin receding, Americans are also beginning to gain some

much-needed perspective on our fragile place in the natural world. Few events

in our lifetime have revealed so dramatically the deep interconnectedness 
between people and nature.

As an environmental organization, NRDC has a profound obligation to ensure
that 
the environmental lessons of this disaster are not only learned, but that they

are heard loud and clear in our nation's capital. Hurricane Katrina destroyed

more than human lives and homes. She also blew away a decade's worth of denial

about major environmental problems that confront America.

Katrina destroyed the fantasy that we can blithely go on increasing our 
dangerous dependence on oil -- whether imported or domestic. Our oil-addicted

economy is just too vulnerable to supply disruptions, as anyone who filled up

their gas tank last week discovered. The solution is NOT to drill and destroy

the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge -- or our beautiful coastlines -- as many

in Congress are now suggesting. Drilling in the Arctic would not have any 
impact on gas prices until 2025, and even then it would only reduce prices at

the pump by a trivial 1.5 cents per gallon. Our nation simply does not have 
enough oil reserves to affect world oil prices. The only way out of this mess

is to reduce our appetite for oil by improving the fuel economy of our
vehicles 
(which consume 40 percent of our oil) and by relying on smarter, cleaner and 
renewable ways to power our economy.

Katrina also exposed the fiction that we can dredge, bulldoze and fill
millions 
of acres of coastal wetlands without paying a price. Wetland ecosystems are 
Mother Nature's perfect buffer against catastrophic storm surges. Destroy that

buffer and you destroy the last line of defense, not only for New Orleans but

for a host of other American cities. In this case, as in so many others,
what's 
good for the wildlife of coastal America is also indispensable to its people.

We are part of nature.

Katrina demolished the pretense that we needn't reckon with global warming. 
While no single hurricane can be directly linked to global warming, climate 
scientists agree that we are entering an epoch of warming oceans, rising sea 
levels and much more intense storms. We know full well what kind of pollution

controls are required to reverse this trend. If we don't act, Katrina will be

our future. You can't say she didn't warn us.

Finally, Katrina tore the lid off one of our nation's most shameful truths: 
that petrochemical plants, toxic waste sites, oil refineries and other 
industrial threats to human health are most often sited next to low-income 
minority communities. The rest of America regularly averts its eyes from this

injustice. But with the poorest neighborhoods of New Orleans drowning in a 
hazardous sea of fuel, sewage and chemicals, it's hard not to notice just
which 
of our citizens are paying the ultimate price.

Oil addiction. Wetland destruction. Global warming. Environmental injustice. 
You're well aware that NRDC has been working for years to awaken America to 
these terrible problems and to champion urgently needed solutions. But Katrina

has changed everything. The public is finally paying attention. And officials

in Washington are looking to respond.

Our challenge is making sure our leaders take away the right lessons from this

disaster and respond with real solutions, not with the old ways of thinking or

business-as-usual giveaways to well-connected industries.

It won't be easy. The Bush administration and congressional leaders have spent

the last four years digging us ever deeper into a hole of oil dependence, 
wetland destruction, global warming pollution and environmental injustice.
It's 
unspeakably tragic that it took a deadly hurricane to expose this gaping
crater.

There's an old proverb that says, "If you find yourself in a hole, stop 
digging." Getting our leaders to stop digging will be a tall order. But with 
more hurricanes sure to follow in Katrina's wake, we have no choice but to 
dedicate ourselves to the task at hand. As always, NRDC will be counting on 
your commitment, your support and your activism at every step of the way.

the media. In the column, Casual Friday, in the Chicago Sun TImes, staff
reporter Chris Whitehead cited a press release he received with a quote from
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, ''Mankind has now entered the gate of a golden time
of affluence and peace for everyone born on earth.'

Whitehead mused that before reading the press release he had intended to
write a piece complaining about money being spent on the Bush Social
Security circus roaming about the land. After reading the release he
decided, '...never mind. Sounds like those benefits will keep on coming.'

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Increasing evidence suggests that transcendental 
meditation may not only reduce stress, but also may help adults with high blood 
pressure to live longer, according to a new study.
"There are many non-drug techniques for reducing blood pressure, but 
none...extend life," study author Dr. Robert H. Schneider, of the Maharishi 
University of Management in Iowa, told Reuters Health.
He added that the current study shows that "you can live longer with a 
mind-body intervention."
Transcendental meditation is a technique for calming the body and mind, to 
allow individuals to enter a state of "restful alertness," in which the body is 
awake but the mind is not engaged in conscious thought. It is a method of 
"waking up the body's own self-repair mechanisms," Schneider said.
The new report, published in this month's American Journal of Cardiology, is 
based on a review of data from two studies that showed that transcendental 
meditation helped decrease blood pressure among white and African-American 
adults, respectively. Schneider and his team evaluated the association between 
the meditation technique and risk of death among the study participants.
The two studies included 202 men and women, about 72 years old on average, 
who had pre-hypertension or mild hypertension. They were assigned to a 
transcendental meditation group, or to various comparison groups of other 
relaxation techniques.
Participants in the two studies were followed for about eight years on 
average -- a maximum of nearly 19 years -- during which 101 individuals 
died.
Overall, men and women who practiced transcendental meditation not only had 
lower blood pressures than those in the other groups, but were also 23 percent 
less likely to die from any cause, Schneider and his team report. In particular, 
they were 30 percent less likely to die from cardiovascular disease and 49 
percent less likely to die from cancer.
The "integrated holistic" transcendental meditation technique does not have 
any harmful side effects, Schneider said.
Schneider is the director of the Institute for Natural Medicine 
and Prevention, funded by the National Institutes of Health's National Center 
for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

i am curious, in what sense did you "win"
over the TMO? was it a "moral victory"
where you just persevered and nobody
was gonna stop you?

or was it a legal victory, setting a legal
precedent for "independent" TM teaching.

a friend of mine has been teaching TM
at the old rates for quite some time, and
he is always busy initiating new people.

samadhi is flat kaivalya (point) until 
you learn how to function from within it, 
by doing Samyama. this practise develops 
Siddhis (powers)...but not at the expense 
of samadhi. The whole process is

in the sequence of development of c'ness,
from CC to GC, kaivalya is no longer seen as
flat, as in Yoga literature...it now is lively 
(enlivened by sanyama) in the Karma Mimamsa 
branch of literature.

where the subtle Silence (CC) and the
subtle Dynamism (GC) are finally United (UC)

We have recently completed the First Governor 
Recertification Course and are both feeling very honored and fortunate to have 
been assigned to Maharishi Vedic City for our Peace Palace city!

We have great good news to share with you regarding the 
Peace Palace project for Maharishi Vedic City.  Yesterday the Mayor of the 
city, His Highness Raja Wynne, donated the necessary land for the entire Peace 
Palace complex (about 9 acres).  This kind and generous action on Raja 
Wynne's part ensures a permanent home for all aspects of Maharishi's Vedic 
Knowledge in our beloved city, for ourselves and for all generations to 
come.

The land is located at the center of the city, just 
west of the Brahmasthan of the city, so that both the Men's and Ladies' Peace 
Palaces will face east towards the Brahmasthan and overlook that beautiful open 
space where Sat Yuga will descend in Maharishi Vedic City.

We will get the exact parcel of land surveyed and 
staked in the next few days, so that everyone knows exactly where the Peace 
Palaces will rise up!!

The Peace Palaces will house all of Maharishi's 
programs.  Both the Men's and Ladies' Peace Palaces will offer all aspects 
of Maharishi's Total Knowledge--the Transcendental Meditation Program, the 
Advanced Techniques, the TM Sidhi Program, Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology, 
the Maharishi Jyotish Consultations and Yagya program (the yagyas will be 
performed in India), PK and M Spa treatments, MAPI products for sale, Maharishi 
Sthapatya Veda, yogic flying halls, Maharishi Vedic Organic restaurants, 
festival halls, and so forth.  Everything that we need for our personal 
evolution and the well being of the whole world will be available to us in the 
Peace Palaces!

In the perfect vastu of the Peace Palaces, Maharishi's 
Knowledge will be kept pure and complete for all suceeding generations of 
Maharishi Vedic City residents.  These beautiful marble buildings will

We will soon be opening temporary offices in the 
Central Bank building, which will serve us until we can construct our beautiful 
Peace Palaces.  But until we have that office up and running, please feel

beautiful and substancial first step!!

Maharishi said his program to create permanent world peace 
includes:* Establishing large numbers of peace-creating Vedic Pandits 
in India whowill practice Transcendental Meditation and Yogic Flying and 
perform VedicYagyas to enliven Total Natural Law and create coherence in the 
collectiveconsciousness of India and the world. Large groups of Yogic Flyers 
are alsobeing established in other countries to intensify the influence of 
coherencein world consciousness. Maharishi's programme has been 
under way in India for one month. To monitorthe rise of coherence in world 
consciousness, Maharishi has called on theworld press to provide news each 
week of the rise of positivity in differentparts of the globe. Already, 
world press reports show a general trendtowards increasing harmony among
